1967 Chevelle Ss 396 4 Speed on 2040-cars
Ocoee, Florida, United States
This is a 1967 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed car. Yes it's a real 138 car. I bought the car from the 2nd owner in Wisconsin. The second owner turned the car into a drag car back in the early 1970's by putting in mini tubs and a four link rearend. He raced it for a few years and then parked it in a garage. The odometer shows 65,000 miles which i believe to be the real mileage. I bought the car about 10 years ago and started building it. I found a 1970 L78 engine with matching heads, had it built and put in the car. It is a great engine. I put a tremec 5 speed behind it and 3:73 gears and have driven on 3 Hot Rod Power tours. After the 2014 Power Tour i took the car in to get painted and just picked the car up last week. Everything was pulled off the car to be repainted and i have included pictures. When we took the car down to bare metal the only area of rust was the back package tray area between the back window and trunk. we cut that out and welded in a new piece. Then we put the cortez silver on and added the vinyl top. It truly looks amazing. You see quite a few red, black or blue chevelles but not many in silver with a black vinyl top. Here are a list of items on the car:
Just painted Cortez Silver New Vinyl Top New Grill and Bezels Bumpers are Original New Coy Wheels 18x8 front 20x10 Rear Tremec 5 speed New Clutch Pressure PLate and Throw Out Bearing L78 Just built Disc Brakes in front Drum Rear All Lights and electronics work as they should 3 inch Flowmaster Exhaust This car has been on 3 Hot Rod Power Tours and runs and drives perfect. General Motors shaking up its marketing... again
Wed, 13 Mar 2013One of the things that dogs the full comeback of General Motors is the instability of its marketing. That part of the automaker got yet another big shakeup today when GM confirmed what I have been tweeting for a few days - strong rumors that the Chevrolet and Cadillac ad accounts are walking to new ad agencies.
Cadillac, GM's luxury brand, is going into review from Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis and the indications are that Campbell-Ewald, Chevy's old ad shop, will end up with most or all of it. C-E just announced that it was moving from its long-time home in Warren, MI to a new downtown Detroit office next to Ford Field, just blocks from GM.
The other shoe to drop shortly will be the shift of GM's most important brand, Chevy, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco to McCann-Erickson of Troy, MI. McCann used to be the agency for Buick and GMC, as well as GM's corporate advertising, and has retained some pieces of business over the last few years. Sources have even told us that it was McCann that did a lot of the creative work on Chevy's new ad platform, Find New Roads. (Not to be confused with a former McCann tagline for Saab, "Find Your Own Road.")
GM 6.2L V8 claims most powerful light-duty truck engine title
Thu, 12 Sep 2013General Motors has officially captured the horsepower crown for mainstream pickup trucks with its 6.2-liter V8. The big mill, available in both the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, comes to market with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, handily outdoing its two cross-town competitors, Ram (5.7-liter V8, 395 ponies and 407 lb-ft) and Ford (6.2-liter V8, 411 hp and 434 lb-ft).
The new GM 6.2 will take a bit of an investment, though. Those that want the extra thrust will need to go with either the LTZ or High Country trims from the Chevy, or the SLT and Denali trims from GMC, which are the two highest trim levels for the respective vehicles. Trim levels aside, if you're in the business of towing, GM has you covered. Optioned with the 6.2-liter V8 and the Max Trailering Package, owners will be able to pull 12,000 pounds, a hugely impressive figure.
We still aren't certain as to what sort of economy the new engine will get, but it'll probably be a bad bet for the fuel conscious. As for availability, expect to see the 6.2-liter trucks in showrooms later in the fall.
Are you the 2014 Corvette Grand Sport?
Thu, 21 Feb 2013When are stripes more than just stripes? Follow up question: Is the product development team at Chevrolet really cocky enough to hide the next C7 Corvette variant in plain sight? This very recently spotted, and ostensibly obscured C7 asks a lot more questions than it answers, but there's at least some evidence to support that it might be the next Corvette Grand Sport.
The first and most obvious tip-off that something is up with this 'Vette revolves around those silver stripes. Obviously the stripes themselves don't necessarily denote a new model. However, when Chevy recently launched its "colorizer" website for the Stingray, there was no provision made for racing stripes - solid colors only.
Grand Sport exhibit number two is actually an incriminating lack of badges. The production Corvettes we've seen to date have all carried Stingray badges on their fenders, just behind the vent. The car seen in these images has no such badges, which is an intriguing omission on an car that looks like a production-spec vehicle otherwise.
