Hello!  I just acquired this truck today so all I have history wise is what the seller told me.  He seemed like an honest guy, so I made the deal.

This is a 2000 Chevy 2500 Silverado work truck with the emphasis on "work truck"!!  The seller told me that the guy he bought it from had the engine rebuilt around 20K miles ago.  But no papers were provided as proof.  But from how it runs and sounds, he probably is not lying about it. This truck looks really good from the distance, but as you get closer you see that the bed has been beat to hell. There are quite a few nit-picky things wrong with it, but as far as actually using it at the job site, or your farm/ranch or just for mudding, those little details won't matter.  What matters is that it has a powerful 6.0 V8 and a smooth shifting automatic transmission, and 4X4 that works!  I was also told that it has a locking rear end.  The AC works good.  The interior is kinda rough mainly because the lid to center seat console is broken and duck-taped.  The seats are kind of dirty, and could use a real detailing!  The windshield is cracked, but did not affect my visibility. the outside door handle on drivers side "4th" door is broken and gone.  but the door is easily opened by the inside handle. The handle to the hood release is broken off, but the cable is right there and easy to pull to release the hood. The tailgate handle is broken, and I have not tried to open it.  It doesn't look like there is any rust that I could tell.  The tires are good-year wranglers and are like new.  The exhaust sounds awesome!  Maybe flowmasters or something similar! Truck has 1 key and a key fob that will lock and unlock the doors.  The panic button is gone from key fob. This truck has a clear Alabama title.  The hood and front clip look good for this being a 13 year old work truck.  i only drove this truck a little, but I had it in the city and the highway and it drives really good and tracks nicely.  It has  a tow package.
Now please remember:  this is a work truck!!  I tried to capture all faults and good things that my camera could show.  If you want a show truck, then please look elsewhere!  if you want an everyday work truck that you won't mind scratching or getting scratched, here is your truck!  Please do not bid so that you can come look at it after the sale and tell me that this or that is wrong with it.  when you place a bid, it tells me that you read the description, and you looked at the pictures, and you have no further questions.  PLEASE ask all questions before you bid!  I do not like surprises and I know you don't either.
I expect payment within 3 days of end of auction.  It can sit in my yard as long as needed after I receive full payment.  If you need shipping, I recommend USHIP.COM.  I will not participate in the shipping process, but I will be as much help as possible to your shippers!
This is a great deal for the man or woman that needs a good affordable work truck!

Watch how Corvette Racing's new collision-avoidance radar system works

Fri, 22 Mar 2013

When it comes to technology used in racecars, we generally expect it to trickle down to production cars, not the other way around. Well, Pratt & Miller has developed a new rear-facing radar that operates in a similar fashion to what we're used to in modern blind spot detection systems, only it is also capable of tracking cars as they approach and relaying vital information to the driver via a large display screen.
The innovative radar system debuted at last weekend's 12 Hours of Sebring for Corvette Racing, and this system makes perfect sense for endurance races like this since the cars sometimes have to drive through the night and in poor weather conditions.
The radar can detect cars even with poor visibility, and uses easy-to-distinguish symbols for the driver to identify.

800k car names trademarked globally, suddenly alphanumerics seem reasonable

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

What's in a name? This cliched phrase probably gets tossed out at every marketing meeting that happens when a new car gets its nomenclature. We know the answer, though: everything. The name of a car has all the potential to make or break it with fickle customers that are more conscious than ever about what their purchases say about them.
That's giving headaches to marketing folks across the automotive industry. "It's tough. In 1985 there were about 75,000 names trademarked in the automotive space. Today there are 800,000," Chevrolet's head of marketing, Russ Clark, told Automotive News. Infiniti's president, Johan de Nysschen, echoed Clark's sentiment, saying, "The truth of the matter is, across the world, there is hardly a name or a letter that hasn't already been claimed by one car manufacturer or another. You can go through the alphabet - A, B, C and so forth - and you will quickly see that almost all available letters are taken."
What has that left automakers to do? Get creative. In the case of Infiniti, it made the controversial move to bring all of its cars' names into a new scheme, classifying them as Q#0 for cars and QX#0 for SUVs and crossovers. So the Infiniti G, which was available as the G25 and G37, is now the Q50. The FX37 and FX50 are now the QX70.

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable

Fri, 21 Sep 2012

General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
