Dent on right front fender and inter tail gate is rough .and has small misc body dings here and there and paint chipped... my opinion is the car could use paint job ..Other then that if you do not mind looks just drive the car it runs real strong no smoke on start up no lifter noise or rod bearing noise hold oil pressuse real well from cold to full warm up about 30 p s i .I was told by original first buyer of car that engine was rebuilt but i have no proof of it as far as any reciepts .. Seems how i have bin Machanic for 45 years i believe the car will be trouble free to drive for long time .Cars drives down road real nice no left or right hand pulls when using brakes .Go's straight on road with no hands on steering ...This elcamino has lot going for it seems how its first year of down sized elcamino's and start of 5 Th Gen and there are less then 1700 ever built .... very good investment that keeps going up in value.. Car comes with org Tonneau cover ..New Elcamino SS dash badge and Hurst shifter badges .New clips for head liner trim. Build sheet from factory..Clean title... and Keys .... GM takes heat for aborted Silverado riff on 'Boston Strong' at World Series
Thu, 31 Oct 2013During game five of the World Series, Chevrolet was set to do a spot of marketing for the 2014 Silverado - fans at Busch Stadium in St. Louis would hold up placards that spelled out the words "Silverado Strong," a theme that Chevy has been promoting since the Silverado's launch with the song "Strong," by Will Hoge. The St. Louis promo was ultimately called off, though, over concerns that it'd be insensitive to the visiting Boston Red Sox. (You can see the image of what the stunt would have looked like above, courtesy of one timely Reddit user.)
Now, the Busch Stadium stunt might not have been a big deal, had the St. Louis Cardinals not been playing the Boston Red Sox. Following the tragic events in Boston during the marathon back in April, the phrase "Boston Strong" gained traction among the city's citizens, especially at sporting events. So, you can imagine that Chevy's appropriation of the phrase might not sit well with some fans.
The stunt was ultimately shelved after images of the signs went viral before the game, leading to a bit of a public backlash. Chevy spokesperson Michael Albano said of the promo that it was meant to show the brand's "commitment to baseball and its fans." But after the images went viral, the company "realized there was the possibility that we may offend some of the very fans we were trying to honor," Albano told Automotive News via email.
Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir.
