Real Deal SLP car. Not a clone!
 photo DSC_1725.jpg photo DSC_1735.jpg photo DSC_1773.jpg
According to research I have done, this is 1 of 2 SLP cars with these options produced in 1998. One of the cleanest bodies around! Southern car and never exposed to salt or winter weather EVER!

Please read the entire description. I have included over 150 photos. Please scroll down to view all of the additional photos of the car. I tried to get all the angles for you to view even the underside, wheel wells, and many other angles showing how clean this car really is.

I owned a Camaro SS in the past wanted another right away. However I wanted to find a white one which proved to be difficult. The ones that I found were torn apart, rusted, or just molested basket cases. I searched for 6 months before pulling the trigger on this car here. It is basically stock with the exception of intake lid and a single Magnaflow tip out the rear in place of the quad tips that were on the SLP installed Loudmouth exhaust. I have several other vehicles and have picked up more time at work and it is not reasonable to keep the car since I don't have time to enjoy it. I would really like the car to go to someone who will truly appreciate it.  On to the details....

I have started sorting some of the small issues that the car had when I purchased it. All of the work & parts listed below has been done in the past year:

Full Radiator/Cooling system flush with TSP and refill with GM DexCool
2nd Generation water pump
SLP 160 Deg Thermostat
Gates Green belt
Factory power steering cooler removed (included if wanted)and V6 upper hose installed with remote PermaCool aluminum cooler installed.
New high pressure power steering line
New power steering pump
New EGR valve
New Coolant temp sending unit
New fuel filter
New NGK spark plugs
Intake Lid and K&N drop in filter
New Nitto NT555 tires on the front. Rears are useable but should be replaced in the near future.
Brand new OEM GM center console with lid (hard to find and very expensive)
New dash cover/pad
Second set of floor mats to protect rare tan OEM SLP mats.
Brand new OEM GM remote/fob and batteries
New hood struts
New hatch struts
Current registration
Current State safety and emissions inspection

Also included with the sale of the car but not shown in photos:

"Take off" OEM SLP suspension (shocks & springs) from an 01 model that was upgraded to coilovers at 1500 miles.
Black front bumper insert (I liked the look without it)
Two chrome 17" 5 spoke wheels (same style shown in photos.)
4 Brand new OEM SLP Chrome SS center caps
Replacement SS decals for center caps
Used Replacement AC compressor
Another set of tan sunvisors
Tan T top shades

Mechanical & Condition Details:

I am an honest person and have nothing to hide about the car. I am not in a position where I have to or must sell it so if it does not sell I will just keep it. The car runs and drives good and strong. It is a solid car and I would drive it anywhere. No funny noises and it isn't some rattle trap. The car is super clean and rust free. It has never seen salt as it has always been a southern car. The hood front bumper cover were removed by the previous owner and resprayed due to rock chips. The paint work is very good. I wanted to be sure the rest of the car was just as nice and had the black top bar and spoiler repainted since there were some clearcoat issues. Again, all of the paint work is VERY good work and most people do not even know I had it done. It was all done with PPG materials.  I stored the car for a couple of months. During that time the AC quit blowing cold. I had it put on a vacuum and it held a charge for about a week. It was determined that the ceramic seal on the front of the compressor is leaking. I am including a used replacement AC compressor with the sale of the car but it will need to be installed and the system will need to be charged.  The driver side window needs the bottom roller replaced, sometimes it will pop off of the roller. I am including a replacement roller. I disconnected the passenger window since I believe it needs a regulator or motor and was acting funny. It was hard to get it to line up properly. This was the next issue I was going to tackle. I was just going to order up two window regulators and some new tracks and install them in both the doors. I believe this is the best solution. Due to the alignment issues on the windows it will leak for obvious reasons. Most F body forums have threads on how to adjust these since it is a common issue with these cars.  As far as the interior goes it shows well for a 17 year old vehicle. There are some stains on the carpet, There is heavy wear on the steering wheel. I have replaced the center console with a brand new GM unit with the lid. This was a very expensive and hard to find part.  I replaced the shifter bezel with one that has a functioning ashtray lid. The car also has a new top dash pad. The passenger seat is in great shape, the rear seats look great, the driver seat is in good shape with the exception of one side bolster as pictured. I received a quote from a local guy that will replace it for $100.  The headliner is down a bit in the front but could easily be remedied. I replaced the switches in the passenger door. The driver side switch bezel pops out but again this is a pretty simple fix. There is a small stone chip that spread to about 2.5 inches as shown in photos.  I may sound like I am picking the car apart but I am pretty picky and want to be upfront about everything.

Please ask any questions before placing a bid if you have any doubt. Also if you have to go ask your mom, wife, dog or any other family member before purchasing a car please be sure you do so. I am serious about selling the car, please be serious about buying it. The car is offered for sale in other venues and the listing could end at anytime should a sale take place.

Payment and shipping:
A $500.00 paypal deposit is due at the end of the auction. Balance with certified funds, wire transfer, or face to face transfer of cash, is due in 5 days unless prior arrangements have been made. Again please have financing in place if you are planning on going that route. The car and title will not leave my possession until all funds have cleared.   I will assist with shipping as much as I can however all shipping arrangments are to be made by the buyer. I can get the car to a local shipping terminal or transporter at no charge.

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.

GM recalls full-size truck, SUVs and vans over faulty shifter mechanism

Mon, 07 Jan 2013

Twelve different General Motors vehicles from the 2013 model year, up to 54,686 units in total, are being recalled over two potential issues with their steering columns. The models in question, all full-size trucks, SUVs or vans, are the: Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Savana, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL.
The affected vehicles were built with a fractured parking lock cable or "a malformed steering column lock actuator gear in the lock module assembly." As a consequence, they could shift out of park without the brake pedal being applied or with the key removed or in the off position.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that the recall should begin on January 17. GM will notify owners, at which time they can take their vehicles to their dealers for repair free of charge. Have a look at the bulletin below for more information.

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"
