Up for auction : 1957 chevy 4x4 truck. The truck is mounted on a 1979 GMC Jimmy chassis, All original running gear with the exception of a newer Mr.Good Wrench crate motor (350 ). The cab and bed were mounted properly with new pro-comp body mounts. The TH 350 was professionally rebuild about 2 hundred miles ago. New dual exhaust, new rear driveshaft, new E-Z wiring kit, new turn/brake lights, new parking lights, seat has been recovered, not a great job but is comfortable. A used caddy telescopic/tilt column, could use a new steering wheel , but is totally useable at this time.... New aluminum manifold and new 650 carb with electric choke. Starts on the first hit and runs down the road straight.. The tires have lots of tread but are badly weather checked, 35" tires will fit nicely and be even more of a compliment to this historic icon.... All lights works, All new tinted glass ( not that cheap film ) door weatherstripping included but not installed at this time.. (doors rattle on dirt roads ) Horn and odometer and gauges ARE NOT HOOKED UP YET, although the high beam indicator and turn signals are functional.
I want to stress this truck was not built to be a SHOW truck, not that it couldn't be, It does have some minor rust through , but in my opinion , easy fixes. The truck looks better at 50' feet then up close, but gets a lot of thumbs up and waves. I would drive this 57 anywhere if it had tunes and the door weather stripping installed.... I have placed the reserve low enough that that I feel the new owner can justify a couple of rear fenders , install the new bed wood and stainless steel strips ( i will provide) and have it painted and still be way under market value...
Chasiss : all 1979 running gear, dana 44 front axle, 12 bolt rear end, 203 transfer case, TH 350 transmission, 6 lug, rear gas tank. A 4" rancho lift kit was install by the Jimmy owner.
Feel free to call if you have sincere interest in this truck, Ray @ 970-309-4526, this truck is in Colorado.

GM claims it's first to sell million 30+ mpg vehicles
Fri, 04 Jan 2013As we continue to put together all the data for the year-end edition of By The Numbers, General Motors has announced that it sold more than a million vehicles in the US last year that achieved at least 30 miles per gallon on the highway. More impressively, GM managed this feat using multiple strategies including small vehicle size, turbocharged engines and hybrid or plug-in technologies across four brands (Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC) accounting for 13 separate models. This number will grow even more in 2013 thanks to cars like the all-electric Spark, the diesel Cruze, the range-extended Cadillac ELR and the Buick Encore compact CUV.
GM's small car sales were up 39 percent last year helping to attain this million-sales mark for 30-mpg models, and almost 40 percent of all GM sales consisted of cars with fuel-efficient I4 engines. In regards to more advanced means of improving fuel economy, GM says that it plans on having 500,000 vehicles with "some form of electrification" on the road by 2017.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray priced from $51,995*
Fri, 26 Apr 2013After months of speculation, Chevrolet has finally revealed the official starting price of the 2014 Corvette Stingray. The base MSRP for the 450-horsepower Stingray Coupe will be $51,995, while the Stingray Convertible will go for $56,995 (*both prices include a $995 destination fee). This means that the price increase from 2013 to 2014 is just $1,400 for the coupe and $2,395 for the convertible - pretty modest increases considering the upgrade in specifications. Of course, neither price accounts for the sort of dealer markup that might grace early C7 window stickers, especially since less than a third of all Chevrolet dealers will be allocated Corvette models to sell at the car's launch.
Now, these prices are for the base car, so if you're wondering how much a fully loaded Stingray will run, Chevy has given us a good indication of that as well. The coupe we saw on display at the Detroit Auto Show (shown above), for example, would run $73,360 including options such as the $2,800 Z51 Performance Package, $2,495 competition sport seats and the $1,795 Magnetic Ride Control option - just to name a few. Stepping up to the 3LT trim level that brings a full leather interior will run an extra $8,005 over the base price.
While $20,000 in options may seem like a lot, this "as-tested" price still has the C7 competitively priced against rival coupes like the Porsche 911 and Nissan GT-R. Speaking of price comparisons, Chevrolet also points out that the C7 Stingray Z51 costs $2,200 less than the C6 Grand Sport while delivering better acceleration (0-60 mph in less than four seconds) and improved track performance (including more than 1 g in cornering).
Use this PowerPoint when convincing your spouse to let you buy a Corvette
Thu, 14 Feb 2013When you are not the one in charge of the purse strings, creativity is a must when trying to get the string-holder to bankroll that next shiny object you just can't live without.
When I was a kid, I decided that life wasn't worth living if it weren't in pursuit of owning a GMC Typhoon. My 12-year-old self crafted a fiscal strategy that, when combined with my offer of a 49-percent share of ownership in the car in return for my parents' contribution of 80-percent of the purchase price, would see me behind the wheel of a Typhoon by the time I hit college. They walked away from the negotiating table and, the economic climate of the 8th grade being what it was at the time, another partner wasn't found before the Typhoon was discontinued.
Roy El-Rayes, however, has succeeded where 12-year-old me failed, and he did it by using the sort of professionalism that only a PowerPoint presentation can provide, along with some humor and bold-faced flattery.
