RELISTING DUE TO A NON PAYING BUYER!!!  IT COSTS MONEY TO LIST ON EBAY SO PLEASE DONT WASTE MY TIME.  MAKE A REASONABLE OFFER AND I WILL ADD A BUY IT NOW.

Up for auction is a 1948 GMC 1/2 ton truck mounted on a late '80s chevy S10 frame.  This one has the firewall and 2.8l V6 attatched as well.  Ive seen these trucks done like this a few times, but this one is done very nice.  The firewall and partial floor is welded nicely to a new solid floor in the GMC.  The floor is all newly replaced with a heavy guage steel braced with angle iron and some box tubing.  The frame was sectioned to adapt to the GMC wheelbase.  Everything is overdone and is very solid. I got this truck as an unfinished project and just took it to the next level.  The body has some metalwork done to it that also looks good.  The bodywork and paint is not perfect by any means.  The truck looks good, but has minor flaws and ripples that wont show up in the pics. The paint is basecoat clearcoat and only a few weeks old.  The interior floor and roof is done with spray in truck bed liner. The new parts I added to this truck include: New Glass all around, Glass weatherstripping, mirror, door handles, oak bed floor, bed wear strips, headlight rings, marker and tail lights, clutch mastercylinder, clutch and pressure plate, tires, battery, wheel spacers, and probably some other small stuff that I cant recall. The windows go up and down ok, but the splines on the handle shafts are broken.  All the lights work.  Brand new big fat tires!!!  The bed floor is a stained and varnished sheet of 3/4" oak plywood mounted on new bed braces.  The S10 dash shows over 200k miles, but I was told the engine had less than 100k.  The truck runs and drives down the road very good.  Needs wipers and hood latch.  I have the old A/C box and fan if someone wanted to retrofit it.  I was going to do it, but ran short on time and mounted the battery in that area.  There is plenty of room for someone to do a V8 conversion.  Probably more room than on the original S10. No warranty.  Any questions, or if you would like to swing by and take a peek, call me at 570-299-1755 or shoot me an email.  Im setting the reserve very low.  Most of my auctions on these old trucks don't go the full 7 days.  Feel free to make an offer.  I have a clear KY title for this truck.  Titled as 48 GMC.  Please don't play games.  Bid to win!

I will have a 1949 Chevy 5 window 3100 on a full size frame with a 350 V8 available toward the end of this month.

I added 2 better pics of the interior.  I have a few more that I took today but the listing only let me add 2 more.  If anyone needs a few more pics, just let me know.

GM takes heat for aborted Silverado riff on 'Boston Strong' at World Series

Thu, 31 Oct 2013

During game five of the World Series, Chevrolet was set to do a spot of marketing for the 2014 Silverado - fans at Busch Stadium in St. Louis would hold up placards that spelled out the words "Silverado Strong," a theme that Chevy has been promoting since the Silverado's launch with the song "Strong," by Will Hoge. The St. Louis promo was ultimately called off, though, over concerns that it'd be insensitive to the visiting Boston Red Sox. (You can see the image of what the stunt would have looked like above, courtesy of one timely Reddit user.)
Now, the Busch Stadium stunt might not have been a big deal, had the St. Louis Cardinals not been playing the Boston Red Sox. Following the tragic events in Boston during the marathon back in April, the phrase "Boston Strong" gained traction among the city's citizens, especially at sporting events. So, you can imagine that Chevy's appropriation of the phrase might not sit well with some fans.
The stunt was ultimately shelved after images of the signs went viral before the game, leading to a bit of a public backlash. Chevy spokesperson Michael Albano said of the promo that it was meant to show the brand's "commitment to baseball and its fans." But after the images went viral, the company "realized there was the possibility that we may offend some of the very fans we were trying to honor," Albano told Automotive News via email.

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"

Chevy monitors drivers' biometrics while experiencing new Corvette Stingray

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

We tell you about what a car is like to drive every day, remarking on throttle response, steering weight and feedback, squat, dive, brake fade and a dozen or more other factors of performance. What we can't tell you, though, is what the car does to us - how its performance impacts us, physically. That's what makes this video series from Chevrolet so darn cool.
The Bow-Tie brand rented out Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, got several (very) different individuals together, strapped a bunch of sensors to their bodies to record biometric data ranging from heart rate to respiration to brain activity, and then handed them keys to the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The results are explained in a series of videos, devoted to each driver, showing how different people react to the Corvette's performance.
If, like your author, you're a nerd for medical science, this is going to be a fascinating set of videos. If not, it's still pretty cool to see how the body of someone with racing experience, like Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, reacts to tracking a car like the Corvette Stingray compared to the owner of legendary Detroit barbecue joint, Slows BBQ. Take a look below for all six videos from the series, or hop over to the Corvette Vimeo channel for the interactive experience, where you can see all the different metrics.
