1985 Corvette 4+3.  350 v8 tune port fuel injection, the transmission is the Doug Nash "4+3" transmission - a 4-speed manual coupled to an automatic overdrive on the top three gears.   The car has 114K miles on it.  It is not a daily driver.  I've put less than 1,000 miles on the car since January.  I drive an hour one way to work, so I do not drive the car except when I am on my days off.  The car is in very good condition and has been taken care of (even babied).  New tires all around and not the '85 factory wheels (they have been upgraded).  The car has the moon roof in it that can be taken out and stored in the hatch.  Upgraded sound system to a CD player, installed door speakers and rear speakers being pushed with a 600 watt amp.  2 - 12" subs in the hatch being pushed by a 1,000 watt amp and routed through a passive EQ for excellent sound.  The latest maintenance completed on the car was a new timing chain, water pump, harmonic balancer, motor mounts & drive (serpentine) belt.  Things I think the car will need soon: brakes to be bled (to strengthen the pedal), new window tint on both doors, hydraulic arms for the rear hatch & air conditioner will need to be charged.  Other than that, the car is solid and like I said, well taken care of.  It has been driven respectfully (because I do not want to tear the car up).  The reason I am wanting to sell is because I have a camper.  I am looking for a truck to pull the camper with.  I am married with six children and the 'vette only seats 2.  :-)    My family time is more important right now than "cruising" time so I am going to sell or trade for a truck.  I figured I would start here first and see what happens.  If there are ANY questions at all, please ask.  I will do my best to answer everything!  Thanks for looking and bidding.  I am also interested in trading if there's a truck out there that someone wants to get rid of that peaks my interest!

Steve McQueen's last movie car, now Pawn Stars-owned, up for auction [w/video]

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

The last car Steve McQueen ever drove in a movie is officially up for auction. The 1951 Chevrolet Styline DeLuxe Convertible you see above is now owned by none other than Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars fame, but once ferried McQueen around the set of his last film, 1980's The Hunter. That flick saw the Bullit star play a bumbling bounty hunter and didn't exactly set the box office on fire. McQueen bought the car after production wrapped, and four years later it sold at his estate sale at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas.
Flash forward to 2003, and the convertible received a full restoration back to near-stock specifications. Hagerty Insurance estimates the car to be worth around $45,000 without the significant providence. Given its ties to one of film's most popular gearheads, the old Chevrolet could fetch up to 10 times that when it goes under the gavel in Ft Luaderdale, Florida on March 22. You can head over to the Auctions America site for more information. You can also check out the trailer for The Hunter below.

GM investing $167m in Spring Hill for new midsize vehicles

Tue, 06 Aug 2013

General Motors has announced a large investment in its Spring Hill, Tennessee facility. The former home of Saturn production will be getting a $167 million addition to a previously announced $183 million, to cover a pair of new midsize vehicles. The investment is expected to create 1,800 jobs at the factory.
That $350 million is being divvied up for a pair of programs at Spring Hill. The first will take the bulk of the money ($223 million) and create 1,000 of the 1,800 jobs, while the other will take the remaining $127 million and generate the leftover 800 positions. But GM says the investment will cover "midsize vehicle programs." So what could they be?
The leading candidate in our minds is a new crossover for Buick, called the Anthem, that will slot between the Encore and Enclave, but will be slightly smaller than the Equinox and Terrain. As we've explained, the new model will likely be the first product to sport GM's new D2UX platform, which will eventually replace both the Delta and Theta platforms. Spring Hill is already building the Equinox, so there could be some credence to this theory.

GM tinkering with Silverado, Sierra model mix amidst strong early sales

Mon, 04 Nov 2013

Variety, as they say, is the spice of life. That's a lesson that is currently being taught to General Motors, because despite a strong showing from its 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, the General's pickup sales still can't best those of cross-town rival Ford.
With 59,163 trucks moved, GM fell just over 1,000 units short of toppling Ford, and one of the main reasons for that, according to GM's chief sales analyst, was due to a lack of variety in the engines and body styles available on dealer lots. "We are still over-weighted toward crew-cab V8 trucks. Our light-duty mix will moderate over time as our launch progresses," said Kurt McNeil.
Loading dealers with the popular combination of the 5.3-liter V8 and the four-door, Crew Cab body style was intentional during the truck's launch, but as supplies of leftover 2013 models, which are being sold at heavy incentives, are beginning to wane, both budget-conscious and high-dollar buyers are looking elsewhere instead of at the volume model pickups.
