This 1959 Apache 32 is a survivor. We rescued it from a mans garage where it set for 15 years. To nice of a truck to let sit another 15 years!!
Did basics to it like, took fuel tank out to a radiator shop and had it boiled and painted, put new fuel sender in tank. Fuel gauge works.  Blowed out hard fuel lines and replaced rubber fuel lines.  Changed oil and canister oil filter.  Had new pressure hoses made from canister to block.  Truck idles at 30 lbs oil pressure.  Added antifreeze. Only leak in truck is drip from water pump when running.  Does not heat.  Brakes were at least well over 1/2 left.  Took wheel drums off truck, cleaned and blowed out brake springs, etc. Added brake fluid to master cylinder and bled all 4 brakes.  No leaks in entire system.
Original wheels, missing center caps.  Deep tread on matching front tires.  All 4 tires weather checked.  Clutch feels weak, but we drove it around the block.  All windows in good shape and work properly as do the door handles.  Minimal rust.  SOLID OLD TRUCK!!!

GM looks to combat high theft rates on SUVs with added tech

Tue, 24 Dec 2013

The Cadillac Escalade has been at or near the top of most-stolen and insurance-loss lists for more than seven years, until it dropped to number six earlier this year. In 2011 it was fitted with a host of new security features to address its easy-to-override features and that has brought the number of thefts down, but when eight of the ten most stolen rides are large SUVs from General Motors, no one will argue that something else needs to be done.
Thus, GM has fitted this same theft-deterring tech to the 2015 Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon. The Suburban and Tahoe will get the steering lock that the Escalade and Yukon already get, plus bolted-down third-row seats to deter thefts like this, stronger door lock cylinders and shields, and side-cut keys to inhibit picking.
Additional security measures in a Theft Protection Package can be purchased for $395, consisting of sensors on the greenhouse glass and interior, an incline/tilt sensor and added "key control systems" to make it more difficult for the men in black balaclavas to steal what you bought.

Helicopter crashes on Top Gear Korea set while chasing Corvette ZR1

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

The formula of Top Gear Korea is seemingly about the same as it is everywhere else in the world, including the flagship British original: involve interesting cars in fantastical situations with charismatic hosts. That prescription has proved to be pretty reliable over the years, and has lead to some truly memorable and exciting pieces of television.
Something like that was undoubtedly what the Korean producers were after when they lined up this segment - a drag race between a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and an AH1 Cobra military helicopter. The planners almost certainly did not expect the filming of the segment to go quite as wrong as it actually did, with the helicopter actually crashing into the dirt after the "drag race" had been completed. Thankfully, we're told that no one was seriously injured in the crash, but the footage, in the video below, is pretty damn chilling to watch, nevertheless.
