1981 Chevrolet El Camino 383 Skip White Crate Engine New Draglites W/ Mickey's on 2040-cars
Fort Wayne, Indiana, United States
1981 Chevrolet El Camino up for sale. Originally a Texas car, I bought
this car a couple years ago from a good friend of mine down there with a
bad transmission. He promised me first dibs on the car if he ever
needed to sell it...needless to say, I bought it. Stored the car in my
shop for a while then decided to build the car up this last winter to make it turn
key and ready to go. Offered the car back to him this spring, he was
financially unable to purchase it back from me, gave me his blessing to
sell it so here it is for sale. A very nice car indeed, not a spot of
rust anywhere. The paint is pretty good, needs a couple spots touched up
as seen in photos and a rear gear change would be in order depending on
how it would be driven. Car has A/C but is not charged but is all there, installed the motor with all the correct brackets and accessories should anyone want to utilize what is there. Brand new power steering complete, pump, lines and box. Other than that, look closely, the pics tell the rest of the
story...too much new stuff to list, lots of goodies. Here are the specs on the car...A very healthy 383 Skip White
Performance crate motor was coupled to a rebuilt TH350(TCI
Promaster/Case saver/Hughes 3000 Stall) and dropped in. Brand new Weld
Draglites with Mickey Thompsons were just added this last week and Pure
Muscle control arms in the rear. Offering the car for a bit of a loss just to move it as storage is an issue, definitely a great purchase for not much
money...don't miss out on this one! Selling no reserve, first bid will
own the car. Good luck bidding and thank you for looking!
Buyer responsible for vehicle acquisition and shipping costs. Mileage is exempt, new motor has low miles. |

2014 Chevrolet Malibu gets more torque, more room and inspiration from the Impala
Fri, 31 May 2013The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, having stared at the Impala across the showroom floor for a year, gets nips and tucks all over inspired by its larger brother. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder in the base car will get a stop-start system and 23 city miles per gallon, 35 highway, each number representing a one-mpg improvement over the 2013 car. Output is 196 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque.
Opt for the 2.0-liter turbo and, while power holds steady at 259 hp, torque goes up by 14 percent to a striking 295 lb-ft (a figure Chevy calls best in the class). The final details include newly programmed transmission shift points and faster shifts, for better engaging and enjoying the added power.
Looks-wise, the grille's been reshaped to be more in line with the new Chevrolet look, a narrower upper grille hovering over a larger lower grille.

The story of the 2014 Chevrolet SS: "Luxury, power, refinement, handling"
Thu, 07 Mar 2013Not including the women and men who built it, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has only been seen in person by a piddling number of people - fewer humans than would fill the gymnasium at a high school volleyball game. Not including the men and women who built it, no one has driven it. Even so, it is already saddled with two controversies: the way it looks and the way it shifts.
First to that shifting. Did we love the last Americanized Holden, the awesomely sportsome Pontiac G8 GXP, and its six-speed manual? Of course. Do we wish the SS came with a six-speed manual? Of course. But we'd like a toboggan to come with a manual transmission. We'd put a manual transmission on a weasel if we could because we're just wired that way; if it moves, it should come with a stick and a clutch. Or at least the option.
Let's climb down off the ledge, though. We haven't driven the SS and we have no idea how good (or not) the automatic is. And the Hobson's Choice in transmissions when it comes to sport sedans like the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Jaguar XFR-S and, oh yeah, cars-that-really-should-have-manuals like the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R and Porsche 918 and every single Lamborghini and Ferrari, for instance, hasn't stopped us from enjoying what is clearly the gruesome, dual-clutched demise of Western automotive civilization. Because in spite of our ululations at the dying of the six-speed light, we understand.
