For Sale, my 1964 Monza Spyder Turbo Convertible.
The last year of the original body style Corvairs. There were only 4,761 of the 64 Spyder Convertibles ever built originally, estimated to be less then 1500 still existing.
Everywhere I have driven it, it always gets looks, waves, and compliments!
150 H.P. Turbocharged Air-Cooled flat 6 cylinder engine. Strong runner, I've had the car to over 70 on the interstate with no problems whatsoever.
Car has had a recent total restoration, including all new interior from Clark's Corvair, new paint in G.M. Yellow Gold, new P185-80R 13" B.F.Goodrich wide whitewall tires (less then 1000 miles on tires).
Optional right outside mirror, and the center floor console from Clark's included as well.
Custom trim striping on rocker panels, the original wire wheel style hubcaps, and hard to find original headlight gravel guards.
All lights work, headlights, turn signals, brake lights, reverse lights, dash lights. New high volume dual horns installed.
Radio installed, but not hooked up, and no speaker in the dash.
Parking Brake not operating, might need new cable.
Manual Convertible top in great shape, works easily.
Great driver, the 64s had the rear suspension upgrade which greatly improved the handling. I drive it around on the mountain roads in my area and it handles as well as any modern car!
The car has the original Owner's manual, Convertible Top manual, warranty book, and advertising materials from 1964.
Also included is a set of original G.M. Shop manuals, including the 64 updates, plus the G.M. Assembly Manual for the Corvair.
Also, a complete set of the latest issue catalogs from Clark's Corvair parts.
Also included are a spare clutch cable, 2 fan belts, and other spare parts.
The car starts easily, drives great, no smoke from exhaust.
It does use a little oil, perhaps some minor leaks, not uncommon for a 50 year old Corvair.

Amelia Island 2013: Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray from concepts to split windows

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

While this year marks 60 years of the Chevrolet Corvette, the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance focused on one of the coupe's most sought after models, the 1963 Sting Ray. General Motors design boss Ed Welburn was on hand to show off the all-new C7 Corvette, but even the hard-edged styling of the 2014 Stingray couldn't take away from the beautiful 1963 models sitting out on the field.
In addition to the original Sting Ray and the 1959 Sting Ray Concept, some of the other classic 'Vettes included "Big Tank" racecars, an interesting cutaway coupe, a right-hand-drive Z06 and the attention-grabbing 1963 Corvette Rondine by Pininfarina. Another impressive Corvette was the 1964 Corvette XP-819 rear-engine prototype. Owner Mike Yager had the car finished as a driving chassis for this year's show, but promises the car will be back to its original glory in time for next year's event.

2014 Chevrolet Malibu gets more torque, more room and inspiration from the Impala

Fri, 31 May 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, having stared at the Impala across the showroom floor for a year, gets nips and tucks all over inspired by its larger brother. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder in the base car will get a stop-start system and 23 city miles per gallon, 35 highway, each number representing a one-mpg improvement over the 2013 car. Output is 196 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque.
Opt for the 2.0-liter turbo and, while power holds steady at 259 hp, torque goes up by 14 percent to a striking 295 lb-ft (a figure Chevy calls best in the class). The final details include newly programmed transmission shift points and faster shifts, for better engaging and enjoying the added power.
Looks-wise, the grille's been reshaped to be more in line with the new Chevrolet look, a narrower upper grille hovering over a larger lower grille.
