I'm selling my 1995 cherry red Camaro.  It has low miles on it - 106,863.  I have another car and no longer need this car and don't want to continue paying insurance on it.  The car has low miles and is very sporty and fast, not to mention fun to drive.  The body is in great condition including the paint job.  This car got comments.  People would say, 'you have a nice car.'  Although the gas mileage is not bad, (it's the V6 3.4L version and I think I was getting lower 20's in it) I had another car I was using for deliveries and have not been using this car.  Also it was beginning to have an intermittent problem which Pep Boys told me was (probably) electrical.  I took it to the electrical shop that could not diagnose it after a couple of days and I didn't have time to keep working on it, so it has been parked.  The mechanic could not find anything wrong with it for 3-4 days and said it ran fine for him, drove it home, etc.  The issue I was having was it would rough idle sometimes and want to cut off immediately after starting.  I think it may have something to do with the fuel filter/fuel pump.

Other than that everything else seemed to run fine.  Engine drove very smooth and was fast.  Automatic transmission shifts smooth and ran great.  Tires are very nice.  Also the factory speaker system is still in which was a tape player with radio.  The speakers sound nice though!  Never thought to change them, and they get plenty loud.  Everything else seemed to run fine.  The coolant system never needed to be filled and it wasn't leaking oil.  It also will seat five people and has a back seat, surprisingly, and some trunk space.  It has a very nice tint on the back and side windows that is not too dark but looks sexy and is in good condition.

As far as little things.  The trunk does not stay open on its own, there is a handle to prop it open if needed.  The driver side mirror is loose but you can get it to stay where you need to.  The interior is in nice condition but there are a couple of holes in the sides of the front seats where you can see a little bit of the stuffing, but it isn't bad.  Also the headliner is loose and sags down but not too far.  The shocks are worn on one or both sides, but actually sits the car a little lower which makes look a little cooler (some people pay to have a car lowered).  All of the lights and turn signals work except one of the headlights is now out, which seemed to be a problem from the electrical issue.  All of the gauges work too, and the brakes of course.  One thing about the A/C though.  The A/C was working fine for me and was cold before parking the car.  After starting and trying the A/C before listing, it isn't blowing cold air anymore (it may just be low on coolant).  I have no idea, might be a quick fix or not.  The heater should work though as the blower fan is circulating air and was recently replaced.  Exhaust system looks good.  I had to put power steering fluid in it a couple of times.

So anyways, I love this car but must depart with it.  Honestly it has been my favorite car I have ever owned, but I don't have the time to work on it.  Also, it's my second car so I just need the cash.  This could be a great car for a mechanic or someone who knows what they are doing.  Also might be a great first car for someone.  Or maybe you want to drop a huge engine in it.  Would be a great project muscle car.  This car looks cool and is awesome and fun to drive!  I really did get comments from people and this was a fun car to drive.  Needs a new home.

Race Recap: 2013 Twelve Hours of Sebring, cakewalk up front, grindfest out back [w/spoilers]

Tue, 19 Mar 2013

This year's 12 Hours of Sebring wasn't exactly a foregone conclusion because we're still talking about racing, and anything can happen when the speeds are as high as the adrenaline and the desire. But we're still talking about Audi bringing it's two top-spec racers - and its huge budget and its nearly neurotic attention to detail - to a race that it uses as a test bed for The 24 Hours of Le Mans and as a way to open the endurance racing season with a victory.
Besides, 12 hours is a long time, especially at Sebring, and things didn't go all Audi's way. On top of that, although it was a pretty quiet race, behind the Audis things got even grimier, with plenty of battles, plenty of mechanical issues, and the new BMW Z4 GTE and Viper GTS-R being race tested. Oh, and that brand new chromed-out DeltaWing...

Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction

Sun, 17 Feb 2013

It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.

Mother's Day Suggestion No. 2,506

Thu, 02 May 2013

With Mother's Day coming up, we're always looking for new gift ideas to celebrate the occasion, but hot laps around a track might not be the best suggestion for Darius Khashabi. In a video posted on YouTube, Khashabi straps his mom into the passenger seat of his C6 Corvette Z06 for some laps around Sonoma Raceway (formerly Infineon Raceway) at "60 percent" with comical results.
Now this isn't the first time Mama Khashabi has gotten seat time in her son's car around a track, as his YouTube page shows him pulling a similar stunt - with similar results - around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca last year. Scroll down for the video, but know that the action really gets going at around the 1:40 mark.
