I'm the second owner of this 74 Nova. It was built at the Van Nuys plant in Calif. When I bought it, it had the original 350 V8 with the 350 Turbo Hydromatic, (3 speed automatic trans.) Except for some upgrades and replacement parts I kept this Nova as close to original as possible. I wanted a true SS but they were either a rust bucket or going for 30K. The engine had oil leaks and was burning some oil so I decided to clone me an SS. The interior has a new dashboard pad and not some plastic cover, the door panels are new also. The stereo, that was professionally installed, is a Blaupunkt w/CD player and the front in-dash speakers are Alpine and the back are Jensens 6x9. I installed a aftermarket RPM in-dash gauge where the clock was on the upper right side. This gauge was design to look and fit like it was factory installed. I installed a rebuilt tilt steering column from a 69 Camaro because I couldn't find one from another Nova for manual shift. Most guys would just knock out the pin and remove the automatic column shift stick but that leaves that little hump, too tacky for me. And yes I did replace the rag joint coupler and installed a new heater core for good measures. It does have P/S, P/B, A/C, a rear window defogger and a third brake light on the inside that was installed by the original owner. I installed a mechanical gauge set, water temp, amps and oil pressure to keep an eye on the engine. The speedometer needs to be calibrated, it's off by 10 mph, and the floor pan under the drivers side needs to be repaired or replaced because it has some cracks in one small area. I guarantee that you won't fall through the floor but it needs to be addressed. Other than that everything works and as you can see the interior looks excellent for it's age. The engine is a NOS (new old stock) 350 L31 Vortec  stock short block with four bolt main. The top end is all Edelbrock from the cam and it timing chain set, aluminum heads, air gap intake and 800 CFM carb. I can provide the part number to these performance parts if you want to check over the spec's. I didn't just guess at what to install, I talk to Art at Edelbrock and he gave me a performance package to install on this stock L31 block. I installed a high volume Meiling oil pump for good lube and high flow water pump with 3 roll aluminum radiator for excellent cooling. Spark comes from a MSD 9000 RPM distributor. Hooker ceramic headers, Flowmaster Super 44's with 2 1/2" plumbing allows that cam to be heard and roars down the rode. The clutch is a Centerforce dual friction with a Muncie M20 and Hurst Comp Plus 4 speed behind it. HD universal joints were install and the rear end is a stock 10 bolt with highway gears. Front disc brakes are new drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads and new drums and shoes on the back. As for the body it's never been in a wreck but there's a nasty gash on the passenger side rear fender just above the tire. The chrome and stainless steel is close to excellent condition. Rims are factory 14x7 SS rally with all the trimmings and rubber is B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A. It needs a few dime size dents here and there popped out and a new paint job. There is room for improvement here that's why I didn't go too far with it. No cutting torch, welding or jerry rigging was used here and all the new parts came from Classic Industries, Summit Racing and Edelbrock. As for the SS part the horn pad is SS, the new from grill is SS, the stainless steels rings around the taillights are SS and I have both fender SS emblems and rear trunk emblem. When it came to the Nova SS Chevrolet didn't have any set pattern, some had a center console, some had just the stick shift, some had the RPM gauge in the upper left side of the speedometer, some not. I provided the honest facts, I've seen Nova's on here going for close to what I'm asking and I can't believe the awful condition or dramatic personal changes. This is the cleanest Nova around and it was built to be a daily driver and last. Buyer must pick up car or have it delivered by your own service. Title is clear and registration is up to date. When I bought the car back in 2008 it had 27,000 original miles not 127,000 and it shows. In Calif. it is smog exempt. Fill free to contact me with your questions. Sorry NO CHECKS of any kind. The price is firm.

UAW to vote on strike at Kentucky Corvette plant

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

The current wait time for a new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is well, not short. With word of a strike at the Bowling Green, KY factory responsible for seventh-generation sports car, though, that wait time could end up growing substantially.
Now, a strike is still a ways off. UAW Local 2164, which represents the 800 workers responsible for screwing the Corvette together, is set to vote on authorizing a strike today, but even if the employees give the action a go, it's far from a sure thing. According to The Tennessean, both regional and national union officials would need to put their stamp of approval on strike action.
"The membership has to vote to strike, but it's just a step in the process," said Gary Casteel, the UAW's Region 8 director and one of the people that would need to authorize a strike action. Casteel told The Tennessean, "It's purely a local situation, though. They are having some issues with the local management."

Dodge vs. Chevy tug-of-war taken to the extreme

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

They say "idle hands are the devil's playground," but said playgrounds grow to Disney-sized proportions when a pair of jacked-up trucks, two egos, a chain and an empty mall parking lot are involved. Proof of this is the video below, which shows a Cummins-powered Dodge Ram circa 2006 to 2008 chained tail-to-tail with what looks to be a gasoline-powered Chevrolet Silverado from the late 1990s or early 2000s.
We don't necessarily have to tell you who wins this battle, but we'll let you see for yourself the lengths the "winning" driver goes to prove his point. There's plenty of foul language in the video below, so beware that this might be Not Safe For Work, and not that we should have to tell you, but please, do not try this at home.

Why Cadillac thinks it needs to succeed in Europe to sell cars elsewhere

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Ward's Auto has taken an interesting look at the renewed focus General Motors is showing towards Cadillac in Europe. Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet and Cadillac in Europe (pictured), says in order for the luxury brand to thrive in China, it first needs to succeed in the old country. The reason? Chinese buyers look to Europe for cues as to what's deemed worthy of the term "luxury." There are hurdles to the plan, however. In addition to the fact that the EU is flooded with high-end nameplates, GM doesn't necessarily have the distribution network in place to put buyers behind the wheel.
Combine that with persistent economic woes and Cadillac's checkered past marred by a lack of diesel engine options and a bankrupt distributor, and the road ahead for the brand looks like less of an uphill climb and more like a straight-up cliff face. But Docherty is optimistic and says she has a plan for the brand. We recommend heading over to Ward's for a closer look at the full read.
