1954 Chevrolet Shortbed Pickup on 2040-cars
Stout, Iowa, United States
1954 Chevrolet shortbed pickup I built this truck over the winter to use as a shop truck. Due to recent flooding issues in our area, I am selling the truck to pay for home repairs. I also will be listing a 1952 Chevy Suburban, and a 1952 Chevrolet pickup in seperate auctions. Here is a list of new parts that have gone into the build of this truck. Electric cooling fan, 12 volt alternator, fan belt, carb rebuild kit, choke cable, fuel pump and fuel filter, spark plugs, points and condensor, 12 volt ignition coil, ignition switch, headlamp switch, dimmer switch, brake light switch, tail/brake light assemblies, box clearance lights, license plate light, front park lamp assemblies and lights, headlamp bulbs, dash lamp bulbs, all new wiring throughout the complete truck, new fuse box, rebuilt master cylinder, four rebuilt wheel cylinders, hydralic brake hoses and all new steel brake lines, new carpet on floor, kick panels, headliner and rear of cab behind seat in fuel tank area, all new 1x6 box boards, radiator and fuel tank have been flushed, less than 5K miles on rebuilt 235 6 cylinder engine, new flat black paint, all four tires are radials with over 50% tread. As you can see in the pictures, there is a bullethole in the windshield and the exit in the back window, and Ieft it that way because I think it adds character. This is a good driver quality truck, not a show truck-(amateur paint and body) Clear Iowa title in my name until March 2015. Please ask any questions before bidding. If you have less then 10 feedback contact me before bidding, or your bid will be cancelled. Immediate 500 deposit through PayPal-(cash or certified check within 7 days) |

GM 6.2L V8 claims most powerful light-duty truck engine title
Thu, 12 Sep 2013General Motors has officially captured the horsepower crown for mainstream pickup trucks with its 6.2-liter V8. The big mill, available in both the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, comes to market with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, handily outdoing its two cross-town competitors, Ram (5.7-liter V8, 395 ponies and 407 lb-ft) and Ford (6.2-liter V8, 411 hp and 434 lb-ft).
The new GM 6.2 will take a bit of an investment, though. Those that want the extra thrust will need to go with either the LTZ or High Country trims from the Chevy, or the SLT and Denali trims from GMC, which are the two highest trim levels for the respective vehicles. Trim levels aside, if you're in the business of towing, GM has you covered. Optioned with the 6.2-liter V8 and the Max Trailering Package, owners will be able to pull 12,000 pounds, a hugely impressive figure.
We still aren't certain as to what sort of economy the new engine will get, but it'll probably be a bad bet for the fuel conscious. As for availability, expect to see the 6.2-liter trucks in showrooms later in the fall.
Fewer than 1 in 3 Chevy dealers earn right to initially sell C7 Corvette
Mon, 01 Apr 2013Looking to make the launch of the 2014 Corvette Stingray as efficient as possible, Chevrolet will be limiting the numbers of its dealers that can sell the all-new coupe and convertible. According to Automotive News, sales of the C7 Corvette will initially be limited to less than a third of Chevy's total dealership network when the 'Vette goes on sale this summer.
Only 900 dealers out of more than 3,000 locations nationwide will be allowed to sell the new Corvette at first, and the reason for this is so that there are no shortages at dealers that can actually get the cars sold. The article says that the 900 dealerships chosen represented 80 percent of total Corvette sales in 2012.
Some of the requirements dealers had to make to get initial allocation of Stingray sales include having sold at least four Corvettes in 2012 and having a Corvette Stingray specialist who will be required to have gone through a training session costing more than $2,000 per attendee. Once demand for the 2014 Corvette Stingray begins to subside - approximately six to nine months after it goes on sale - then allocation could open up to more dealers, but the report indicates this could happen following the 2014 model year.
First 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray spotted crashed in the wild
Tue, 12 Feb 2013This restyled blue 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is wearing manufacturer plates, and it appears to be the same one seen around the internet in various pictures lately. This crash is likely not part of the Chevrolet testing regimen, however. Digital Corvettes forum member gpetry posted the shot with a note: "got this picture e-mailed from a friend in Arizona last week..." No circumstances are given, other than the incident occurred in the thick of a set of curvy roads, and the coupe ping-ponged off a guardrail and into the rock wall. Hopefully everyone involved in the incident walked away.
It may not be a pretty thing to see, a crashed sports car that's not even available for sale yet, but rest easy. Many pre-production cars are used for development and then unceremoniously crushed and scrapped, anyway. If that's the case here, that makes this wrecked 'Vette less of a tragedy and more of a case of exceptional efficiency.
