Interior transition from maroon to black incomplete. Transmission has slow leak but functions fully."

1982 Monte Carlo purchased on eBay in 2010 from North Carolina owner.  Previous owner drag raced the car; installed rebuilt (bored over) Chevy 350 motor and TH350 trans, air bags on rear suspension, removed vinyl from top, painted car Burple (blue/purple candy).  Car has less than 2,000 miles on rebuilt engine.  Original car mileage unknown (suspected 110,000 or so).

Since purchasing the car I have made numerous improvements including Corbeau Wide Sport seat (driver) and Summit Racing seat (passenger), AutoMeter gauges, new carpet, CD player, speakers, amplifier. Spectre Cold Air Intake system, Hurst lock-out Hammer shifter, new exhaust, radiator and hoses, front shocks, 20 inch chrome wheels, Harwood fiberglass hood (still black).

Car runs and drives fantastic.  Needs new carburater installed (new Holley 4-barrel carb included with car), transmission has slow leak but functions completely; needs interior work to complete transition from maroon to black.  Car has no catalytic converter so will NOT pass emissions (check your state for whether 1982 cars require emissions tests; IL does not).  Burple paint is not in good shape; needs cut and buff or refinishing.  Looks good from a distance but not close up.

This car is my dream project, but a recent job change requires me to get something more practical for city driving.

Complete list of improvements available by request.

Corvette Stingray designer lists five goals of new exterior shape

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

Redesigning an icon is a difficult task, especially when you've got a blank sheet of paper in front of you and the all-new C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is intended to be your final objective.
General Motors has released a new short video featuring Kirk Bennion of the Corvette's exterior design team, talking about the challenges of sculpting Chevrolet's new flagship sports car and the five goals the team had to keep in mind as it worked. In the end, Bennion's team had the pleasure of seeing their hard work take center stage as the Corvette captured the world's eyes at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year.

Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.

GM investing $167m in Spring Hill for new midsize vehicles

Tue, 06 Aug 2013

General Motors has announced a large investment in its Spring Hill, Tennessee facility. The former home of Saturn production will be getting a $167 million addition to a previously announced $183 million, to cover a pair of new midsize vehicles. The investment is expected to create 1,800 jobs at the factory.
That $350 million is being divvied up for a pair of programs at Spring Hill. The first will take the bulk of the money ($223 million) and create 1,000 of the 1,800 jobs, while the other will take the remaining $127 million and generate the leftover 800 positions. But GM says the investment will cover "midsize vehicle programs." So what could they be?
The leading candidate in our minds is a new crossover for Buick, called the Anthem, that will slot between the Encore and Enclave, but will be slightly smaller than the Equinox and Terrain. As we've explained, the new model will likely be the first product to sport GM's new D2UX platform, which will eventually replace both the Delta and Theta platforms. Spring Hill is already building the Equinox, so there could be some credence to this theory.
