CORVAIR SPENT MOST OF IT'S ENTIRE LIFE IN WARM, DRY, SUNNY OKLAHOMA (AND IT SHOWS), THEN TO NEW MEXICO IN 2011. THE ENTIRE BODY, FLOORS, AND
UNDERCARRIAGE ARE LIKE NEW--AMAZING!!
THE ENGINE WAS REBUILT BY A CORVAIR SPECIALIST IN OKLAHOMA, AND HAS VERY LITTLE MILEAGE ON IT--RUNS GREAT. THE BRAKE PEDAL IS HIGH AND FIRM. IT APPEARS TO EVEN HAVE THE ORIGINAL DELCO DRUMS ON IT. THE TIRES ARE NEW RADIALS. BATTERY IS FAIRLY NEW. FRONT SEATS HAVE BEEN UPGRADED TO HIGH BACK POWER LEATHER BUCKETS. PAINT IS DRIVER QUALITY DUE TO SUN FADE ON TOP OF HOOD, ROOF, AND TRUNK. BODY IS ALL ORIGINAL AND VERY STRAIGHT. NO EVIDENCE OF ANY PRIOR BODY WORK OTHER THAN ONE REPAINT. IF YOU INVEST IN A GOOD QUALITY PAINT JOB YOU CAN HAVE A SHOW CAR. GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes
Mon, 01 Oct 2012The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.

Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war
Sun, 30 Dec 2012A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?

Well, Pratt & Miller has developed a new rear-facing radar that operates in a similar fashion to what we're used to in modern blind spot detection systems, only it is also capable of tracking cars as they approach and relaying vital information to the driver via a large display screen.
The innovative radar system debuted at last weekend's 12 Hours of Sebring for Corvette Racing, and this system makes perfect sense for endurance races like this since the cars sometimes have to drive through the night and in poor weather conditions.
The radar can detect cars even with poor visibility, and uses easy-to-distinguish symbols for the driver to identify.
