The Impala SS was a beautiful car for its time.  Jon Moss took a 1994 Caprice 9C1, lowered it, added 17" wheels, blacked out all the trim, and made a luxurious leather interior standard. It was such a striking car that it inspired the quote from its first brochure: "Lord Vader, your car is ready."

I purchased a 1996 DCM (Dark Cherry Metallic) from a gentleman in Southern California. This car has always been a west coast (arid, no snow/salt, less than a handful of rain showers) car and it is extremely clean. Overall 9/10.

I used it as a showcar when I lived in California. Custom stereo and a fully built, supercharged engine backed with a beefy 4L60E rebuild with a manual shift pack.

Never a trailer queen, I always drove to events to prove the viability of the high performance engine I had built for it. The leather is perfect, no rips or tears. Driver seat shows some change in color from use. Interior is pristine, a 9 out of 10. Non-smoking owner!

And that's why I'm selling her. I was lucky and got her at low miles. And I only put miles on her to the track and to shows. So, she's still low miles. And still in great condition. But I'm not going to drive her anymore and rack up miles... that would be foolish. A low 1800mi per year currently!

Plus, I'm moving and I do not want to subject her to another interstate move. The potential damage isn't worth it.

There are some paint chips along the body from the SoCal roads. And a few dime sized dings from inconsiderate show-goers leaning or bumping into her. The gloss on the ABS is fading as ABS from that era does but can be rejuvenated. The carpet has staining from people sitting in the car at shows and the times we were working on the car from the garage's floor.

I am selling without the stereo, HP engine and transmission. There is quite a bit of money invested in those and the price increase does not seem to fit the suitors for this vehicle. I do have numbers-matching block and transmission (they are included in this auction!), so you can fully restore it to original. Find a junkyard pull or get a HP engine of your own. [Stereo and LT1 are for sale. But not included in this auction. Message me for build sheet and price].

When not showing or driving her, she was in a garage, in the workshop, or in storage. But now I don't have storage anymore and the garage is filling up with stuff for the move. I do not want to leave her outside. So, time to sell to someone that will take her on new adventures. You will just sit there with her in the garage and stare at how beautiful she is once she has been detailed. I loved cleaning and polishing her and then just sitting there enjoying the amazing color and shine.

Reserve is low enough to buy new carpet and get a low mile engine/tranny combo from the junkyard.

You are welcome to come see the car, if you are local or will be in the area.

Use this PowerPoint when convincing your spouse to let you buy a Corvette

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

When you are not the one in charge of the purse strings, creativity is a must when trying to get the string-holder to bankroll that next shiny object you just can't live without.
When I was a kid, I decided that life wasn't worth living if it weren't in pursuit of owning a GMC Typhoon. My 12-year-old self crafted a fiscal strategy that, when combined with my offer of a 49-percent share of ownership in the car in return for my parents' contribution of 80-percent of the purchase price, would see me behind the wheel of a Typhoon by the time I hit college. They walked away from the negotiating table and, the economic climate of the 8th grade being what it was at the time, another partner wasn't found before the Typhoon was discontinued.
Roy El-Rayes, however, has succeeded where 12-year-old me failed, and he did it by using the sort of professionalism that only a PowerPoint presentation can provide, along with some humor and bold-faced flattery.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible gives us a couple of looks

Sat, 02 Mar 2013

Put away your pixel paintbrushes, kids. Pack up your Photoshop. This is the real-deal 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible in its first official images. The droptop Chevrolet will roll into the bright lights of the Palexpo exhibition at next week's Geneva Motor Show, a four-wheeled statement of intent that General Motors is serious about taking its Corvette franchise global.
Chevy isn't providing anything in the way of further details with these two shots, but we've learned at least a couple of things about the car shown here. First off, the example seen in these images is fitted with the optional Z51 Performance Package - something that isn't immediately evident because there's no sign of the coupe model's prominent ductwork on its rear haunches. In order to accommodate the power folding hard tonneau cover, the vents that feed the transmission and differential coolers have been relocated to the underside of the car. The dark paint color on this example also does a good job of muting the contrasting black front fender vents and hood opening - Z51-spec design details that have proven to be somewhat controversial.
One other thing to note: These two shots also display the Stingray wearing different alloy wheels than the split five-spoke design shown at the hardtop's Detroit Auto Show unveiling in January. The simpler, thin five-spoke wheels should do a good job of showing off the Z51's upgraded brakes, and they'll be optional on the coupe as well.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible is a Swiss hit

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

We've just received an early peek at the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible here at the Geneva Motor Show. General Motors was kind enough to let us attend the final dress-rehearsal for its press conference scheduled for tomorrow's opening media day, and we've come away with a good look at the droptop C7 in person.
In the metal, the new Corvette Convertible seems somehow less avant-garde than the Coupe, even in Z51 Performance Package guise. That's not necessarily a bad thing - more of an observation. That initial impression may be because the C7's new greenhouse is one of its most prominent departures from Corvettes past. While we didn't get to see the top erected, there's no rear side window in the stock images that Chevy has already released, suggesting the C7 convertible's profile will look a lot like its C6 predecessor. And with the new power tonneau cover in place, there are also no rear ducts that come as part of the Z51 package (they've been moved under the car).
As with its predecessor, the tonneau is a handsome double-bubble piece, and the body-color "waterfall" element into the cabin between the seats has made it to the new model as well. Thus, the overall look with the top down should be a bit more familiar to prior-gen C6 owners - if you're one of those put off by the C7's new shape, you'll probably appreciate the convertible bodystyle more than the coupe.
