This is the last of it's kind. Produced only three months into 1955. Different in that it has a one piece windshield and an open drive line instead of a torque tube like older models. This was a Texas truck kept in dry storage for 40 years. Body is very straight, clean and rust free. Paint is old and not original. Floor is near perfect with only a dime-sized hole in the trans cover plate which is replaceable.

Original matching numbers engine goes with truck if you want it. It needs to be rebuilt, but has a rebuilt head attached. It has been nicely replaced with a 1961 235 and 12-volt alternator. Original 3-speed column shift trans shifts nice. Have replaced or rebuilt brakes including wheel and master cylinder, carburetor, clutch, pressure plate, fuel pump, door glass, headlight switch and all locks and handles with matching key sets. This truck is all original except for newer engine and 15 inch wheels with decent tires.

For the record, this truck does need a few things. Grill and front bumper has been dented. Leaving that choice to the new owner, they can be replace through many suppliers. Windshield, back glass and wing windows will need replacing. Corner curved glass is good. Needs hood latch and bed flooring.

I have described condition the best I can. If you have further questions, please call Dave at 402-650-3813. Winning bidder is required to deposit $500 which is non-refundable into my Pay-Pal account within 2-days from  auction end. Balance due before releasing truck and clear title. Buyer to arrange shipping. I can assist with loading.

GM says hybrid Corvette no laughing matter [w/poll]

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

When Mark Reuss was in LA recently, he sat down to have a few words with the scribes at the Los Angeles Times. When the issue of a hybrid Corvette came up, Reuss answered with "Don't laugh." The General Motors president is a complete fan of the possibility, calling it "attractive" and "really fun," believing it would improve GM expertise and that "people would love it."
Naturally, the president being supportive of an idea doesn't give indication that a hybrid Corvette is on the way. However, with supercars like the Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari giving hybrid tech a solid, if remote, place in the performance car world, the inexorable trickle-down of technology means we shouldn't be surprised if and when it does happen.
And now that we have that non-negative half-answer to a speculative question, it would be irresponsible for us not to commence rumormilling for the C8 Corvette. Taking Reuss at his word, the C8 will obviously be a hybrid with all-wheel-drive - the left side wheels driven with electric motors, the right side with the mid-mounted, four-cylinder diesel engine. With coefficient of drag of just .16, figure on a 0-to-60 mile-per-hour time of under 2 seconds and an all-electric range of something like 30 miles at top speed. Don't forget, folks, you read it here first.

Fewer than 1 in 3 Chevy dealers earn right to initially sell C7 Corvette

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

Looking to make the launch of the 2014 Corvette Stingray as efficient as possible, Chevrolet will be limiting the numbers of its dealers that can sell the all-new coupe and convertible. According to Automotive News, sales of the C7 Corvette will initially be limited to less than a third of Chevy's total dealership network when the 'Vette goes on sale this summer.
Only 900 dealers out of more than 3,000 locations nationwide will be allowed to sell the new Corvette at first, and the reason for this is so that there are no shortages at dealers that can actually get the cars sold. The article says that the 900 dealerships chosen represented 80 percent of total Corvette sales in 2012.
Some of the requirements dealers had to make to get initial allocation of Stingray sales include having sold at least four Corvettes in 2012 and having a Corvette Stingray specialist who will be required to have gone through a training session costing more than $2,000 per attendee. Once demand for the 2014 Corvette Stingray begins to subside - approximately six to nine months after it goes on sale - then allocation could open up to more dealers, but the report indicates this could happen following the 2014 model year.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
