Lockport, Illinois, United States

Purchased from my dad back in 2008 and improvements made below (most done around that time period):

  • New paint (PPG with multiple clearcoats--still in good condition)
  • New front bumper (rear bumper is still in very good condition)
  • New chrome pieces (various)
  • New GM Performance Parts 350 Crate motor (Iron head with RPM performer intake and Holley 4 BBL)
    • 4 BBL shows some hesitation that I can't get worked out--will need to be tuned  (car runs rich)
    • K&N airbreather
    • Dual Electric Fans from an LS1 camaro
  • New professionally built 400TH Transmission
    • Reverse Manual Valve Body
    • B&M Ratchet Shifter
  • New Moto Gear 3.73 positrac Ring and Pinion
  • New front Baer Trac Pack Disc Brakes (2 piston)
  • New Brake booster and master cylinder
  • New shoes for the rear drums
  • New American Racing Custom ordered (for proper back spacing) 17X8.5 Wheels
    • P245/40ZR up front (passenger side is now P235 as I had to put a spare on it after a recent flat) BF Goodrich G-Sport
    • P275/40ZR in the rear (still plenty of tread)
  • New MOOG Steering components
  • New Spohn Performance Sway bars (front and rear)
  • New Pro-Comp upper and lower Tubular control Arms (condition note--driver side grease nipple has come off and the grease nipple will need to be replaced)
  • New CPP 2" Drop Spindles
  • New 2" Drop Detroit Speed Springs
  • All new Doetsch Nitrogen 3 way adjustable shocks
  • New Tubular lower trailing control arms
  • Newer interior (replaced prior to my purchase of the vehicle)--signs of ware on driver-side carpets

The vehicle has passed state inspections in Missouri and Texas (as recent as last year).  I now live in Illinois and they do not require inspections.

I believe the car is a beautiful driver but is not a show car.  I am not aware of any bondo in the car as my body man did not have to add any for the prep work of the paint job.  The driver side rear quarter fender well should probably be replaced as I had to do some cutting on it (not visible from outside the car) to get a previous set of wheels to keep from rubbing.  The new wheels are properly backspaced and will not rub with a new wheel well.

I believe this represents the car well.  I believe the price reflects the fact that this car is not a show-car but a driver with very nice components.  I would estimate that I have over $27,000.00 in the car including the purchase price of $14,000 from my dad.  The car handles and stops very well.  I had to send off for the title as I recently relocated to Illinois and I have not received it back yet but expect it soon.  I do have a lien against the car through my credit union.

Thank you for your interest.  I am not interested in trades.  I have found a Camaro that I am specifically trying to buy with the sell of this car.

Chevy to show redesigned Captiva in Geneva, will it come to US rental lots?

Wed, 27 Feb 2013

Unless you're renting a car or driving through Orlando, Florida (the rental car capital of the US), you'll probably never see a Chevrolet Captiva - the rebadged, fleet-only version of the old Saturn Vue - on our roads, but this crossover is popular in many other parts of the world. As such, Chevrolet announced that the Captiva will be getting an update for 2013, which will be unveiled next week at the Geneva Motor Show.
Coming off a pretty extensive refresh in 2011, the 2013 model year will bring even more changes to the Captiva like LED taillights, new 18-inch wheels and revised fascias with a new grille and fog lights up front and inset chrome exhaust outlets at the rear. New interior features include heated rear seats, dual-zone climate control as well as available options on some of the upper trim levels such as leather seating and keyless entry and start. We have yet to hear back from Chevrolet as to whether or not the updated Captiva will be making its way to a rental lot near you, as the model is only available in the US to fleet buyers.
Alongside the updated Captiva, Chevy is also showing off its new Trax in Europe, where the subcompact crossover will go on sale this spring. GM's press release for these two Geneva-bound models is posted below.

C7 Corvette turbo with 1,000 horsepower promised from Hennessey

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

If you can't wait for the next-generation Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Hennessey says they will have you covered. The Texas-based company has announced it will offer a spate of upgrades for the 2014 Corvette ranging from a range of bolt-on options all the way up to a 1,000-horsepower, twin-turbo system. Buyers can start with a cold air intake, cat-back exhaust or stainless steel long-tube headers, but Hennessey says it will also offer up three stages of forced induction mayhem should those bits and baubles not provide enough thrust.
Those choices start with a supercharger system good for up to 700 hp, though Hennessey will gladly ditch the blower in favor of two turbos. Doing so will spin the crank to the tune of 800 horsepower all the way up to a certifiably ludicrous 1,000 ponies. There's no word on how much these tricks will cost you - or when they will be available, as we're guessing they haven't gotten their hands on the car yet - but you can head over to the Hennessey site to drop them a line if you're curious.

GM applies for LT5, LTX trademarks... are new small block variants coming?

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Recently discovered General Motors trademark applications for LT4, LT5, LT88 and LTX have observers wondering what kind of high-performance offerings could be on their way. A new LT4 would mark a return of the engine designation first used on the Corvette Grand Sport, SLP Pontiac Firehawk and SLP Chevrolet Camaro SS from 1996 and 1997. Supposition at Corvette Forum - which provided advance intel on the C7 like these leaked images - believes a new LT4 could go into the high-performance trim of the next-gen, 2015 Camaro that would be more powerful than the 580-horsepower Camaro ZL1.
Seeing an LT5 again would also be déjà vu - in its former life it was a 5.7-liter V8 for the C4 Corvette ZR-1 from 1990-1994 designed by Lotus, producing from 370 hp to 405 hp. A mix of rumor and hope is that the new LT5 will be a supercharged evolution of the 6.2-liter LT1 (pictured) placed in the new C7 Corvette, and that it will go into the C7 version of the ZR1 pumping out something like 700 hp.
The LTX trademark is, as with that last letter, a complete mystery. If the "X" isn't a generic way to denote the whole LT family, it's wondered if it LTX could refer to a crate motor offering like the LSX.
