1983 Monte Carlo Super Sport on 2040-cars

You will be bidding on a 1983 Monte Carlo Super Sport

I am the 3rd owner of this car. I purchased it from my friend’s mother back in 1985.

I drove it for about a year and decided to do some work to the car and eventually put it in a car show. It became a project that never ended. A friend of mine owned a body shop and once I gave him the car I really never got it back. It took him about a year to do the paint and once he was done I garaged it. I decided to get the fiberglass hood for it but never put it on. This car has been garaged since 1986 and has not been in the rain or snow since. It is all stock except for the rims, sunroof, sound system, and paint job. It has 40 thousand original miles on it. Not bad for a car that is 31 years old. The interior is immaculate as is the body. I start the car every 4 months and take it for a quick drive just to use the gas in the tank. She starts every time with no problem. The custom trunk and stereo cost me about 4 thousand a few years back. There is a DVD changer in the trunk with two 100 watt Sony amps one driving a 10 inch sub the other driving the 6X9 deck speakers. A Sony head unit driving the front speakers and tweeters. The trunk is all form fit no screws or glue. You can’t see it but there is a blue neon light that comes on when the trunk is open. It looks nice. I have the original rims for the car that will go with the sale. This car has been stored in a garage runs like new and is in beautiful condition. The reserve is 9K because I will not give it away. If you are looking for a 1983 Monte SS then you don’t have to look any further because this car is like brand new and in showroom condition. The hood must still be painted and put on the car. When bidding please remember that the hood is not finished. It requires paint and needs to be bolted on to the car. I have all the hardware to attach it but have not finished it. Need the cash and and its up for sale the reserve is 7900 firm. It’s a great car bid with confidence

Happy Bidding

Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept blends the past and the future

Wed, 19 Nov 2014

The Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo is the rare concept car that salutes a seminal moment in history, yet also borders on science fiction.
Revealed Wednesday at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the concept uses the name of one of Chevy's historic racing partnerships, with Chaparral Racing, which dates to the 1960s. Chaparrals raced successfully at a range of levels, including IndyCar, Trans-Am and SCCA competition.
But the history ends there, as the concept's main purpose is as a racecar in a downloadable update for the PlayStation 3 game Gran Turismo 6.

Final C6 Corvette built in Bowling Green

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

With all of the attention given to the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray lately, you could be forgiven for thinking that it's already well along in production, yet tooling up for the new C7 has only just begun. In fact, production of the outgoing C6 generation in Bowling Green, Kentucky just halted on Thursday.
As the C6 has aged, production numbers have predictably ebbed along with demand, but this year, the addition of the 427 and 60th anniversary models resulted in an uptick in vehicles built - this, despite a model year shortened by around 25 percent to accomodate the new model changeover. The final C6 Corvette ever, No. 13,466 built this year, was a white 427 Convertible destined for the General Motors Heritage Center museum. The car's 7.0-liter V8 heart was assembled by Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter himself.
In total, Bowling Green pushed out 215,100 C6 Corvettes over nine years. If you're still a C6 fan at heart and are hoping to get a good deal on a phase-out model, step lively - Chevrolet reportedly had about 6,100 unsold units, which Autoweek suggests is good for around five and a half months of supply at the model's current sales rates. Given that demand will likely slacken even further as the C7 draws closer, that should be a big enough stockpile to keep dealers satisfied until 2014 Stingrays begin showing up on their forecourts in December.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible headed for Geneva debut

Mon, 28 Jan 2013

While most of the world is still coming down from all the hype surrounding the debut of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this month, we're already looking to the future. And according to Autoweek, the next chapter in the C7 story will unfold at the Geneva Motor Show in March. That's right, General Motors is reportedly using the Swiss stage as its venue to debut the Corvette Stingray convertible.
If this strikes you as odd, you aren't alone. After all, with a car that's such an American icon, we'd fully expect Chevrolet to unveil it here on our shores in either Chicago or New York. But according to Autoweek, GM is looking to boost export sales of its halo car, and since the C7 was engineered to compete with the world's best and brightest, showing it off in Geneva is somewhat of a smart move. What's more, those with sharp memories will recall that GM used the Geneva expo to debut the sixth-generation C6 Corvette convertible back in March 2004, so there's also a precedent.
Details surrounding the Corvette Stingray convertible are still slim, though we fully expect the 6.2-liter V8 and choice of either six-speed automatic or seven-speed manual transmissions to carry over unchanged. Prototypes spotted on the road showed the car fitted with a cloth convertible roof, as well.
