THIS LITTLE CORVAIR IS A GOOD CAR TO RESTORE OR WITH A LITTLE BIT OF WORK YOU CAN DRIVE IT THE WAY IT IS. THE ENGINE RUNS STRONG (IT HAD A COMPLETE REBUILD 12 YEARS AGO, BUT ONLY A FEW THOUSAND MILES AGO) I HAVE ALL THE RECEIPTS AND PICTURES. THE TRANS SHIFTS LIKE IT SHOULD. I REPLACED ALL THE WHEEL CYLINDERS, THE FRONT BRAKE HOSES AND THE FRONT BRAKE LINES. I DID NOT CHANGE THE SHOES, BUT THEY SHOULD BE REPLACED. I ALSO PUT IN A NEW BATTERY AND DID A COMPLETE TUNE UP. THE POWER TOP WORKS, THE GAUGES WORK, ALL THE IDIOT LIGHTS WORK AND THE RADIO TURNS ON. THE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT WORK, THEY NEED A DIMMER SWITCH. ALL THE ORIGINAL PARTS ARE THERE. THE JACK, LUG WRENCH, SPARE TIRE AND LOCK, HUB CAPS, ETC. THE LAST TIME THIS CAR WAS ON THE ROAD WAS 2002. ALL THE GLASS IS GOOD, ALL WINDOWS GO UP AND DOWN. TO GET IT READY FOR THE ROAD YOU WOULD NEED TO REPLACE ALL TIRES (THE THREAD IS LIKE NEW, BUT THEY ARE 14 YEARS OLD), REPLACE THE BRAKE SHOES (THE CAR PULLS TO THE LEFT), AND I WOULD REBUILD THE CARBS (THEY ARE A LITTLE CRANKY WHEN THE CAR IS COLD). THAT WOULD GET YOU ON THE ROAD. THIS IS WHAT THE CORVAIR NEEDS TO MAKE IT BETTER. THE R/F FRONT FLOOR IS WEAK, THE L/F FLOOR IS HALF GONE. NEW CARPETS, DRIVERS SEAT COVER AND FOAM, THE REAR SEAT FOAM.IT NEEDS A NEW TOP, WEATHER STRIPPING AND WINDOW WHISKERS. YOU GET THE IDEA. THE FRAME HAS SOME SPOTS OF ROT AND SO DOES THE BODY, NOTHING DANGEROUS. IT WILL NOT AFFECT THE SAFETY OF THE CAR. SO THATS ABOUT IT. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE ASK BEFORE YOU BID. THANK YOU.

Watch NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon put one over on a used car dealer... sorta

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Full Disclosure: in my younger days, I loved nothing more than tormenting passengers with my behind-the-wheel hijinks. Once, after a particularly artful handbrake turn on a two-lane at around 50 miles per hour, I left one backseat occupant crying in their own lap. This isn't necessarily something to be proud of, but it gives you a glimpse into why it is that I find this ad from Pepsi so damn disappointing. The premise is beautiful. Take NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, give him a disguise and set him loose upon some unsuspecting used car dealer. Hilarity ensues.
Except that this Pepsi Max commercial is so obviously staged, it can't help but feel like some ham-fisted marketing fail. From the strategically placed aftermarket cupholder mounted mid-dash for the hidden camera to the fact that the supposed dealer Camaro is displayed as a 2009 model (Hint: Chevrolet didn't make any), this clip is about as organic as a Twinkie. Still, we would never turn down a chance to watch Gordon thrash on a rental-spec coupe - only problem is, he probably didn't even do the driving himself. Check it out below.

Final C6 Corvette built in Bowling Green

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

With all of the attention given to the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray lately, you could be forgiven for thinking that it's already well along in production, yet tooling up for the new C7 has only just begun. In fact, production of the outgoing C6 generation in Bowling Green, Kentucky just halted on Thursday.
As the C6 has aged, production numbers have predictably ebbed along with demand, but this year, the addition of the 427 and 60th anniversary models resulted in an uptick in vehicles built - this, despite a model year shortened by around 25 percent to accomodate the new model changeover. The final C6 Corvette ever, No. 13,466 built this year, was a white 427 Convertible destined for the General Motors Heritage Center museum. The car's 7.0-liter V8 heart was assembled by Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter himself.
In total, Bowling Green pushed out 215,100 C6 Corvettes over nine years. If you're still a C6 fan at heart and are hoping to get a good deal on a phase-out model, step lively - Chevrolet reportedly had about 6,100 unsold units, which Autoweek suggests is good for around five and a half months of supply at the model's current sales rates. Given that demand will likely slacken even further as the C7 draws closer, that should be a big enough stockpile to keep dealers satisfied until 2014 Stingrays begin showing up on their forecourts in December.

Chevy SS prototype spotted wearing Pontiac G8 clothes

Tue, 28 Aug 2012

Do not adjust your computer screen, you are not seeing the rebirth of the Pontiac brand. General Motors has chosen to use a G8 to disguise a test mule for the latest prototype of the forthcoming Chevrolet SS. The G8 was closely related to the Holden Commodore and Vauxhall VXR, the platform upon which the new Chevrolet performance model will be based. It should come as little surprise, then, that GM has opted to use the cladding from the former G8.
Thought the front clip of this mule is pure Pontiac, note the vents immediately behind the front wheel. That is a distinctive design hallmark of the Vauxhall VXR. Also note that this vehicle is right-hand drive, as the Holden and its Chevy counterpart will be very closely related. That likely includes potential drivetrains. The spy photos of this mule also reveal very wide rear tires, and rear wheels that do not match the fronts.
