This is a very nice 1959 Elcamino according to the VIN it started out as a six cylinder, the cowl tag says it was an eight but vin says six. Ive read online that all 59 came with the cowl tag for an eight?. This car was bought in  colorado in 2000 by a friend in New Mexico, who redid the car himself. This isnt a professional restoration but still was done very nice. He replaced the quarter panels on it and did the rest of the body work on it. The black on the car has a red metalic on it , the car looks good and turns heads everywhere. The floor pans where patched but not with oem pans. He just used some steel did a nice job but its not professional. Please see the pictures. There is two cracks on the drivers right quarter also see the pics. The interior is very nice he had the seat reupholstered, new carpet, new door panels and headliner. Has power windows with the switch located on the lower extended dash/ gauge holder. The speedometer and gas guage do not work, the temp, oil and alt gauge are working. The engine decodes to being a 1965 to 1967 283, it has a 1968 0r 1969 muncie 4 speed according to the number on the housing.  The engine runs out nice. The brakes need some work they stop but it has 4 wheel drum brakes with the original one hole master cylinder. The tires on the front are good, the rear have good tread but are dry rotted very bad i would not  drive far on them. It has dual exhaust in almost like new condition. the under side of the vehicle was also cleaned and coated. the bed was lined with a rhino type lining not sure what brand it is. It has the california one peice bumpers with the rear bumper having the steps on it. It has a custom grill but also have the original grill that goes with the car. The stainless is decent. Im sure there is more that ive missed, Im not trying to trick or cheat anyone ive told what i know if you have more question please ask and ill check . That being said if you do not have more than10  bids on ebay please conttact me first so that i know your real and not one of these players out there. If you do not contact me i will delete you. This is not professional retoration, But it is a very good looking car and turns heads you dont need to do anything major to this Elcamino just enjouy all the attention it gets. . So let me repeat this is not a professional job . There where only 22,246 of these made so not many left out there today. I dont need to sell this car and wont give it away.

Amelia Island 2013: Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray from concepts to split windows

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

While this year marks 60 years of the Chevrolet Corvette, the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance focused on one of the coupe's most sought after models, the 1963 Sting Ray. General Motors design boss Ed Welburn was on hand to show off the all-new C7 Corvette, but even the hard-edged styling of the 2014 Stingray couldn't take away from the beautiful 1963 models sitting out on the field.
In addition to the original Sting Ray and the 1959 Sting Ray Concept, some of the other classic 'Vettes included "Big Tank" racecars, an interesting cutaway coupe, a right-hand-drive Z06 and the attention-grabbing 1963 Corvette Rondine by Pininfarina. Another impressive Corvette was the 1964 Corvette XP-819 rear-engine prototype. Owner Mike Yager had the car finished as a driving chassis for this year's show, but promises the car will be back to its original glory in time for next year's event.

Chevy monitors drivers' biometrics while experiencing new Corvette Stingray

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

We tell you about what a car is like to drive every day, remarking on throttle response, steering weight and feedback, squat, dive, brake fade and a dozen or more other factors of performance. What we can't tell you, though, is what the car does to us - how its performance impacts us, physically. That's what makes this video series from Chevrolet so darn cool.
The Bow-Tie brand rented out Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, got several (very) different individuals together, strapped a bunch of sensors to their bodies to record biometric data ranging from heart rate to respiration to brain activity, and then handed them keys to the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The results are explained in a series of videos, devoted to each driver, showing how different people react to the Corvette's performance.
If, like your author, you're a nerd for medical science, this is going to be a fascinating set of videos. If not, it's still pretty cool to see how the body of someone with racing experience, like Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, reacts to tracking a car like the Corvette Stingray compared to the owner of legendary Detroit barbecue joint, Slows BBQ. Take a look below for all six videos from the series, or hop over to the Corvette Vimeo channel for the interactive experience, where you can see all the different metrics.

Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction

Sun, 17 Feb 2013

It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.
