1972 Corvette, Original Owner, Garage Kept, Original Paint, Matching Numbers on 2040-cars
Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, United States
1972 CORVETTE STINGRAY, Warbonnet Yellow (gold) with tan leather interior. PS, PB, PW, & A/C. T-TOPS, 350 V8, Auto Trans. Goodyear GT Radial tires. Original paint. My family has owned the vehicle since it was ordered and taken delivery of 9/71. It was my sister's car and she became ill and couldn't drive. The car was never driven in winter. She gave the car to me, but I just don't have time to drive it. The car has been stored in my garage for the last two and a half years and hasn't been driven. The car was on blocks and stored with an empty fuel tank. I put a new battery in it and two gallons of gas and it fired up. I pulled the car from the garage and hit the brakes hard and the pedal went to the ground. So it runs but doesn't stop. Might of just broke a brake line it seems to be leaking brake fluid in the middle of the rear of the car. Not a mechanic, so don't hold me to that. The car will probably need to be towed or trailered when purchased. All the fluids were full except for the rear of the master cylinder. When I started the car it smoked a little, but I think it was because it was only 36 degrees outside. I think the car could be a good driver or a gem if restored. Of course the car is 42 years old and is sold as is. The photos are of the actual car listed. PLEASE ask questions! Original owners manual, vehicle plate, and other supporting documents included with sale.

Alarm with key switch on rear of car. Original lugs come with the car (in rear storage area). Original factory order sheet in my dad's name. Two vinyl cases for the T-Tops are also included. There was Ziebart rust proofing done years ago. Yes it could probably use a tune-up and probably fluid changed etc. I couldn't drive it because there are no brakes, just pulled it out of the garage. On Nov-10-13 at 09:39:37 PST, seller added the following information: Yes I do have it listed locally and have had several people look at it. If I get a good offer I will end the auction early. |

Chevrolet donates 300 vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Super Storm Sandy took out a lot of automobiles in its path of destruction through the Northeast last October. The number surpassed 250,000 at last count, and a few of those were owned by Chevrolet - cars either sitting on dealership lots or waiting at port to be shipped off. Rendered unsellable by the water damage inflicted by Sandy, these vehicles were facing the crusher. But Chevy didn't send them there.
Instead, Chevy had a better idea: It will be donating 300 of these vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders at Guardian Centers in Perry, GA. Chevy is the official automotive partner of Guardian Centers, which is an 830-acre facility that trains first responders in disaster preparedness. Junked cars are practically a consumable commodity there, where a full-size cityscape simulator gives trainees an entire urban center in which to train for all sorts of rescue operations and disaster scenarios.
Chevy says its particular vehicles will be used "in conjunction with role players for wide area searches, traffic congestion in emergency situations, counter terrorism, public order and mass casualty exercises." While grim scenarios all, we're certainly glad there are people out there preparing for the unexpected. While a zombie apocalypse isn't officially on the list of potential disasters to prepare for, when the virus hits, we'll be hot-footing it to Perry, GA to hang with these guys and gals.
Corvette Stingray Convertible images mysteriously appear on web, so we add our own
Tue, 22 Jan 2013It was inevitable that we'd see the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray topless at some point, but that didn't make us any less interested when a pair of supposedly leaked official images showed up on theautoinsiderblog.com last week. We posted them on our Facebook page, but held off reporting on them here until we could get a little more information.
Those images, which feature a dark red car on a sterile black studio background, supposedly first appeared on the website of diecast model maker Maisto. A Chevrolet spokesman has been reported saying that they are "not official images released by Chevrolet PR," which isn't a denial they're the real deal, but neither is it a confirmation.
Close examination of the photos suggest they could be official shots of the Corvette Stingray Convertible, and while some have doubted their authenticity due to a lack of vents (which were seen on the C7s that debuted in Detroit last week), it could be that the images are of a base model car without the Z51 package that doesn't require the extra venting and cooling.
Camaro spy shots show subtly different grille, front fascia
Sun, 03 Feb 2013It looks like there some changes in store for the Chevrolet Camaro - the only thing is that we just don't know what Chevy has up its sleeve. Looking at these spy shots, we'd initially be inclined to think that there is just a minor facelift or a new special edition, but upon closer inspection, there are a few oddities about this car that definitely have us intrigued.
The most obvious difference on this prototype is the slightly restyled front fascia with a smaller lower air inlet and the two-bar grille. Then we get to some of the car's mysterious details. For starters, this fascia has the SS vent above the grille, but it looks to be blocked off. Granted this could just be a one-off piece used for testing. What really piqued our interest was at the rear of the car where it has quad exhaust outlets that are used on the ZL1. Could this be the LS7-powered Camaro that we reported on back in December?
At this point, your guess is as good as ours as to what we're looking at here, so let us know in the comments what you think this could be.
