1966 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed, true Super Sport 138 Vin. Let me start out by saying that I got this car from a family that I know, the car belonged to the husband who I was friends with, I know the history on this car for the past 7 years or more, the man was a pretty good business man that had several cars, he bought this one and like his others he sent this one to a restoration shop in south Alabama and had the car completely restored. But unlike his other car which was restored to trailer queens and AACA top honors car he built this one to his liking so that he could actually drive the car and enjoy. The car under went a full nut and bolt restoration starting about 4 or 5 years ago. The car was a solid car very small amount of rust in the car. Everything on the car was gone trough and put back either brand new or rebuilt. I will say that the motor and trans in the car is not the #'s matching setup for the car. When he bought the car he wasn't worried about matching numbers or anything he wanted a real SS that he could drive and play with. But the motor and trans have been professionally rebuilt and work amazing. When he had the car done he upgraded a few things, like march pulleys and a Griffin Radiator so that their wouldn't be any cooling issues, and a dual flow master exhaust system. The car does have a correct 12 bolt rear end. The interior of the car was all brand new when the car was restored. Factory Knee Knocker tach under the dash like the factory and also the correct SS gauges in the dash. The car does have buckets and the correct 4 speed center console. The trunk of the car is finished in splatter paint like the factory would have done and correct mat. The car looks amazing from the outside with the rally wheels. All the bumpers and trim  were put on new as well when the car was redone. Like I said the gentleman that built the car spared no expense when doing the car with everything just about new. The car runs out and drives great, no issues that I know of mechanically. This would make someone an amazing cruiser, one to take to shows and really enjoy. If your looking for a trailer queen this car is not it, this car was built to be driven and enjoyed, not saying that the car couldn't be detailed and things done to take it to the next level, but the car was built to be enjoyed. The car is for sale locally and is subject to be taken off. The car is also sold as is with no warranty. A 25% deposit is due within 3 days of the auctions end and the balance within 7 more when the car is to be picked up or arrangements are made for the car to be shipped. If you have any questions about the car please fill free to ask and I will try and answer them to the best of my ability. Thanks and God Bless Charlie 251-751-7530

Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues

Wed, 28 Dec 2011

'Tis the season... for road salt. And with that, comes rust. And what does rust bring? Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.

GM recalling 118K Colorado, Canyon pickups over missing hood latches

Thu, 20 Dec 2012

General Motors has announced a recall of 118,800 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickup trucks due to the possibility of secondary hood latches not being installed at the time of manufacture. The affected vehicles are from the 2010, 2011 and 2012 model years, all of which were built between November 9, 2009 and August 28, 2012.
According to the official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report, these trucks fail to "comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 113, 'Hood Latch System.' The hood may be missing the secondary hood latch." In other words, owners of these trucks could find their vehicles' hoods opening unexpectedly while driving.
The official recall campaign is expected to begin on January 17, 2013. Dealers will inspect the affected pickups and if a secondary hood latch is not present, one will be installed free of charge. Scroll down to read the official NHTSA report.

Chevrolet donates 300 vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Super Storm Sandy took out a lot of automobiles in its path of destruction through the Northeast last October. The number surpassed 250,000 at last count, and a few of those were owned by Chevrolet - cars either sitting on dealership lots or waiting at port to be shipped off. Rendered unsellable by the water damage inflicted by Sandy, these vehicles were facing the crusher. But Chevy didn't send them there.
Instead, Chevy had a better idea: It will be donating 300 of these vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders at Guardian Centers in Perry, GA. Chevy is the official automotive partner of Guardian Centers, which is an 830-acre facility that trains first responders in disaster preparedness. Junked cars are practically a consumable commodity there, where a full-size cityscape simulator gives trainees an entire urban center in which to train for all sorts of rescue operations and disaster scenarios.
Chevy says its particular vehicles will be used "in conjunction with role players for wide area searches, traffic congestion in emergency situations, counter terrorism, public order and mass casualty exercises." While grim scenarios all, we're certainly glad there are people out there preparing for the unexpected. While a zombie apocalypse isn't officially on the list of potential disasters to prepare for, when the virus hits, we'll be hot-footing it to Perry, GA to hang with these guys and gals.
