THIS LISTING IS FOR MY 69 IMPALA TRUE SS427, HAS RUST, NEEDS RESTORATION, STARTS, RUNS, DRIVES AND STOPS BUT HAS NOT BEEN A DAILY DRIVER SINCE 1988. I WILL DESCRIBE THIS CAR TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY BUT I SUGGEST YOU COME ( OR HAVE SOMEONE ) INSPECT CAR IN PERSON. ASK ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO ANSWER.
FIRST YOU ARE WONDERING IF IT IS ONE OF THE 2455 CARS BUILT.YES. SECOND IF IT IS A NUMBERS MATCHING CAR,YES. THIRD HOW EXTENSIVE IS THE RUST,PRETTY BAD. FOURTH HOW IS THE CONDITION OF THE REST OF THE CAR,FAIR. I WILL GIVE YOU MY OPINION ON ALL OF THESE QUESTIONS, I AM NOT A BODY MAN BY TRADE, BUT I HAVE BEEN AROUND CARS MY WHOLE LIFE, ACTUALLY MOST OF IT UNDER THE HOOD. THIS CAR SOLD NEW IN TOPEKA KS. 4-30-69 AT VAN-T CHEVROLET. THEN WENT TO MANHATTAN KS. WHERE IT STAYED UNTIL 10/25/76 WHEN IT WAS SOLD AND WENT TO NEW CAMBRIA MO. UNTIL 8/27/88. CURRENTLY IN NW MO. AND IN MY NAME. I HAVE THE PROTECT O PLATE AND ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL, NO,I COULD NOT FIND THE BUILD SHEET. I HAVE HAD IT RESEARCHED BY MUCH MORE QUALIFIED PEOPLE THAN ME AND IS ON THE IMPALA SS427 DATA BASE. IN THE PICTURES, YOU WILL SEE THE NUMBERS ON THE FRONT RIGHT OF BLOCK.AS FAR AS THE TRANSMISSION AND REAR END NUMBERS, I HAVE NOT LOOKED BUT HAVE LITTLE DOUBT ON THERE ORIGINALITY. RUST IS A PROBLEM IN THIS PART OF THE COUNTRY, HAS RUST ON REAR QUARTERS, FRONT FENDERS, TRUNK, FRONT FRAME HORNS JUST BELOW RUST ON FRONT FENDERS, SOME UNDER THE TOP I AM SURE. I HAVE NOT PULLED CARPET BUT LOOKS FAIRLY SOLID EXCEPT FOR THE DRIVERS REAR IS ROTTED OUT. AS FAR AS THE INTERIOR, IT IS OLD BUT ALL THERE, MECHANICALLY THE ENGINE SOUNDS GREAT, TRANS SHIFTS GOOD, NEEDS BRAKE WORK, WINDOWS ROLL UP AND DOWN, SOME OF THE LIGHTS DON'T WORK, GAS TANK IS PROBABLY FULL OF CRAP. EXHAUST IS GOOD, GRILL BROKEN, SS EMBLEMS FROM TRUNK AND GRILL STOLEN, A/C COMPRESSOR TURNS FREE, NEW BATTERY, TIRES, PLUGS, POINTS/CONDENSER, FUEL FILTERS, FUEL PUMP, FACTORY STARTER REBUILT. IF YOU SEE SMOKE IN THE PICTURES IT IS BECAUSE ITS COLD HERE, ENGINE HAS NO KNOCKS, TICS, SMOKE OR MAJOR LEAKS. 15x7 RALLY WHEELS, CAPS AND RINGS. I BELIEVE PAINT TO BE ORIGINAL WITH THE EXCEPTION OF LEFT REAR LOWER QUARTER, THAT HAS HAD A POOR REPAIR DONE IN THE PAST. HAS HAD REAR SKIRTS ON IT MOST OF IT'S LIFE.DOORS ARE SOLID, SHUT GOOD AND DON'T SAG. I GAVE IT A QUICK BUFF JOB SO YOU COULD SEE WHAT YOU WERE BIDDING ON, CAR IS PRETTY STRAIGHT AND FAIRLY SOLID FOR A 44 YR OLD CAR FROM THIS AREA. DASH AND CONSOLE ARE IN GREAT CONDITION AND CRACK FREE. BACK GLASS LEAKS. THIS IS A NO BUY NOW AND NO RESERVE AUCTION! YOU MUST ARRANGE TRANSPORT. CALL IF YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT THE CAR, TIRED OF READING? PICTURES ARE WORTH 1000 WORDS.THANKS, CALL ME IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS. 660-254-6700 LEAVE MESSAGE AND I'LL CALL BACK. The casting numbers on the back of block are 3963512, It has factory disc brakes, I do not know what rear end it is but is a 12 bolt. The dash has gas gauge, clock and speedo, everything else is idiot lights. |

Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes
Wed, 31 Oct 2012It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.
Watch this time-lapse build of the Chevy SS for NASCAR
Fri, 08 Feb 2013There's only about a week left until we get our first look at the production version of the 2014 Chevrolet SS sedan, but Chevrolet NASCAR teams have been looking at the race version of the car all winter. Autoweek has posted a really neat time-lapse video showing just a portion of what it takes to build one of NASCAR's new Gen6 stock cars.
Though the video is quite brief, it does show almost the entire build process starting with just the car's nose, and it gives us a good look at how integral the template is to the final product. As a bonus, Hendrick Motorsports also provided some videos showing two of its teams performing pit stop tests over the winter. The second video shows some of the more detailed aspects of the racecar's rear end, including the stock-looking trunk cutout and a newly mandated rear bumper extension that will be used on super speedways like Daytona and Talladega.
To see what Team Chevy has been up to all off-season, check out all three videos posted after the jump.
