Up for bid is a custom one of a kind 2005 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe. 17,XXX Miles, 2 owner, No accident history, Never abused, raced, or driven hard. Has won 1st place at multiple car shows including two best of shows awards. Has been picked twice at Funfest by celebrity judges. Selected several times at The National Corvette Museum for awards. This has been a show car for my wife for the last four years. The car was completely stock when we purchased it in February 2009. We added the Z06 wide-body rear panels, Z06 brakes with custom powder coated to match lemans blue calipers, West Coast Corvette chrome wheels w/ Nitto Invo tires. 19x9.5 Front, 20x12 Rear. RK Sport high rise hood that will fit a Magnuson supercharger which we had planned on adding one day. Custom painted Jake Skull under the hood with true fire flames. Halltech air intake, Corsa extreme exhaust, custom painted engine covers, black chrome plenum cover, alternator cover, and fluid fill covers. Interior features Jake Skull floor mats and custom painted radio bezel and gauge cluster shroud. This car was highly optioned from the factory including heated seats, heads-up display, Bose stereo w/ 6 CD changer in-dash, and magnetic selective ride control. Comes with the transparent targa top. There has been over $15,000 that has been spent on custom accessories for this Corvette. Car is in excellent condition. Interior is like mint with little to no wear on the seats. No stains, rips, or tears. Exterior is in very good condition. No road rash, no curb marks on the wheels, only expect minor wear associated with 17k miles of gentle driving. This car is excellent for road trips and cruises. The car has always been serviced using Mobil One synthetic. Tires have around 12k miles on them. Still plenty of tread left. Car comes with matching lemans blue nylon stretch bra and an indoor car cover. This isn’t a fire sell. Just looking to free up some garage space for new toys. Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. GM tinkering with Silverado, Sierra model mix amidst strong early sales
Mon, 04 Nov 2013Variety, as they say, is the spice of life. That's a lesson that is currently being taught to General Motors, because despite a strong showing from its 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, the General's pickup sales still can't best those of cross-town rival Ford.
With 59,163 trucks moved, GM fell just over 1,000 units short of toppling Ford, and one of the main reasons for that, according to GM's chief sales analyst, was due to a lack of variety in the engines and body styles available on dealer lots. "We are still over-weighted toward crew-cab V8 trucks. Our light-duty mix will moderate over time as our launch progresses," said Kurt McNeil.
Loading dealers with the popular combination of the 5.3-liter V8 and the four-door, Crew Cab body style was intentional during the truck's launch, but as supplies of leftover 2013 models, which are being sold at heavy incentives, are beginning to wane, both budget-conscious and high-dollar buyers are looking elsewhere instead of at the volume model pickups.
