1969 Chevy C20 Longhorn Edition on 2040-cars
Beatrice, Nebraska, United States
We bought the truck last summer for our 16 year old son as a restoration project. He has decided he doesn’t want to “fix up the truck”…so we bought a 1986 Chevy K10 that was already done. The 1969 is the most iconic year for the vintage Chevy Trucks, in my mind.
Here are the assets of the truck (which was named Bulla by our son) The truck is a great truck mechanically Everything works as it should It starts Drives nice Doesn’t use or leak any fluids The tires are in good shape The rims are very nice. Is a Factory A/C Truck – which means the pieces are there to run A/C this summer. It will need a Compressor. It is the Rare Longhorn edition – The truck has a 8’6”bed. In 1969, the bed would have been wood. Somewhere along the way someone welded in a diamond plate bed. It has no RUST inside the bed – on the floor or sides. The frame is solid.
The liabilities: Passenger side rocker is virtually gone Minor Dings & Dents Pinhole rust on the outside of the bed – all has been treated with Rust Kill Rust on Drip Rail
It could be a great daily driver. It has a great patina to it and we get compliments all the time. This year of truck has each andevery piece reproduced – so it is a easy project truck, if someone wanted to restore it. Redone it is valued around $10-15,000 according to Hagerty. Here are some current prices of the repair parts from LMC Truck’s Website – https://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/CB/full.aspx?Page=4
As you can see the parts are very reasonable, if you felt thedesire to restore this truck. |

Fewer than 1 in 3 Chevy dealers earn right to initially sell C7 Corvette
Mon, 01 Apr 2013Looking to make the launch of the 2014 Corvette Stingray as efficient as possible, Chevrolet will be limiting the numbers of its dealers that can sell the all-new coupe and convertible. According to Automotive News, sales of the C7 Corvette will initially be limited to less than a third of Chevy's total dealership network when the 'Vette goes on sale this summer.
Only 900 dealers out of more than 3,000 locations nationwide will be allowed to sell the new Corvette at first, and the reason for this is so that there are no shortages at dealers that can actually get the cars sold. The article says that the 900 dealerships chosen represented 80 percent of total Corvette sales in 2012.
Some of the requirements dealers had to make to get initial allocation of Stingray sales include having sold at least four Corvettes in 2012 and having a Corvette Stingray specialist who will be required to have gone through a training session costing more than $2,000 per attendee. Once demand for the 2014 Corvette Stingray begins to subside - approximately six to nine months after it goes on sale - then allocation could open up to more dealers, but the report indicates this could happen following the 2014 model year.
The 2014 Chevrolet SS sedan is for drivers who value performance above all else
Sat, 16 Feb 2013The car you see above is the 2014 Chevrolet SS, and it's important both because it is the first rear-wheel-drive performance sedan from Chevy in 17 years, and because it will be the nameplate the brand uses on NASCAR tracks all across the country starting this year.
Though it wears a name as American as baseball and apple pie, the machine was actually designed and built in Australia, sharing most of its parts with the brand-new VF-model Holden Commodore. That said, the basic chassis bits are shared with other Chevrolet models like the Camaro and Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle.
While Chevrolet is happy to sell a Malibu or Impala to anyone looking for a mainstream family sedan, but the SS is reserved for buyers interested first and foremost in performance. Most sedans sold these days are front-wheel drive, which is great for everyday driving and when the weather goes bad, but the SS is instead a rear-wheel-drive vehicle aimed at enthusiasts who love to drive and who prefer speed and performance above all else.
GM applies for LT5, LTX trademarks... are new small block variants coming?
Mon, 29 Apr 2013Recently discovered General Motors trademark applications for LT4, LT5, LT88 and LTX have observers wondering what kind of high-performance offerings could be on their way. A new LT4 would mark a return of the engine designation first used on the Corvette Grand Sport, SLP Pontiac Firehawk and SLP Chevrolet Camaro SS from 1996 and 1997. Supposition at Corvette Forum - which provided advance intel on the C7 like these leaked images - believes a new LT4 could go into the high-performance trim of the next-gen, 2015 Camaro that would be more powerful than the 580-horsepower Camaro ZL1.
Seeing an LT5 again would also be déjà vu - in its former life it was a 5.7-liter V8 for the C4 Corvette ZR-1 from 1990-1994 designed by Lotus, producing from 370 hp to 405 hp. A mix of rumor and hope is that the new LT5 will be a supercharged evolution of the 6.2-liter LT1 (pictured) placed in the new C7 Corvette, and that it will go into the C7 version of the ZR1 pumping out something like 700 hp.
The LTX trademark is, as with that last letter, a complete mystery. If the "X" isn't a generic way to denote the whole LT family, it's wondered if it LTX could refer to a crate motor offering like the LSX.
