I had listed this as a local sale but now I'm listing as an auction. If you saw the local listing I have new information that I'm posting here. I thought the car had a 3.1L but it's actually a 5.0. Also, the car report shows two accidents. The first one was moderate damage but it was fully repaired (hit in rear) and the second was a fender-bender (also repaired) that my wife does not even remember, so it must not have been significant. 1991 Chevy Camaro RS Convertible. My wife is the original owner and obviously at 166,720 miles she got her money's worth. We've held onto it with the idea that we might restore it some day but between the economy and other priorities we just can't justify the expense. This car was garage-kept for much of it's life, but as you can see in the pictures, the Florida sun takes its toll on everything when it's outside. The car will start and I drove it to its present location about a year ago. However, I wouldn't drive it very far. It definitely needs a brake job. If you buy it and drive it away you do so at your own risk. We do not have the ability to ship or deliver this car. You buy it, you move it. If you buy it from out of state you can arrange to have it picked up and we'll cooperate with you. I would consider this a definite project car. The dashboard top is cracked and the interior is a little rough. The AC turns on but I don't know if it blows cold. The catalytic converter makes noise until the car warms up, etc. etc. As such things go we've gotten multiple offers to buy it over the last few years, but now that we're ready to sell no one has said anything. They definitely don't make them like this any more and I think it would be a lot of fun to drive around once you get it all cleaned up and back in shape. It was driven regularly until about 3 years ago. No returns. You buy it, it's yours. Car needs to be picked up or shipping arranged by the buyer within two weeks. There is no reserve.

Hot Wheels' Twitter-enabled vending machine coughs up free Camaro diecasts
Wed, 27 Feb 2013There are still plenty of companies that haven't gotten the whole social media thing down pat yet, but Hot Wheels isn't one of them. During the recent Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Hot Wheels created a lot of buzz for itself by using a vending machine filled with Chevrolet Camaro models, but instead of money to get the cars, show attendees just had to use Twitter.
To get the free car, people were asked to send a tweet to Hot Wheels Canada saying what they liked about the new Hot Wheels Edition Camaro, and including the #ChevyCIAS hashtag. This seemed to be a popular marketing tool, too, as AdWeek reports that the @HotWheelsCanada account more than tripled in followers during the course of the 10-day show. Looking ahead, this could open up even more innovative marketing possibilities using social media.
Check out the video posted below to watch how it works, and while the auto show has ended and the free-car giveaway has too, we're almost certain that some of the 1,500 freebies will make their way onto eBay.
Watch NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon put one over on a used car dealer... sorta
Wed, 13 Mar 2013Full Disclosure: in my younger days, I loved nothing more than tormenting passengers with my behind-the-wheel hijinks. Once, after a particularly artful handbrake turn on a two-lane at around 50 miles per hour, I left one backseat occupant crying in their own lap. This isn't necessarily something to be proud of, but it gives you a glimpse into why it is that I find this ad from Pepsi so damn disappointing. The premise is beautiful. Take NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, give him a disguise and set him loose upon some unsuspecting used car dealer. Hilarity ensues.
Except that this Pepsi Max commercial is so obviously staged, it can't help but feel like some ham-fisted marketing fail. From the strategically placed aftermarket cupholder mounted mid-dash for the hidden camera to the fact that the supposed dealer Camaro is displayed as a 2009 model (Hint: Chevrolet didn't make any), this clip is about as organic as a Twinkie. Still, we would never turn down a chance to watch Gordon thrash on a rental-spec coupe - only problem is, he probably didn't even do the driving himself. Check it out below.
Expect greater differentiation in GM's next-generation SUVs
Thu, 03 Jan 2013General Motors says its next-generation Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade models will offer shoppers improved interior differentiation. Car and Driver recently caught up with Chris Hilts, GM's creative manager of interior design, who said that the cabins will all feature unique instrument panels, consoles, center stacks and switchgear moving forward. Apparently GM is now aware that consumers may be bothered by the fact that today's $85,000 Escalade has effectively the same cabin as a $45,000 Tahoe. Hilts says SUV buyers want more refinement than their pickup purchasing counterparts - and those same buyers also want their SUVs to have more exterior differentiation between the company's Silverado and Sierra pickup lines. Shocking.
That all sounds good to us, but we've heard this song and dance before. GM made big waves about how different the new-for-2013 Silverado and Sierra would look from each other, but judging by what we've seen so far, GM's stylists are painting in shades rather than with the full spectrum.
