Up for sale is my 1968 Corvette Coupe with T-tops.  Car is beautiful, sounds like its about to take flight on the drag strip, and runs like a scalded dog.  Has the 327/350 option with a 4-speed.  I bought this from a friend who needed money to build his house. I realized after I bought it that I have 9 other vehicles, and it has rained every day except 4 since I moved to Florida over Memorial Day weekend. So, I realized I haven't ridden either of my Harley's since I moved, not once!  This car, and my 65 Mustang, have mostly been moved from my garage to my shop so I could drywall the garage then back into the garage.  I bought this car in Dec 2012, and when I looked on the title and the odometer today, I realized it had 81,674 miles on it when I bought it, and today it reads 81,686 which means I've driven it a total of 12 miles since I bought it, and that was to go to the DMV, and once this weekend when it was test-driven locally by a guy who wanted to trade me a Cabin Cruiser for it. I have a wave runner and a boat that I just bought last week, so had I known that before he test-drove it, I wouldn't have wasted that trip!

As for the condition, the pics pretty much speak for themselves. I have the factory luggage rack and factory steering wheel the guy gave me. I have the factory shop manuals somewhere too. Car starts, runs, rides beautifully, sounds like a serious hot rod with the custom exhaust, and has what looks to be relatively new wheels/tires. The only issues I found with the car were the seat belts were for crap, so I have new, generic ones in the packages to go with the car. I also noticed, on the only day I parked it outside, that the T-Top weatherstrips leak, so I just purchased a complete new weatherstrip kit for almost $500 from Mid-America Corvettes, and the kit is still in the box, and will be included. I don't know of other issues with the car, understanding that I've only driven it 12 miles.  I encourage local inspection, and feel free to bring your mechanic with you!  Car is sold as is, where is, with no warranty, but again, I encourage local inspection, and I'll be happy to take you for a ride.

I looked up the NADA on the car. Today, it lists the low retail at $21K, the average retail in the $40's, and the high retail in the $50's.  I live near Pensacola, Florida, and here the insurance company and the DMV have to inspect the car, and the insurance company has pictures taken and filed so I could recoup my losses if anything happened, and so I could put Antique plates on it. After doing so, the Insurance Company did comps in the local Region, and it's currently insured for $33,500.  I've started the bid where I feel like someone can get a good deal on a really nice Vette.  I could probably hold out for big bucks, but the car is not doing anything for me except sitting in the garage collecting dust, while I pay increased insurance rates because of the insured value. So, if you want it, bid to own it. I have set my starting bid, and if it ends up a penny over, so be it. The car needs an owner.

Now for the necessary stuff:  NO outside the lower 48 bids, sales or shipping. Car has been described to the best of my ability and knowledge. Inspection encouraged and invited. I will entertain offers of trades, but I don't want ANY projects, no matter how little you think needs to be done. If you want to trade anything, you have to have a clear title, and be able to bring your prospective trade to my house, no exceptions. Cash is the only form of payment I'll accept, I don't care what your wife says. NO money orders, NO checks, NO google payments, and NO paypal beyond the deposit. And last but not least, check my feedback from over 10 years on ebay. I'm honest, and will deal with you straight up. I have heard and had guys try ALL the scams and silliness on me, so please don't waste your time. I'm not letting you send me a wire transfer, and have your brother/shipper/cousin or anybody else transact any business for you.  Cash, in person, is the only way this works, period. I require a $500 non-refundable deposit within 24 hrs of auction end, and balance upon pickup within 7 days. Car is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction until the first bid is entered. Once that happens, it will run til sold. If your feedback is less than 5, or you have negatives for non-payment, I reserve the right to cancel your bid.  Thanks for looking, and don't be afraid to send me reasonable offers.

2014 Chevy Silverado priced from *$24,585, V8 gets better economy than Ford EcoBoost V6

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

Chevrolet has thrown down the next hand in the pickup truck poker wars and revealed at least a couple of potential aces - depending on which numbers matter most to you. The 2014 2014 Silverado 1500 with its 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 gets 335 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, is mated to a six-speed automatic, can tow 11,500 pounds with the optional Max Trailer Package and costs the same as the outgoing Silverado, $24,585 (*including $995 destination fee). Chevy says the Silverado also stands atop the fuel economy charts when comparing any competitor with a V8 engine - and some competitors with V6 engines. The two-wheel drive model returns 16 miles per gallon city, 23 mpg highway, 19 mpg combined in two-wheel drive guise and 16 mpg city, 22 mpg highway and 18 mpg combined as a four-wheel drive.
For context around those numbers, the most fuel efficient V8-powered 2013 Ford F-150 pickups lose about two mpg in every metric compared to the Silverado, the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost returning 16 city, 18 highway and 22 combined in two-wheel drive. However, that EcoBoost does have 365 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. You can get a Ram 1500 with a 3.6-liter V6 that gets 25 mpg highway, but it has 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. The 2013 Ram with the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and its 395 hp and 407 lb-ft drops one mpg in every category to the Silverado. Its tow rating is 200 pounds beyond its nearest competitor, the F-150 with the Max Trailer Tow Package.
Elsewhere, the new Silverado gets a quieter cab with a redesigned interior, a new bed with improved load-management possibilities, disc brakes all around, tweaked steering and suspension, along with free standard scheduled maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles.

Mother's Day Suggestion No. 2,506

Thu, 02 May 2013

With Mother's Day coming up, we're always looking for new gift ideas to celebrate the occasion, but hot laps around a track might not be the best suggestion for Darius Khashabi. In a video posted on YouTube, Khashabi straps his mom into the passenger seat of his C6 Corvette Z06 for some laps around Sonoma Raceway (formerly Infineon Raceway) at "60 percent" with comical results.
Now this isn't the first time Mama Khashabi has gotten seat time in her son's car around a track, as his YouTube page shows him pulling a similar stunt - with similar results - around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca last year. Scroll down for the video, but know that the action really gets going at around the 1:40 mark.

Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.
