1997 Chevrolet Silverado Shortbed Standard Cab C1500. Original Paint! Victory Red with gray cloth interior. Immaculate hard to find factory stock unmolested SWB. Local 3 owner truck. Fully loaded with AC, PW, PDL, AM/FM CD/Cassestte, Tilt, cruise, V8, automatic, factory tow package, cargo lamp, etc.

Everything works. Runs and drives perfect. Quiet stock exhaust.

ABS sensor light stays on. I have not tried to repair as there is no issue.

New: BFG 255/70R15 tires, GM Chrome sport wheels, center caps, bed mat, wheel trim, front bumper impact strip, windshield (6/20/14) and headlights restored with 0 miles, carpet dash cover, oil change, air filter, drive belt, etc. Note: new windshield and headlights not shown in current pics.

Paint is excellent and reflective with no clear coat peel. Just polished with 3M professional products. (look at pics!) I removed Slimline fiberglass cover from previous owner and did scar paint on top of bedrails only. Could repaint just top of bedrails, add bedrail SS covers, or tonneau cover to conceal paint flaw. No collision or damage to truck.

Bed is excellent paint with no damage on wheel well tubs, front headboard, tailgate, bedsides. I just removed GM bedliner from day 1 and reveals factory paint that's never seen daylight. Does have some paint rubs on bed floor due to plastic liner. I added new rubber bed mat to conceal and protect floor.

Interior is clean with no stains on carpet, seats, door paneAn employee of a soft drink bottling company was performing a service call at a municipal golf course pro shop. He was checking a soft drink vending machine that was not cooling. The soft drink machine was not grounded because it was connected to a receptacle outlet through an extension cord set that did not contain an equipment grounding conductor. (An adapter was being used with the machine's attachment plug.) The employee pulled on the soft drink machine and, in the process, touched a grounded snack machine nearby. A ground fault in the soft drink machine had energized it, and the employee was electrocuted. ls, dash, or gauges. Even smells good. Just added new carpet dash cover over nice dash. Behind seat in storage and spare tools complete and clean. No wear on seats.

Underneath is as clean as top with frame and wheel wells painted semi-flat black. Bottom of bed, floors painted from factory. No rust ever and no dirt or mud.

Truck needs nothing!

Truck is for sale locally and I reserve right to end this auction if successful sale.

Shipping responsibility of buyer.

Who sold the most heavy-duty pickups in 2012? PickupTrucks.com investigates

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Domestic manufacturers enjoyed a good year for heavy-duty pickup sales in 2012. PickupTrucks.com has taken a close look at exactly how those sales broke down between each manufacturer and between three-quarter and one-ton pickups. Ford sold some 67,786 F-250 Super Duty models last year with the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD falling just behind at 56,359 units. The Ram 2500 HD came in third at 41,918, while the GMC Sierra 2500 HD earned itself fourth place with 27,616 deliveries. While Ford held onto the top spot in the one-ton market, Ram easily nailed down second place by selling more 3500 HD models last year than General Motors sold Silverado 3500 HD and Sierra 3500 HD trucks combined.
So, did GM manage to sell more trucks than Ford with its two brands? Very nearly. Ford sold a total of 119,338 heavy-duty pickups to GM's 111,555. Ram, meanwhile, moved a distant 77,583. But perhaps more interesting is the diesel take rate in this segment. PickupTrucks.com says 80 percent of all domestic one-ton trucks roll from the dealer lot with a turbo-diesel under the hood. Head over to the site for a closer look at the breakdown.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

Final C6 Corvette built in Bowling Green

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

With all of the attention given to the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray lately, you could be forgiven for thinking that it's already well along in production, yet tooling up for the new C7 has only just begun. In fact, production of the outgoing C6 generation in Bowling Green, Kentucky just halted on Thursday.
As the C6 has aged, production numbers have predictably ebbed along with demand, but this year, the addition of the 427 and 60th anniversary models resulted in an uptick in vehicles built - this, despite a model year shortened by around 25 percent to accomodate the new model changeover. The final C6 Corvette ever, No. 13,466 built this year, was a white 427 Convertible destined for the General Motors Heritage Center museum. The car's 7.0-liter V8 heart was assembled by Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter himself.
In total, Bowling Green pushed out 215,100 C6 Corvettes over nine years. If you're still a C6 fan at heart and are hoping to get a good deal on a phase-out model, step lively - Chevrolet reportedly had about 6,100 unsold units, which Autoweek suggests is good for around five and a half months of supply at the model's current sales rates. Given that demand will likely slacken even further as the C7 draws closer, that should be a big enough stockpile to keep dealers satisfied until 2014 Stingrays begin showing up on their forecourts in December.
