This is a no reserve auction.  Please do not send me messages asking what the reserve is.

Please do not bid on my truck if you are not serious.  If you and a buddy are pulling a scam by bidding my truck up and then backing out at the last minute to scare off other bidders, I will report you to Ebay for auction tampering.

Please feel free to ask questions about the truck before bidding, but please don't wait until the last hours of the auction.  Also, please be patient with my responses as I am usually quite busy.

Up on the auction block is my 1977 Chevrolet Cheyenne truck.  It is a pretty clean mostly original truck.  As far as the body is concerned, it is above average for the age of the truck.  I am pretty sure this truck has been in the Colorado desert it's whole life.  There are no rust outs now as I have replaced both lower cab corners and both front fender lower rear sections with new patch panels from LMC truck.  I also modified the inner panels to not hold dirt and debris in these areas anymore as to prevent future rust issues. Everything else is solid and rust free.  I have had a few of these trucks and this by far is the most rust free one I have ever seen.

Obviously it has been repainted. The paint was faded and I just decided to respray the whole thing after the rust was repaired.   It has 3 fresh coats of PPG Omni factory color code GM 25 light blue metallic on it.  The paint looks really good, but it does have some flaws.  If you are expecting a perfect show quality paint job this probably isn't the truck for you.

Mechanically it is in decent shape.  I have replaced the spark plugs, ignition coil, cleaned the distributor grounds, replaced the starter, set ignition timing and adjusted the carb.  The engine runs good, starts every time, runs nice and cool and has great oil pressure.

The brakes have plenty of material left on both the front pads and rear shoes.  All brake components seem to be in good shape other than a couple of grooves in the left front brake rotor.

It cruises nice and smooth down the highway.

I have disassembled, cleaned and greased the shift lever for the 4 wheel drive so it shifts into 4x4 with ease.

All dash gauges, lights and accessories work except as described below in the "Problems" section.

I do have the A/C compressor and brackets, but it is currently not installed.

Features include:
350 small block V8
Th350 automatic transmission
4 barrel Rochester carburator
Part time 4 wheel drive with high/low range
Manual locking hubs
Power steering
Power brakes
Front disc brakes
A/C
Tilt column
Dual side gas tanks

Modifications made:
Dual exhaust
Edelbrock intake manifold
Dual batteries with isolator   (currently only 1 battery is installed)
Chrome step bumper with receiver hitch

Problems include:
Left side fuel tank not hooked up
Front left brake rotor has grooves, but brake pads are still good.
Front drive shaft CV joint is loose
Carpet is worn
Dash pad has some splits
General wear for age
Missing stereo  ( I do have a brand new, still in the box aftermarket tape deck that can be purchased separately.  Please message me if you want pictures of it)
Tailgate is dented
A/C not working

I am offering to the winner of this auction the option of  repairing all of the above items except for the A/C at a super discounted labor price of $18.00 per flat rate hour.  The winner is responsible for all parts costs if they choose to use my services.  I am more than happy to give a price quote on all or some of these items if you are interested prior to the auction ending.

As with every auction I've ever done, I am sure there is something I have forgotten.  Again, please feel free to contact me about any questions you have or if you want some more pictures.

Thanks for looking and good luck.

Chevy Corvette Stingray "colorizer" lets you chase the rainbow

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

After you've convinced your better half to let you buy a new Corvette, then comes the hard part... actually figuring out which 'Vette you want. While Chevrolet has yet to release the official configurator for the 2014 Corvette Stingray, it did give us something else to kill some time playing around with.
The C7 Corvette "colorizer" recently went online, and it lets you look at the car in all of its available colors and wheel options from four different angles so that when this car does go on sale, you know exactly which one you want. It includes the Corvette's full pallet of colors including Torch Red, Laguna Blue and the hue you see above, Velocity Yellow. Toss in the black wheels, and we're sold. If you have some time this afternoon, be sure to check it out the Corvette colorizer for yourself, and even if you don't have the time, we've put together a gallery with all of the possible color combinations.

Chevy exec confirms SS production model reveal at Daytona on Feb 16

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet SS will make its racing debut for the 2013 Daytona 500, but the production version of the car will get its official unveiling on February 16 in Daytona, a week before The Great American Race. According to a report by Automotive News, the reveal has been confirmed by Jim Campbell, Chevy's US vice president of performance and motorsports. With the departure of the Dodge Charger, the new Chevrolet racecar will be the only competitor to feature a V8, rear-wheel-drive layout in both street and NASCAR form.
NASCAR fans will be able to see the new fullsize performance-oriented sedan on display in the festivities leading up to the Daytona 500, but the car won't go on sale until later in the year. The Australian-built Chevy SS will be a low-volume performance model, and it will be priced above the 2014 Impala, which starts at $27,535.

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
