Original 1973 Chevy Monte Carlo Pre Smog Hot Rod on 2040-cars

Year:1973 Mileage:61830
Location:

Rohnert Park, California, United States

Rohnert Park, California, United States

Up for auction is a nice, original 1973 Chevy Monte Carlo, 2 door coupe, with the landau vinyl top. The car is a nice, original, California driver car. It is not a show car, but a very clean, original car. The body is very straight, and only has 2 tiny spots of rust on the entire car (shown in pictures) The Monte has a replacement GM 350 crate motor, with a Edelbrock built Quadrajet carb, Pro comp distributor, ignition box, and coil. It has single chamber flowmasters, and new dual exhaust. The interior is all original black, with a bench seat and a rally dash (tach and gauges) it has a tilt wheel, and the factory 8 track radio! It is and original air conditioning car, but the compressor seized up, so it was removed. The heater core has been bypassed because the core was leaking.

Everything except the heater/ac works on the car: wipers, all lights, all gauges, etc etc. The car has black Chevy ralley wheels 15x7 in front and 15x8 in the rear, with brand new raised white letter tires. The car has the factory front disc brakes, and drum rears. It is a blue plate car, and also comes with the original GM keys. It has the original white paint, that is in pretty good condition for its age. It has a couple of spots that have been touched up with spray paint. All of the factory moldings have been removed, but the original mounting pegs are all there. The trunk has been recoated with zolotone, and does not have any rust.

The car runs and drives great, no issues at all, the exhaust has a nice muscle car tone, the trans goes right in gear, the brakes work great.

If you are looking for a pre smog muscle car, without the big pricetag of a Camaro, Chevelle, Nova, etc, this might be a great option. This is a real nice, driver quality car, that could be brought to the next level, if someone wanted to.

Thanks for looking, and please check my feedback. If there is any questions, please email me. Mike

Watch this time-lapse build of the Chevy SS for NASCAR

Fri, 08 Feb 2013

There's only about a week left until we get our first look at the production version of the 2014 Chevrolet SS sedan, but Chevrolet NASCAR teams have been looking at the race version of the car all winter. Autoweek has posted a really neat time-lapse video showing just a portion of what it takes to build one of NASCAR's new Gen6 stock cars.
Though the video is quite brief, it does show almost the entire build process starting with just the car's nose, and it gives us a good look at how integral the template is to the final product. As a bonus, Hendrick Motorsports also provided some videos showing two of its teams performing pit stop tests over the winter. The second video shows some of the more detailed aspects of the racecar's rear end, including the stock-looking trunk cutout and a newly mandated rear bumper extension that will be used on super speedways like Daytona and Talladega.
To see what Team Chevy has been up to all off-season, check out all three videos posted after the jump.

Read This: Auto Extremist advocates for Corvette as brand with multiple models [w/poll]

Fri, 25 Jan 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette really grinds Peter De Lorenzo's gears. Or, more accurately, the self-anointed Auto Extremist has an issue with what he sees as mismanagement of the legendary sports car by General Motors executives. In a new editorial on his website, De Lorenzo argues it's time to split Corvette off from Chevrolet to create an all-new brand, complete with a model range with at least three new takes on the sports car. Capable of fully leveraging the successes of the Corvette Racing program and brandishing the full might of GM's technical prowess, the Corvette brand would theoretically give Porsche something to sweat over.
Sure, that sounds like a party, but given GM's troubled track record when it comes to launching (let alone managing) brands, we say that's slippery slope that could just as easily end with the whole Corvette franchise in the scrap bin. Either way, the notion is certainly an interesting one. Head over to Auto Extremist to take in the full editorial, and then let us know what you think in Comments. Should GM split off its most storied nameplate?

Chevy Sonic shreds like a skateboard

Tue, 19 Mar 2013

Despite the fact that the 2013 Chevy Sonic is a fun, plucky little thing - especially in ever-so-slightly hotter RS guise - it is not, in fact, a skateboard. But don't tell that to rapper Theophilus London.
In General Motors' latest spot for the Chevrolet compact, London needs to make a quick run to the store for some milk. And even though, once again, the Sonic is not a skateboard, it ollies, pops and gets air because, you know, it's just so much fun to throw around.
If this video looks familiar to you, it's because this is the full ad that we first got a preview of in Chevy's longer, full-line spot, where the brand's "Find New Roads" tagline was introduced. Scroll down to see this dedicated Sonic spot, along with the older ad, and remember, the Sonic is still - still - not a skateboard.
