1963 Corvair Monza 900 2 Door Coupe California Car Its Whole Life!! on 2040-cars
Onsted, Michigan, United States
This car is a 1963 Corvair Monza 900 2 door coupe. This Corvair was built in Oaklnad, California assembly plant and remained in Californis it's whole life until I found it a month ago. Amazing car. The car has the original engine, original transmission in it. Currently, the car does not run. but it rolls around, steers and the brakes work...... I do not know all of the reasons the car does not run, other than it is missing the carbs, intake stuff, but i have 1 of the carbs and intake stuff included in all the parts. I have a huge array of parts for this car which are included in the auction. See pictures. The car was last plated in 1982. Included is the original licanse plate for this car from 1963 the day it was titled!!!!!!!!! Amazing find. I have the original Manufacturers warranty book for the car with the original owners name still handwritten in it. I also am iincluding 2 other Clarks Manuals in this auction as well. What a piece of history. I think what makes this car such a good restoration candidate is that the body and floor panels and underneath the car, are all so solid with no rust. I had a dealer look at the car and he was blown away. He slammed the doors and the car sounded like a new car. I want you to examine these pictures please. Everything you see is included. There is a ton of oem parts and they all are included in this auction. 27432 original miles on the car. This would make a great restoration candidate for sure. I hope you like it. Please take a moment to look ar my other items for sale. I think you will find them very interesting. VIN 309270120357 MY TERMS: $500 NON-REFUNDABLE EARNEST DEPOSIT IS DUE WHEN YOU WIN THE AUCTION! Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]
Tue, 05 Feb 2013Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. You can check out the full press release below. You can also read the full study on the Consumer Reports site, or scroll down for a short video recap.
Chevy Camaro is a good sport, wishes Ford Mustang Happy 50th
Tue, 15 Apr 2014It was 1966 when Chevrolet launched its challenger to the wildly successful Ford Mustang, the Camaro. While the competition between the two brands was already healthy, the arrival of the Camaro set off one of the most intense, model-to-model rivalries in the industry.
That competitive spirit hasn't stopped Chevy and the Camaro from wishing Ford's iconic muscle car a Happy 50th Birthday as the Ford's April 17 anniversary rolls around. These two cars have been linked over the years, and while the rivalry took a break for a few years in the 2000s, today's competition between the Camaro and Mustang is as fierce as it's ever been.
You might recall that this friendliness when it comes to major milestones isn't too rare. Ford put on quite a display for General Motors' hundredth anniversary back in 2008. As the Camaro's fiftieth birthday approaches in 2016, we wouldn't be surprised to see the Mustang sending its best wishes to its Bowtie rival.
Kurt Busch to shake and bake (again) in Ricky Bobby car at Talladega
Sat, 19 Oct 2013Kurt Busch will channel Ricky Bobby for another NASCAR race, this time driving a Wonder-sponsored Chevrolet SS, in this weekend's Camping World RV Sales 500 at the Talladega Motor Speedway. Unlike past tie-ins, though, there's actually an element of sponsorship here (the "Me" car was done when Busch was running on a team without sponsorship).
It was arranged by Flower Foods, the new owner of the Wonder brand. Wonder was part of the bankrupt Hostess company, which temporarily exited the US market 2012, and set off the Great Twinkie Shortage.
Busch has made something of a habit of channeling characters from famous racing movies, most recently running Tom Cruise's City Chevrolet livery from Days of Thunder in a Nationwide Series race earlier this year. Busch kicked off his movie-inspired antics, though, at Talladega in 2012, when he raced El Diablo's ("It's like... Spanish for like a fighting chicken") "Me" car complete with a cougar on the hood. He even went so far as to channel the lovable idiot that is Ricky Bobby during the race, dropping a few catchphrases about macchiatos and slingshots.
