1962 Impala two door hardtop. This car has the original 283 with a powerglide transmission. It has new paint, and the body is straight as an arrow. It has all new interior, carpet and weatherstripping. I bought this car from a gentleman who had owned it since he was a teenager. It was 100% original! He had it restored and then had to sell it. I put Boss 338 20x10 wheels with 285/30/ZR20 tires on the rear. It has 18x8 wheels on the front with 245/40/ZR18 tires. It has CPP drop spindles on the front. The car has 4 wheel disc brakes with a corvette manual master cylinder. The upper and lower control arms bushings and ball joints were also replaced. The driveshaft carrier bearing was replaced with a billet aluminum, polyurethane bearing.  I bought the car and made these modifications with the plan to install an LS1 engine and new transmission. I have the opportunity to buy a car I have always wanted, so I'm selling this one and a truck also. This car is beautiful inside and out. It was not a frame off restoration, but the undercarriage is in good condition. The car runs perfect! The drivetrain is all original to the car. I still have the original wheels and hubcaps that will go with the car if the buyer wants them. The buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping of the car. The car is sold as is with no warranty. If you are seriously interested in the car, email me at jct332wpd@aol.com with your name and phone number and I will call you and answer any questions you have. There is a $500 deposit required via paypal within 24 hours of end of auction. The remainder is required within seven days or at pickup of the car. This car has always been garage kept! The car is listed locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.

Read This: Auto Extremist advocates for Corvette as brand with multiple models [w/poll]

Fri, 25 Jan 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette really grinds Peter De Lorenzo's gears. Or, more accurately, the self-anointed Auto Extremist has an issue with what he sees as mismanagement of the legendary sports car by General Motors executives. In a new editorial on his website, De Lorenzo argues it's time to split Corvette off from Chevrolet to create an all-new brand, complete with a model range with at least three new takes on the sports car. Capable of fully leveraging the successes of the Corvette Racing program and brandishing the full might of GM's technical prowess, the Corvette brand would theoretically give Porsche something to sweat over.
Sure, that sounds like a party, but given GM's troubled track record when it comes to launching (let alone managing) brands, we say that's slippery slope that could just as easily end with the whole Corvette franchise in the scrap bin. Either way, the notion is certainly an interesting one. Head over to Auto Extremist to take in the full editorial, and then let us know what you think in Comments. Should GM split off its most storied nameplate?

2014 Chevy Silverado High Country spied wearing trappings of new luxury trim

Wed, 03 Apr 2013

Spy photographers have spotted the new Chevrolet Silverado High Country and GMC Sierra Denali out on public streets for a little testing. From the looks of things, the Silverado will receive a much-differentiated front fascia along with special badges and those honking 20-inch chrome wheels. Expect to find a more posh interior as well. Likewise, the Sierra Denali will wear a tweaked nose with the familiar Denali bling. The one of the GMC trucks spotted here rolls on 21-inch gunmetal wheels instead of the 20-inch chrome pieces of the High Country.
Word has it both trucks will go on sale after the Texas State Fair this summer. While General Motors hasn't said for certain what we can expect to find under the hood, we'd be surprised to see anything outside of the range of engines found in the standard Silverado and Sierra models. That means buyers should be able to get their hands on the efficient, 23-miles per gallon 5.3-liter V8.

UAW to vote on strike at Kentucky Corvette plant

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

The current wait time for a new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is well, not short. With word of a strike at the Bowling Green, KY factory responsible for seventh-generation sports car, though, that wait time could end up growing substantially.
Now, a strike is still a ways off. UAW Local 2164, which represents the 800 workers responsible for screwing the Corvette together, is set to vote on authorizing a strike today, but even if the employees give the action a go, it's far from a sure thing. According to The Tennessean, both regional and national union officials would need to put their stamp of approval on strike action.
"The membership has to vote to strike, but it's just a step in the process," said Gary Casteel, the UAW's Region 8 director and one of the people that would need to authorize a strike action. Casteel told The Tennessean, "It's purely a local situation, though. They are having some issues with the local management."
