1965 Corvette Convertible ( 396 Clone ) with 4 speed transmission. UU Code Rally Red paint, Black interior and White soft top. This is a very restorable just don't have the time to go through it. The motor has less than a 1,000 miles with date correct 396 Block, Rectagular Port Heads and Aluminum Intake. I spent over 20K converting this from a non matching numbers 327 to a 396 producing over 425HP. Options include Original AM/FM Radio, Telescopic Steering Column, After Market Knockoff Wheel, Correct Tires, Power Steering and Hardtop.

I have owned the car since 1982 and believe this is the original paint. It may have had one repaint but not sure. The car needs to be repainted. The entire drive train is in great shape.

I have added a few new pictures based on some recent questions concerning the frame and number of paint jobs. The frame is in good shape for being 48 years old but could use some attention on the driver side frame rail in front of the rear tire. The rest of the frame is in great shape.  I lightly DA the car with 150 grit to show that there has been two repaints since original, not bad considering the age of the car sorry for any confusion.

Trying to answere all the question I'm getting I have included a picture of the passenger side engine block and a spare block I have that is not included in this auction but will be available to the purchaser for an additional cost. These blocks are so rear and getting more expensive each day.It always makes sense to have a spare block for this type of car.

I have listed some of the major costs in the past couple of years to convert to a 396. It cost me in parts alone about 20K

Bare Block # 3855962 = $3,000

Bare Heads # 3856208 = $3,500

Stock Intake #386693 = $400

Big Block Hood = $1,100

Rotating Assembly = $1,500

Stock Crank = $300

Machine Shop Labor & Parts =$4,000

Big Block Core Support = $450

Big Block Fan Shroud = $335

Big Block Radiator = $600

Clutch Assembly & Linkage = $325

Big Block Bell Housing = $300

Water Pump / Alternator Brackets & Pulleys= $500

New White Top = $400

Power Steering Pump & Brackets = $375

Air Cleaner / Valve Covers = $225

Major parts total $17,310 and this is only about 80% of the cost not including labor

Hi

I can't believe the number of questions I have been getting and want to make sure there are no surprises for the bidders. When I purchased this car back in 1983 the insurance company ( as they do with Corvettes back in the 80's) wanted to inspect the car. and what they found was a VIN TAG they thought had been tampered with and required me to put Massachusetts VIN #'s on the car. The original VIN #  194675S119235 does match the numbers on the frame and at the time I didn't feel like fighting with the registry over the numbers. I have added pictures of the CORVETTE VIN TAG / CORVETTE DATA TAG & The Massachusetts VIN #. It can be changed back and there are companies that do that for you it just never was a big deal for me.

Chevrolet donates 300 vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Super Storm Sandy took out a lot of automobiles in its path of destruction through the Northeast last October. The number surpassed 250,000 at last count, and a few of those were owned by Chevrolet - cars either sitting on dealership lots or waiting at port to be shipped off. Rendered unsellable by the water damage inflicted by Sandy, these vehicles were facing the crusher. But Chevy didn't send them there.
Instead, Chevy had a better idea: It will be donating 300 of these vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders at Guardian Centers in Perry, GA. Chevy is the official automotive partner of Guardian Centers, which is an 830-acre facility that trains first responders in disaster preparedness. Junked cars are practically a consumable commodity there, where a full-size cityscape simulator gives trainees an entire urban center in which to train for all sorts of rescue operations and disaster scenarios.
Chevy says its particular vehicles will be used "in conjunction with role players for wide area searches, traffic congestion in emergency situations, counter terrorism, public order and mass casualty exercises." While grim scenarios all, we're certainly glad there are people out there preparing for the unexpected. While a zombie apocalypse isn't officially on the list of potential disasters to prepare for, when the virus hits, we'll be hot-footing it to Perry, GA to hang with these guys and gals.

Chevrolet Camaros at SEMA are a mobile accessory catalog

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

Chevy's goal at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas this week seems to be to show as much of its Performance and Accessories catalog as possible. That's why it brought three different Camaros - two with V8s and one powered by a V6 - with all of the best goodies from the catalog already fitted.
We gave a more in-depth recap of the Performance Camaro V8 Concept, the Performance Camaro V6 Concept and the Performance Garage Concept already, but we figured you'd like a short recap for each. It should be noted, though, that you can order all of the items you see here for your own Camaro, so be sure to take a long, hard look at our live galleries, just in case you're in the market for some mods.
Essentially, the Performance Garage Concept and the Performance V8 Concept are the same car - the only difference is that the later features a whole host of aesthetic tweaks in addition to its aftermarket, shorty exhaust headers and 2.75-inch exhaust. (The Performance Garage Concept has been usefully placed on its side; the better to see the new parts added to the vehicle.) The Performance V6 Concept is notable because, despite being a V6, there's no shortage of performance goodies fitted. All three of the Performance Camaros benefit from items from the Camaro ZL1, which can also be ordered through the catalog.

First privately owned Corvette Stingray blitzes 1/4 mile in 12.23 at 114.88 mph

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

Chevrolet's latest road rocket, the Corvette Stingray, is a very quick car. If one needs further proof of that, we recommend they take a look at this video from Hennessey of what is claimed to be the first privately owned C7 Corvette to make a pass down the quarter mile. Not just any quarter mile, mind, this black C7 blitzed its way down the tuner's primary testing dragstrip. The Chevrolet ran the quarter in just 12.23 seconds at 114.88 miles per hour. That is a very quick time for a stock car.
Equipped with the Z51 package and a six-speed automatic transmission, not only does the C7 run a solid time, but it does so with little to no drama. That won't last though, as Hennessey will likely return it to its owner with far more power - we just hope they show a drag run of the completed product. Take a look below to watch the C7's 12.23-second run on video.
