UP FOR SALE IS A 1973 CHEVY SHORTBOX 4X4 THIS TRUCK SPENT IT'S LIFE IN CALIFORNIA SO FOR A 41 YEAR OLD TRUCK IT WOULD MAKE A DECENT PROJECT. THE TRUCK IS BEING SOLD WITH LIEN SALE PAPERS. THE TRUCK HAS A NEW ENGINE AND THE BILL WAS NEVER PAID HENCE THE LIEN SALE DOCUMENTS. IF A TITLE IS NEEDED IT CAN BE REPLACED AT THE BUYERS EXPENSE, THE TRUCK RUNS GREAT AS IT HAS A NEW ENGINE , I HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT FAR BUT IT WENT DOWN THE STREET FINE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED AND IT STOPPED THE BODY FOR AN OLD TRUCK IS PRETTY GOOD WITH THE EXCEPTION OF TWO BULLIT HOLES IN THE SIDE OF IT AND SOME A BIT OF RUST STARTING ON THE DRIVERS FLOOR. BOTH EASY REPAIRS. CHROME DROP BUMPER AND PUSH BAR. INTERIOR IS THERE BUT FAR FROM PERFECT, THIS IS BASICALLY A GREAT TRUCK TO BUILD INTO A SHOW PIECE BUT IT DOES NEED FULL RESTORATION. FRAME IS PERFECT AND ROCKERS / CAB CORNERS ARE GOOD. Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels
Thu, 24 Jan 2013The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
Conquest and controversy conclude the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona [spoilers]

For those of you still with us, the first race in the United SportsCar Championship (USCC) is done, but the discussions about it certainly won't end for a while. Daytona Prototypes claimed the first four overall places, the top spot taken by the No. 5 Action Express Coyote-Chevrolet Corvette DP driven by Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi, Sebastien Bourdain and Burt Friselle. The 16th and final caution of the race bunched the field up for an eight-minute sprint to the flag, so the first place getter finished just 1.4 seconds ahead of the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Dallara-Chevrolet Corvette DP driven by Max Angelelli. Third place went to Brian Friselle in the No. 9 Action Express Chevrolet Corvette DP, 20 seconds down. Chevrolet power hasn't taken the overall win since 2003, eleven years later it scores a one-two-three-four. The No. 6 Muscle Milk/Pickett Racing ORECA-Nissan 03 scored fifth place, the top LMP2 finisher.
The Prototype Challenge class win went to the No. 54 CORE Autosport team of Colin Braun, Jon Bennett, Mark Wilkins and James Gue.
Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war
Sun, 30 Dec 2012A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?
