1995 Corvette

Engine is rock solid.  Trans is smooth.  This car runs great and has gotten a lot of compliments both for the interior and the overall look / sound.

In last couple weeks I drove to Atlantic City, NJ and then to Hershey, PA...car was a dream out on the open highways.  What a fun ride.

I'm selling the car due to divorce and some financial issues...otherwise I'd keep it forever.

My uncle bought the car 2 years ago for my cousin.  He wasn't into it so I've been driving it since.  It was kept in my uncle's name at the time.  Due to passing, it went into my cousins hands who didn't re-title it for some time.  Since he has moved out of state, it got titled into his name and then flipped to my name.  Since I've been going through a divorce, it was best not to keep it in my name, but then I had no choice.  Now I have no choice but to sell it.  When he titled it, DMV messed up the mileage reading, but it has been corrected and the picture in the listing shows the correct mileage.

It's a normal C4, 1995 Corvette.  The normal things that a 1995 needs have been recently done: complete interior (see pics), both headlight motors, brakes all around, 4 new tires + road force alignment, tie rod assembly, ignition coil, tune-up, fluids, and it has a valid NJ inspection.

I occasionally drive the car to work, but reserve most of my driving for weekends out on the highways.

The radio antenna shaft is broken off at half height.  Reception is fine so I haven't bothered to fix it.  Tape and CD work great and the system sounds perfect.  A/C blows strong but could probably use a boost.  It's fine for me as I usually have the windows down and the top off.  Also, the remote key fob is no longer in existence.

The car is being sold "as is" and is for sale locally...so, I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time in the event of a sale.    The reserve on this auction is less than my local listing price.
I'm giving it to you straight as best I can.  I'll be sad to see the car go, but I have no choice.

Buyer is responsible for vehicle pick-up / transport.
Deposit required.  Payment in full within 3 days is expected.  I will not release the title until payment is received / cleared.
All sales are final.

Toyota tops Kelley Blue Book's Resale Value Awards

Tue, 27 Nov 2012

Kelley Blue Book announced its annual Best Resale Value Award winners, and we weren't too surprised to see the list dominated by Japanese automakers - mainly Toyota and Honda. KBB hands out the awards based on the projected residual value of mostly all 2013 model year vehicles, and Toyota skated home with a number of awards including 10 of the 22 overall categories and having five of its products in the top 10 for models with best resale value. KBB's Best Resale Value Awards were announced in the same week as the ALG Residual Value Awards, and there were many similarities between both lists, especially when it came to Toyota.
To come up with its winners, KBB measures depreciation over the first five years of ownership, and looks for the cars it expects to hold its value the best after this time; on average, the report says the 2013 model year vehicles will lose 61.8 percent of its value in five years. Of the 22 categories, 15 slots were filled by Toyota, Honda and Nissan products, while the Camaro and Porsche (Cayenne and Panamera) each took home a pair of awards. If Toyota has anything to be upset about in this list of cars, it's that categories for Hybrid/Alternative Energy Car and Electric Vehicle went to the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Volt, respectively.
The overall top 10 models for the best resale value in 2013 are, in alphabetical order:

Steve McQueen's last movie car, now Pawn Stars-owned, up for auction [w/video]

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

The last car Steve McQueen ever drove in a movie is officially up for auction. The 1951 Chevrolet Styline DeLuxe Convertible you see above is now owned by none other than Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars fame, but once ferried McQueen around the set of his last film, 1980's The Hunter. That flick saw the Bullit star play a bumbling bounty hunter and didn't exactly set the box office on fire. McQueen bought the car after production wrapped, and four years later it sold at his estate sale at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas.
Flash forward to 2003, and the convertible received a full restoration back to near-stock specifications. Hagerty Insurance estimates the car to be worth around $45,000 without the significant providence. Given its ties to one of film's most popular gearheads, the old Chevrolet could fetch up to 10 times that when it goes under the gavel in Ft Luaderdale, Florida on March 22. You can head over to the Auctions America site for more information. You can also check out the trailer for The Hunter below.

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable

Fri, 21 Sep 2012

General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
