1980 Camaro Z28 Running Driving Solid Car With Video on 2040-cars
Johnson City, Tennessee, United States
Up for auction is my 1980 Camaro Z28. I purchased this car with the intentions of restoring it. I simply don't have the time and it has set in my garage for way to long. I will begin by asking that you don't judge a book by its cover. The car has set in the carport for a long time as you can tell by the paint. The paint is extremely faded. The benefit has it has been somewhat protected from the elements. The body is really solid. By the pictures I hope you can see that they're no rust holes except the rear trunk extension behind the rear glass as can be seen in the pictures and hopefully video if I can get it on here. The body has places that the paint has chipped and surface rust is present. The passenger side rear floor pan has a very small amount of rust as can also be seen in pictures. A small patch would be all that would be needed, it is in no way in need of a replacement pan. The hood air induction still opens as it should. The trunk lid will not stay up as I believe the bars may have came loose. That also is a simple fix. The interior is really decent for the year. It will need carpet. Headliner is in good shape. The rear side panels are faded and the old window tint is in need of replacement as it isn't even dark anymore. It has tilt column and is tight. The engine I believe is a 350 ( I will try and run the numbers and find exactly what is. Has small cam, headers, aluminum intake and Holley 4bbl carb. The engine runs good with no noises and no smoke and is really strong. Has a good sounding exhaust note. The carb does have a slight hesitation until it warms up. Hit the key and it fires right up without hesitation. The transmission shifts solid and firm. I cant tell you the exact gear but I would guess at least a 3:73 judging by driving it. It will leave two black makes as long as you want to hold it. The car drives and handles well but does has a pinhole leak in the power steering hose. Car stops good. With the exception of the tires being cracked from age and setting I would drive it anywhere. All lights and signals work. This car is solid and after a set of tires can be driven anywhere. Paint and carpet and you will have a nice cruiser. I am sure I am forgetting several thing but I will update as I remember. I have a open clear Tennessee title in hand. Last time titled was in 07 and has been setting most of the time since then. The mileage is 101000 and will go up as I drive it. If I can answer any questions please ask. I am setting a reserve and is well worth it. I will not disclose the reserve as it wouldn't be fair to others. If it doesn't meet the reserve then I will keep it. This car is NOT for sale locally and I will not be ending the auction early because of that. Saying that the winning bid gets the car. Please be serious if you bid, no reason to place a bid if you aren't serious. Please if you are close you are more than welcome to come inspect the car. I will put pictures on but if you want certain shots please let me know. Thanks for looking.

Ford, Toyota clean up in Best Car For The Money Awards
Fri, 22 Feb 2013The U.S. News Best Cars for the Money Awards picks winners by looking at the average transaction price, five-year total cost of ownership, the regard a car has from the automotive press, reliability figures from J.D. Power and Associates and safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The result, according to the magazine, is "the best combination of critical acclaim and long-term value."
Ford nabbed six of the 21 categories that received awards this year, the Focus, Fusion, Fusion Hybrid, Taurus, Escape and Edge getting trophies. Toyota and its Lexus and Scion sub-brands took another five, the Tacoma and Tundra owning the two categories given to pickup trucks. The other ten awards were split between Honda with three, Buick with two, and one each for Subaru, BMW, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Mazda.

Man surprises girlfriend with C7 Corvette
Mon, 07 Oct 2013How would you react if someone just showed up at your place of work with a new, 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, complete with all the trimmings? While a lot of us would likely be flipping out over the still rare sports car, it's a fair bet many more of us would be responding like Pattie here, whose boyfriend stopped by her work to show her her new C7.
Speechless and shocked as she seems, she does end up taking it out for a drive, despite claiming she wasn't really outfitted to handle the car's seven-speed manual transmission at the time. From the sound of the video, we got the impression that she knew the car was coming, just not that it was anywhere near ready for delivery. It also, as Pattie says, seems like her boyfriend is more excited about the car than she (which, can we blame him?). Take a look down below for the full video of this C7 Stingray delivery.
800k car names trademarked globally, suddenly alphanumerics seem reasonable
Tue, 01 Oct 2013What's in a name? This cliched phrase probably gets tossed out at every marketing meeting that happens when a new car gets its nomenclature. We know the answer, though: everything. The name of a car has all the potential to make or break it with fickle customers that are more conscious than ever about what their purchases say about them.
That's giving headaches to marketing folks across the automotive industry. "It's tough. In 1985 there were about 75,000 names trademarked in the automotive space. Today there are 800,000," Chevrolet's head of marketing, Russ Clark, told Automotive News. Infiniti's president, Johan de Nysschen, echoed Clark's sentiment, saying, "The truth of the matter is, across the world, there is hardly a name or a letter that hasn't already been claimed by one car manufacturer or another. You can go through the alphabet - A, B, C and so forth - and you will quickly see that almost all available letters are taken."
What has that left automakers to do? Get creative. In the case of Infiniti, it made the controversial move to bring all of its cars' names into a new scheme, classifying them as Q#0 for cars and QX#0 for SUVs and crossovers. So the Infiniti G, which was available as the G25 and G37, is now the Q50. The FX37 and FX50 are now the QX70.
