The condition of the exterior, interior and engine can vary depending on the vehicle's history. See the seller's listing for full details and description of any imperfections.Seller Notes:"Hood shocks need replaced, a couple of gauges aren't reading properly, CC not working. AC needs recharged. A motor mount is loose and you will feel a thud under hard acceleration (no problems if you take it easy). Two leaks: oil leak presumably at oil pressure sending unit; exhaust leak near downpipe. Headliner is torn and will need reupholstery if you plan on cruising topless often-- it tends to rip with wind."

You are looking at an '87 IROC-Z with 175,000 miles, strong 5.7L engine, and an automatic transmission that shifts like a champ.  A true classic, she hasn't lost her step, and not a day goes by that I don't get compliments from complete strangers.

The wheels alone are a sight--  Rare 5-spoke 16" alloys wrapped in 245 / 50 tires.  Good bit of tread left.

Removable T-Tops are functional and in excellent condition.

Interior is in fair shape, with few modifications, including a black upholstered dash and headliner, slapstick shifter, aftermarket steering wheel, custom center console and racing-style bucket seats.  Headliner has ripped at the ceiling-- not an issue unless you plan on cruising topless often.  MP3 CD player with USB port installed.

Exhaust sounds amazing, granted there's a single Flowmaster pipe.  A full system will complete the symphony.

There is one oil leak which appears to be at the oil pressure sending unit.  No other fluid leaks or smoke.  New radiator installed, new battery, air filters, front brake pads.  Very little rust-- a couple of tiny, spotted patches.  I am not the original owner, however the VIN will show a clean carfax report and I have the clean title in hand.

As with most vehicles this age, there are a few quirks.  Hood shocks need replaced, one of the interior door handles is broken and a couple of gauges aren't reading properly.  CC not working.  AC needs recharged.  A motor mount is loose and you will feel a thud under hard acceleration (no problems if you drive normally).  There is also an exhaust leak near the downpipe.

This is the ideal platform for an enthusiast looking for a project with little investment required in restoration.  Reliable and stunning as-is, she simply needs some TLC.

Included with the car is the door handle that needs replaced, new spark plugs/wires, and a front hood bra.

Willing to drive the vehicle to YOU, anywhere within the 48 states, so long as you can help cover fuel expenses (can work out a deal).  Winning bidder will pay upon receiving the vehicle: an even transaction.  Cash highly preferred.

The story of the 2014 Chevrolet SS: "Luxury, power, refinement, handling"

Thu, 07 Mar 2013

Not including the women and men who built it, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has only been seen in person by a piddling number of people - fewer humans than would fill the gymnasium at a high school volleyball game. Not including the men and women who built it, no one has driven it. Even so, it is already saddled with two controversies: the way it looks and the way it shifts.
First to that shifting. Did we love the last Americanized Holden, the awesomely sportsome Pontiac G8 GXP, and its six-speed manual? Of course. Do we wish the SS came with a six-speed manual? Of course. But we'd like a toboggan to come with a manual transmission. We'd put a manual transmission on a weasel if we could because we're just wired that way; if it moves, it should come with a stick and a clutch. Or at least the option.
Let's climb down off the ledge, though. We haven't driven the SS and we have no idea how good (or not) the automatic is. And the Hobson's Choice in transmissions when it comes to sport sedans like the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Jaguar XFR-S and, oh yeah, cars-that-really-should-have-manuals like the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R and Porsche 918 and every single Lamborghini and Ferrari, for instance, hasn't stopped us from enjoying what is clearly the gruesome, dual-clutched demise of Western automotive civilization. Because in spite of our ululations at the dying of the six-speed light, we understand.

Are you the 2014 Corvette Grand Sport?

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

When are stripes more than just stripes? Follow up question: Is the product development team at Chevrolet really cocky enough to hide the next C7 Corvette variant in plain sight? This very recently spotted, and ostensibly obscured C7 asks a lot more questions than it answers, but there's at least some evidence to support that it might be the next Corvette Grand Sport.
The first and most obvious tip-off that something is up with this 'Vette revolves around those silver stripes. Obviously the stripes themselves don't necessarily denote a new model. However, when Chevy recently launched its "colorizer" website for the Stingray, there was no provision made for racing stripes - solid colors only.
Grand Sport exhibit number two is actually an incriminating lack of badges. The production Corvettes we've seen to date have all carried Stingray badges on their fenders, just behind the vent. The car seen in these images has no such badges, which is an intriguing omission on an car that looks like a production-spec vehicle otherwise.

Dodge vs. Chevy tug-of-war taken to the extreme

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

They say "idle hands are the devil's playground," but said playgrounds grow to Disney-sized proportions when a pair of jacked-up trucks, two egos, a chain and an empty mall parking lot are involved. Proof of this is the video below, which shows a Cummins-powered Dodge Ram circa 2006 to 2008 chained tail-to-tail with what looks to be a gasoline-powered Chevrolet Silverado from the late 1990s or early 2000s.
We don't necessarily have to tell you who wins this battle, but we'll let you see for yourself the lengths the "winning" driver goes to prove his point. There's plenty of foul language in the video below, so beware that this might be Not Safe For Work, and not that we should have to tell you, but please, do not try this at home.
