1972 El Camino Custom No Reserve!!! on 2040-cars
Lanett, Alabama, United States
For sale is a 1972 Chevrolet El
Camino Custom. It runs and drives/breaks great, and I’ve gone through periods where I
used it as a primary means of transportation. It sure is an attention getter—I can’t
even go to the grocery store or gym without several people standing around it
as I go to leave, asking questions, etc. I’ll miss it deeply for that reason
alone. The pics were taken outside, but
it has been garage kept since day 1. It’s not perfect. The belt sometimes
squeals on start up, but it starts right up, runs and drives great. It’s got a
few scratches, cracks, rust, dings etc. but nothing big or very noticeable. The
dash seems to be missing some fasteners where the gauge cluster attaches. All
the gauges work except for the oil lamp. No A/C or radio installed. While the
headlights/taillights and blinkers work perfectly, the lights in the dash
(blinker indicators, bulbs that illuminate the gauges at night, etc.) work but
not consistently. The previous owner had pulled the A/C control panel out for
some reason—I suppose to replace it (as you can see it sits on the column in
the pictures above). Headliner’s in great shape. One of
the seats is in great shape while the other isn’t—thus I put the seat covers on
both. It has the SS style dash (round gauges) and floor shifter (Hurst V-Matic
2) which I love. Windshield wipers work. Wheels are in good shape. Lots of
work done (on the suspension specifically) which I’ve attached pictures of the
receipts to account for. Model: L48, 350 CID, 4-bbl Engine: 350 4 bolt main—casting #
3970014. Engine ID Code: V0319TJA; Flint,
MI Assembly Vin 1D80J2B568266; Baltimore, MD
Assembly Rear Axle: CKD 0507B2, 2.73:1 –
12 Bolt (L48/350-4); Buffalo, NY Assembly Never had access to a lift in
order to identify the transmission type as the only way I know to do that is
via the pan shape. |

Pics Aplenty: Meet the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra [w/poll]
Thu, 13 Dec 2012Today was a pretty big day for General Motors, debuting the all-new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra light-duty pickup trucks ahead of their official showcase at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. And now that the dust has settled at GM's big reveal event, we've had a chance to snap dozens of photos of the new pickup pair from every angle.
We already told you the important bits earlier today (click here in case you missed it), but let's recap. Under the hood are three new engines - a 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 (you know, a version of the small-block that'll also be found under the hood of the C7 Corvette), all mated to six-speed automatic transmissions. The 2014 model year marks the return of the Z71 off-road package with Rancho shocks, front tow hooks and beefier underbody protection. Inside, there's a host of new technology and a greater focus on better quality and refinement.
Some of the nitty-gritty specifics (like engine output numbers and fuel economy) have yet to be revealed, and since we haven't driven the finished products yet, it's hard to say how these trucks will fare against rivals like the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150. For now, we can only judge these two books by their covers, and while we do like the designs of the new trucks, we Autoblog staffers are torn on exactly which one looks best.
Corvette Stingray Convertible images mysteriously appear on web, so we add our own
Tue, 22 Jan 2013It was inevitable that we'd see the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray topless at some point, but that didn't make us any less interested when a pair of supposedly leaked official images showed up on theautoinsiderblog.com last week. We posted them on our Facebook page, but held off reporting on them here until we could get a little more information.
Those images, which feature a dark red car on a sterile black studio background, supposedly first appeared on the website of diecast model maker Maisto. A Chevrolet spokesman has been reported saying that they are "not official images released by Chevrolet PR," which isn't a denial they're the real deal, but neither is it a confirmation.
Close examination of the photos suggest they could be official shots of the Corvette Stingray Convertible, and while some have doubted their authenticity due to a lack of vents (which were seen on the C7s that debuted in Detroit last week), it could be that the images are of a base model car without the Z51 package that doesn't require the extra venting and cooling.
Chevy Corvette Stingray "colorizer" lets you chase the rainbow
Thu, 14 Feb 2013After you've convinced your better half to let you buy a new Corvette, then comes the hard part... actually figuring out which 'Vette you want. While Chevrolet has yet to release the official configurator for the 2014 Corvette Stingray, it did give us something else to kill some time playing around with.
The C7 Corvette "colorizer" recently went online, and it lets you look at the car in all of its available colors and wheel options from four different angles so that when this car does go on sale, you know exactly which one you want. It includes the Corvette's full pallet of colors including Torch Red, Laguna Blue and the hue you see above, Velocity Yellow. Toss in the black wheels, and we're sold. If you have some time this afternoon, be sure to check it out the Corvette colorizer for yourself, and even if you don't have the time, we've put together a gallery with all of the possible color combinations.
