Exterior in very good condition aside from minor wear and tear in paint (not original). Interior (original) also in very good condition except for a small tear in the bottom of the driver's seat."

For being 42 years old this car is in really nice shape inside and out.  It's ready to be your daily cruiser for sure.  I drive it all over town where ever I go.  With that being said, I have to unfortunately sell the car.  I bought it at a reasonable price and I'm selling it at a reasonable price as well.  The car originally came from Van Nuys, California and then up from Florida so always in a warm climate, which is good.

Now for the particulars.  The motor I replaced in the car was not the original motor.  Brand New GM Goodwrench 350ci/260HP Professionally built motor.  Brand New Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold.  Brand New Edelbrock Performer 600 cfm electric choke Carburetor.  Brand New JEGS Intake Gaskets and JEGS HEI Distributor & Coil.  Brand New ARP Intake Bolts.  Brand New GM Chrome Valve Covers,  GM Wing Nuts, and GM Dipstick.  New hoses and clamps throughout.  All installed less than a week ago.  I have all the documentation and warranty for the new motor.  Passed NY State inspection in July 2013.

The car has Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Factory AC, 12 Bolt Rear End, headers, and a 3 speed automatic transmission on the floor.  It also has Working Cowl Induction Hood with hood pins, Dual Exhaust with Stainless Steel Tips, Black Racing Stripes, and SS Badge trim.  All lights and gauges inside the car work as well.  There is a separate SunPro Tachometer and under the dash gauges for Oil Pressure, Battery Power, and Water Temperature.  It also has newer tires and rally wheels.

The exterior of the car is in very nice shape as you can see very clearly from the pictures.  Yes, there are a few spots here and there that show the usual wear and tear, but overall the paint (although not original) is doing very well.  It still has that shine!  The chrome is in great shape over the entire car.  The vinyl top is also in great shape as well.

Overall the interior is in very nice shape.  Again some areas of wear and tear but for the most part the black leather has held up very nicely.  The dash also looks great too as there are no cracks or real sign of wear.  Bucket seats in the front and the bench in the back.  There is a tear in the drivers seat where the bottom meets the back.  Simple fix but want to be up front.  The other front seat and backseat are in great shape. The floors, trunk, and under the hood are solid and look good.  Even has the spare tire, spare tire cover, and jack.

In closing this is a great car for anyone to own.  I'm disappointed I have to sell.  Don't miss out on owning and driving a true classic Muscle Car!

Buyer responsible for pickup and shipping of the car.  $500 deposit required within 48 hours of the auction closing.  Paypal is the easiest if you have that option. Remaining balance due within 7 days.  I think I've covered everything, but if you have any questions feel free to message me here.

I'll even throw in brand new Chevelle Floor Mats, some fuzzy dice, and a Chevy keychain for the lucky bidder.  Good luck!

GM won't pay owners of recalled cars for lost value

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

Kenneth Feinberg, the man in charge of the General Motors compensation fund dealing with the its widespread ignition switch woes, has issued an informal, two-letter response to the plaintiffs in more than 70 lawsuits seeking redress for lost resale value of their Cobalts: "No." The cases were recently combined into one, but Feinberg told The Detroit News that the fund will deal "only with death and physical injury claims," and that "perceived diminished value" will get no consideration.
ALG, the firm specializing in establishing residual values, determined that Cobalt owners had lost $300 compared to the segment competition and doesn't envision any long-term effects from the recall situation. Feinberg's statement comes in advance of public details on how the compensation fund will work and adheres to GM's long-held position on the matter. The company has already asked a judge to throw out such suits using the pre-bankruptcy defense, even as it stopped using that defense in cases of injury and death.
With plenty of potential gain from the GM suit, however, don't expect the plaintiffs to give up yet. When Toyota was sued for the same reason during the unintended acceleration debacle, it eventually settled the case for between $1 billion and $1.4 billion just to get it over with. Since the 85 law firms involved in the Toyota litigation took home more than $250 million of that total, we shouldn't expect the attorneys to give up on a GM payout, either.

Why the Corvette's Performance Data Recorder can be illegal in some states

Fri, 26 Sep 2014

The Performance Data Recorder with Valet Mode available on the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray seems like a fantastic tool for many owners. Whether they are taking 720p video while lapping the track in their new 'Vette, or just want to protect their purchase from inconsiderate joyriders, the system offers a lot of functionality in one package. However, one of the PDR's features might get buyers in trouble with the law, and it has nothing to do with recording some illicit high-speed driving on a favorite back road. The problem hinges on the various state laws concerning a person's right to privacy.
According to a letter posted by Jalopnik, Chevy dealers are asking 2015 Corvette owners not to use the Valet Mode portion of the PDR because it records audio in the cabin, in addition to performance specs. That's a problem because privacy laws vary from state to state with some requiring just one side's consent to tape sound and others requiring all parties to agree. According Jalopnik, 15 states mandate everyone's permission beforehand, but it's not clear whether these numbers are up to date. (Actually, the report varies, saying 13 states in some places and 15 in a list.)
According to the letter, Chevy is already working on a software update for the near future to rectify the issue. It's possible that simply adding a warning to drivers and the ability to turn off the audio recording function in Valet Mode might solve the problem. Obviously, this doesn't preclude Corvette drivers from using the performance aspect of the PDR, and owners are free tape lap after lap at the track.

Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.
