For all you Chevy lovers out there, here you go!!!!!! More than I hate to sale it, I just have too, cause me & "Hugabug" need a roof of our own over our heads rather than a big "TOY2" sitting in the front yard! Up "FOR SALE" is a 1983 Chevy K20, tho it has been customized with 21 inches of suspension lift, 54" DOT approved Michelin tires, 2.5 ton Rockwell axles, 427 big block, 350 turbo transmission, 2500 stall, B&M slap shifter, & new cut & balanced drive shafts. Since the engine & transmission swap has been done, the only thing that has been done with the truck was showed off in the 2014 Pageland Watermelon Festival Parade, which may I add, the trucks made local TV news too! We were really hoping to b able to carry it to Big Lick for the last mud bog of the year, however priorities come first, & we are in need of a home instead of a huge "TOY2". Now, you can come view the truck, fire it up, drive it around the yard to make sure it runs & drives properly, however, it does need some steering issues addressed. The steering turns great to the left, but not so much to the right, it needs the steering pit man arm centered back to the steering box, but it also needs either full hydro added to it or hydro assist, which I have the orbital valve, valve bank, & 2 cylinders to make it right, just dont have the time or money to complete it, however, all that goes along with the truck & YES, it does have a clear title in hand! I have got a lot of time & money invested in this truck already, but with just a little more time & a few dollars, this truck will b one bad ass Mega Mud Truck, but for now, a home is much more important to us! I know I wont get out of it what I have invested in it, but I wont just give it away either, cause its surely not eating anything, & its also paid for, so please, no tire kickers here, only serious inquires please!! I am asking $8000.00 CASH OBRO, NO TRADES, please read, CASH & CASH ONLY, NO TRADES!! If you feel you maybe interested in this truck, please feel free to contact me, Aaron "Big Daddy" Horne on my cell, & you can call or text it at (843) 517-3160 or even my home at (843) 672-6903, please no calls before 8 a.m. or after 10 p.m. Thank You!!!!

Chevrolet donates 300 vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Super Storm Sandy took out a lot of automobiles in its path of destruction through the Northeast last October. The number surpassed 250,000 at last count, and a few of those were owned by Chevrolet - cars either sitting on dealership lots or waiting at port to be shipped off. Rendered unsellable by the water damage inflicted by Sandy, these vehicles were facing the crusher. But Chevy didn't send them there.
Instead, Chevy had a better idea: It will be donating 300 of these vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders at Guardian Centers in Perry, GA. Chevy is the official automotive partner of Guardian Centers, which is an 830-acre facility that trains first responders in disaster preparedness. Junked cars are practically a consumable commodity there, where a full-size cityscape simulator gives trainees an entire urban center in which to train for all sorts of rescue operations and disaster scenarios.
Chevy says its particular vehicles will be used "in conjunction with role players for wide area searches, traffic congestion in emergency situations, counter terrorism, public order and mass casualty exercises." While grim scenarios all, we're certainly glad there are people out there preparing for the unexpected. While a zombie apocalypse isn't officially on the list of potential disasters to prepare for, when the virus hits, we'll be hot-footing it to Perry, GA to hang with these guys and gals.

GM 6.2L V8 claims most powerful light-duty truck engine title

Thu, 12 Sep 2013

General Motors has officially captured the horsepower crown for mainstream pickup trucks with its 6.2-liter V8. The big mill, available in both the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, comes to market with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, handily outdoing its two cross-town competitors, Ram (5.7-liter V8, 395 ponies and 407 lb-ft) and Ford (6.2-liter V8, 411 hp and 434 lb-ft).
The new GM 6.2 will take a bit of an investment, though. Those that want the extra thrust will need to go with either the LTZ or High Country trims from the Chevy, or the SLT and Denali trims from GMC, which are the two highest trim levels for the respective vehicles. Trim levels aside, if you're in the business of towing, GM has you covered. Optioned with the 6.2-liter V8 and the Max Trailering Package, owners will be able to pull 12,000 pounds, a hugely impressive figure.
We still aren't certain as to what sort of economy the new engine will get, but it'll probably be a bad bet for the fuel conscious. As for availability, expect to see the 6.2-liter trucks in showrooms later in the fall.

GM recalls 8,500 Chevrolet Malibu models for rear suspension glitch

Mon, 04 Feb 2013

According to a letter from General Motors to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, flaws in the build process of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu have led to the recall of 8,519 cars. Units built between December 6, 2011 and January 15, 2013 may have been assembled with rear suspension cradles that had insufficient torque applied to certain bolts. That out-of-spec assembly could lead to issues ranging from slight noises to a loss of vehicle control.
The problem was first noticed in December of last year by a GM test fleet driver and eventually tracked back to the improperly torqued bolts on the suspension cradle assembled through July 2012 by a supplier located not too far from the Malibu's Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly Plant. Since an official NHTSA recall notice has not been issued yet, it isn't clear whether or not Detroit-built Malibus were the only ones affected (the 2013 Malibu is also built at GM's Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kansas). Dealers will fix the problem by inspecting vehicles for proper torque specs, retightening if not within specs and, in some cases, perform a rear-wheel alignment.
