This truck is a great daily driver completely rebuilt from frame up. Originally built in Los Angeles California plant and now comfortably garaged at my home in Encinitas. This classic stove bolt has never left southern California.  The beautiful thing about buying a clean california truck is that there was virtually no rust and the body was clean and straight having never been in an accident. The engine was kept to the original style 6 cylinder but upgraded to a powerful 261 with 858 high compression head. All new Dual Fenton exhaust with new vintage Smittheys and chrome tips, Edelbrock twin air intake with twin rebuilt Rotchester manual choke carbs, chrome air cleaners. All new wiring, upgraded to 12 volt system, electric windshield wipers, New alternator, new radiator, all new chrome, I believe to be the original bed in excellent condition, New shocks, rebuilt brakes and lines, new rubber around glass and doors. Quality sound and heat barrier installed throughout cab, new rubber floor mat as well as extra new carpet kit (not installed). Rebuilt Clutch, upgraded 411 rear end. I could go on listing items as I have replaced, polished, chromed or repaired almost every part and have over $27,500 in receipts over the past two years getting this truck to look and drive like it does. The interior is immaculate with only minor discoloration and cracking on the steering wheel. Everything works, the instrument panel was replaced to original style but upgraded to reflect the correct oil pressure and voltage and reflects the 250 miles from the completion of the restoration. The paint is very clean though has a few imperfections and small chips. The logos on the doors are vinyl and can easily be removed. The paint is a color correct 63 Chevy Surf Green Lacquer though the fenders and bed have a clear poly over. The largest chip is pointed out on the driver side front fender close to the grill.  The 4 speed manual transmission is solid and between the engine and new differential will run highway speed of 60mph with no problem. This truck turns heads where ever I go and I have many extra and original parts that can go with it. This truck is for sale locally and may terminate the auction early. Low reserve.

2014 Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra full configurators truck in

Sat, 15 Jun 2013

You can now put prices to your wildest option-sheet dreams of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. A microsite for the full-size pickup truck twins has been up since January, and now the full-blown configurator is live and ready to take your virtual orders. The only two chassis configurations available at the moment are the Crew Cab with either a short or standard bed - Regular and Double Cab versions will come later. In Silverado flavors that will run you $32,710 for the short box, $33,010 for the standard box, while the Sierra adds a $1,500 premium to both of those prices, and destination and handling for both models adds another $995.
Since these are American pickups the list of modifications is lengthy, but we added $11,450 in just two steps by starting with the Silverado Crew Cab and standard bed, then checking four-wheel drive and the LTZ Z71 package. Our final truck, resplendent in Brownstone Metallic paint, heated and cooled Cocoa/Dune perforated leather seating and tasty details like chrome recovery hooks, and engine block heater and LED cargo box lighting, rang up $57,285 at the candy store.
They'll be on dealer lots sometime this summer, so now's a good time to start practicing your box-checking.

Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.

C7 Corvette makes inaugural ad appearance in Chevy's first spot with new slogan

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

Chevrolet's "Runs Deep" tagline has finally been run into the ground, replaced with the Bowtie brand's "Find New Roads" slogan that's part of parent General Motors' plan to unify its everyday brand's marketing efforts worldwide. The new Chevrolet campaign was ushered in on prime time last night during the Grammy Awards on CBS, and the first spot, a 90-second full-line ad, also marks the first appearance of the 2014 Corvette Stingray in a commercial.
Being a full-line ad, the commercial is composed of vignettes centered on different vehicles in the brand's lineup. The all-new 2014 Impala also makes its first commercial appearance in dapper fashion, and time is spent on a skateboarding Sonic and a bouquet of brightly colored Spark hatchbacks driven by fashionable women. The ad starts and ends with Chevy's green halo car, the Volt, along with a young girl with her robotic dog (yes, really).
Chevrolet's "Runs Deep" campaign got off to a rocky start in the fall of 2010, but it did last for a couple of years with some tweaks. This new one, "Find New Roads" seems more intent on drawing new customers into the fold than the outgoing tagline, which seemed to play more toward the brand faithful. It admittedly reminds us more than a little the short-lived "Find Your Own Road" Saab motto (which, we note, was conceived while the Swedish brand was under GM's control), but no matter, we still think it's got more long-term potential than "Runs Deep."
