This is a fully documented, original, rare and iconic 2011 Indianapolis 500 Festival Pace Car. Only 50 Festival cars were built by General Motors for track duty at Indianapolis during the month of May 2011, for the 100th anniversary of the Indy 500! It is destined to become a classic. These Festival cars are usually reserved for private sales between collectors and are very rarely offered to the public. I was lucky enough to secure this car from a well connected person who bought this Camaro via a Certificate of Origin from Penske Chevrolet in Indianapolis. I have that original paperwork. In total, there were 500 Indy Pace car "replicas" made in 2011. But that pales in comparison to the fact that ONLY 50 Festival cars were manufactured for ACTUAL USE AT INDIANAPOLIS AT THE INDY 500. Each Festival car was assigned to a VIP for parade duties, track laps and various other functions throughout the month of May. This particular Festival car is #44 and was assigned to A.J. Foyt's driver, Izod Series Indy driver, Vitor Meira for parades, etc. I have tons of documentation, including plenty of photographs of the driver in the car and at various festival events. This is a truly unique opportunity for you to own this special Camaro. Some of the unique items in a Festival Camaro Pace Car vs. a "replica" are: 100th Anniversary decal on the front quarter panels, On the windshield, CAMARO across the top, the #44 decal, the Mike's Car Wash bar code sticker, the Indianapolis Flag Lot decal. Inside, the red trimmed floor mats and the serial numbered Indy decal on the dash. (Anything less and it's a "replica". This is a real deal Festival Pace Car, so BUY IT while you can!) This Camaro is everything you could want in a modern muscle car: High performance 400+hp 6.2L V-8 with 6-speed automatic transmission and limited slip differential. <<<I've installed a K&N chrome cold air intake, but I have all the original intake parts that will go with the car. That is the only modification done to the car and it can be uninstalled in 30 minutes.>>> A 3M clear bra was also professionally installed on the front bumper. It will have you grinning every time you take it out for a cruise. It is unbelievable how much attention this Camaro gets when it is on the road! Everyone loves this car and you will stand out among the rest of the Camaros...this car is a blast to drive! It is still under full GM--bumper to bumper--factory warranty until May 2014. It has 6200 miles and drives like new. The only reason I am selling is to buy a new ZL1. It is hard to let this one go, but it's time. The car is at my home in Virginia and I am happy to arrange an inspection or help you with shipping. My reserve is less than fair market value, so if you're a serious buyer, let's talk. Call me FIVE FOUR O-903-8030. Dan Click the link below for about about 75 pictures of this beautiful car: A $500.00 non refundable deposit required within 48 hours of auction ending. This car is advertised locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Thanks for looking and enjoy the pictures! |

GM recalling over 243,000 crossovers over possible seat belt defect
Tue, 17 Aug 20102010 Buick Enclave - Click above for high-res image gallery
The summer of 2010's recall hit parade continues unabated today, with General Motors having just announced that it is asking 243,403 owners of its 2009-2010 Lambda crossovers to bring their three-row haulers in for inspection. The culprit? Second-row seat belts in select Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook CUVs have "failed to perform properly in a crash."
According to GM, a second-row seat-side trim piece is to blame, as it can impede the upward rotation of the buckle after the seat is folded flat. As a result, if the buckle makes contact with the seat frame, cosmetic damage can occur, potentially requiring additional force to operate the buckle properly. So far, no great shakes, but in the process of applying that additional force, the occupant may push the buckle cover down to the strap, potentially revealing and depressing the red release button. As a result of this, the belt may not latch, or in certain cases, it may actually appear to be latched when, in fact, it isn't.
Chevy monitors drivers' biometrics while experiencing new Corvette Stingray
Fri, 25 Oct 2013We tell you about what a car is like to drive every day, remarking on throttle response, steering weight and feedback, squat, dive, brake fade and a dozen or more other factors of performance. What we can't tell you, though, is what the car does to us - how its performance impacts us, physically. That's what makes this video series from Chevrolet so darn cool.
The Bow-Tie brand rented out Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, got several (very) different individuals together, strapped a bunch of sensors to their bodies to record biometric data ranging from heart rate to respiration to brain activity, and then handed them keys to the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The results are explained in a series of videos, devoted to each driver, showing how different people react to the Corvette's performance.
If, like your author, you're a nerd for medical science, this is going to be a fascinating set of videos. If not, it's still pretty cool to see how the body of someone with racing experience, like Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, reacts to tracking a car like the Corvette Stingray compared to the owner of legendary Detroit barbecue joint, Slows BBQ. Take a look below for all six videos from the series, or hop over to the Corvette Vimeo channel for the interactive experience, where you can see all the different metrics.
Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit
Mon, 20 Jun 2011Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
