Don’t wait long on the chance to own a turnkey car that needs nothing. You are looking at a very well cared for 2008 C6 Z06 corvette with 12,800 careful miles. Loaded 2LZ model with Bose audio, six-CD changer, Telescoping steering wheel, heated seats, Navigation, Heads up display. It scores a 96 on the autocheck history report. In 2008 they produced 7731 z06 corvettes. Out of those only 819 were machine silver. You can find them but good luck finding a low mile extremely cared for with this color. This beauty had never seen the track. It has never been in the snow or rain. The last owner has not washed the car for three years. That might sound crazy but every time he took the car out he would feather it off and spray with Maguire’s quick wax wipe it down and put the cover back on it. It has been stored in a heated garage during the winter months its whole life. Every spring all the fluids in the car were changed by a certified GM corvette mechanic. I know all the history on this car and you can’t get more of a solid history on a used car. A local wholesale manager bought this car in November of 2009 when they took it on trade. He has owned this car until I bought it from him this last winter. The reason he sold the car he needed funds to finish up a restoration project that was costing more than anticipated. Lastly this car has thousands of dollars of very well selected modifications. The car has a Texas Speed LS7S camshaft, Texas Speed Cam kit PRC double spring kit and Hardened chromoly push rods, Hurricane air intake kit, Melrose headers and cats, Billy boat fusion exhaust, Mild to wild exhaust switch, MGW short throw shifter, Katech LS9X twin disk clutch, and a custom GM ZR1 cover. The last tuning of this car back in 2009 it put out 700 horse power at the motor and 583 at the rear tire. It is seriously the meanest sounding car that I have ever been around. You can cruise it on a 95 degree day with the air on with no problems at all. Any questions please let me know. Thanks

Chevy Corvette gets Valet Mode with Performance Data Recorder [w/video]

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

For the 2015-model-year, Chevrolet introduces Valet Mode for the Corvette, an enhancement to the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) already available and to your peace of mind. The PDR already captures 720p HD video with a windshield-mounted camera, records interior audio with a cabin microphone and gathers telemetry data using GPS, saving the data to an SD card in the glovebox. You can then watch your track-day antics with various information overlays on the center console screen.
Valet Mode will let you hit 'Replay' when your car gets pulled up front smelling vaguely of fricasseed clutch. Turned on by entering a four-digit code, it also locks the interior storage spaces and turns off the infotainment system. It can't be turned off until the code is re-entered. There's a press release below with more information as well as a video that explains how it works, with the obligatory dig at the 'Vette's biggest foe.

Chevy might've pulled out of NASCAR if it weren't for new Gen 6 car

Wed, 20 Feb 2013

We've been on the fence with NASCAR for some time now. On one hand, it's some of the closest racing anywhere in motorsports, with actual passing and door-handle-to-door-handle action as a matter of course. But on the other, it's become template racing - a personality-driven sport more about the drivers than any sort of loyalty to a particular automaker. The Car Of Tomorrow format really rammed that message home, with a racecar's identity coming down to little more than headlamp stickers slapped on the nose. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but we've wondered for some time what's in it for the automakers, who pay big money to stay in a series that has had little increasingly little do with street car sales, let alone innovation.
Apparently General Motors was beginning to wonder the same thing. In a new ESPN report, Rick Hendrick, team owner of Hendrick Motorsports, suggests that GM would have seriously considered leaving NASCAR if it wasn't for the move away from the COT to the new Gen 6 racer. According to Hendrick, GM North America boss Mark Reuss spearheaded the charge away from the 2007 COT and toward a racecar with clearer automaker ties - cars like the new Chevrolet SS racer shown above. Learn more about the fight for a closer-to-production look in the ESPN story at the link.
Now, if we could just get more rear-wheel drive V8 coupes into showrooms....

GM recalling 118K Colorado, Canyon pickups over missing hood latches

Thu, 20 Dec 2012

General Motors has announced a recall of 118,800 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickup trucks due to the possibility of secondary hood latches not being installed at the time of manufacture. The affected vehicles are from the 2010, 2011 and 2012 model years, all of which were built between November 9, 2009 and August 28, 2012.
According to the official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report, these trucks fail to "comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 113, 'Hood Latch System.' The hood may be missing the secondary hood latch." In other words, owners of these trucks could find their vehicles' hoods opening unexpectedly while driving.
The official recall campaign is expected to begin on January 17, 2013. Dealers will inspect the affected pickups and if a secondary hood latch is not present, one will be installed free of charge. Scroll down to read the official NHTSA report.
