DSI Autosales is pleased to present this 2005 2500HD Crew Cab duramax diesel. It comes complete with 4x4, LT package, 4x4, Power windows, Power locks, cruise, tilt, six disc CD changer, Power expandable mirrors, etc. Those are all great options but what makes this truck rare is that it has a factory sunroof and a factory DVD player. To our knowledge this truck has every option that was available in 2005. This truck has the LLY engine(the best duramax ever made in my opinion) as well as the Allison transmission. It currently has about 164,000. It has a 3 owner always a Georgia owned truck with no wrecks according to the autocheck report(available if you would like to see it).

Known defects: I like to get to this first so that you know what you are looking at! There are no known mechanical defects. We just replaced the turbo and had the blend doors on the air conditioning replaced which were the only problems we could even find on the truck! The only defects are cosmetic in nature and I will list them below. I do try to be very thourough but it is possible that I missed something. If I did it would be minor in nature and certainly not intentional. Defects:

1) Drivers seat has normal wear.
2) Passenger rear seat has 3 inch scratch on it.
3) Front bumper has very slight bend on drivers side(should be able to see in picture)
4) Rear bumper has minor bend on passenger side(should be able to see in picture)
5) A few scratches and dings.

I have included pictures of just about every defect that I could find.  There are a couple of minor scratches that I did not get the pictures uploaded but I can email you them if you would like.  Ebay only let me upload 24 pictures!

Now I will list the positives below:

1) All fluids are fresh
2) AC just serviced and blend doors replaced(ice cold ac)
3) New turbo just installed
4) Tires are like brand new
5) Fully detailed and ready to go.

This is probably one of the nicest 2005 2500HD pickups for sale. It is obvious this truck has not been a work truck but somebody's pride and joy! It is not a perfect truck though. It has scratches and dings but not what you would expect to see in a truck of this age and mileage. I would certainly say it is an above average truck but it is a used truck so please expect some imperfections. With that said I think it could easily pass for a truck with 64,000 miles even though it actually has 164,000miles. I am personally driving this truck so mileage will vary until sold. Please call me at 404 403 2974  to schedule a time to see this truck. If you have been looking at these you know what a rare find this is especially in this condition!

I do encourage personal inspections when possible.  I also welcome third party inspections.  This truck is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early.  Thanks for you interest.

Chevy gets cracking on Cruze EV fleet testing

Chevrolet Cruze EV - Click above for high-res image gallery
The Chevrolet Volt hasn't yet gone on sale, but General Motors is looking at ways of expanding its electric vehicle lineup. Chevy, along with partner LG, is employing a group of all-electric cars in the form of the Cruze. The sedans are part of a demonstration fleet which is located in Seoul, South Korea and is being used to provide data in an electric vehicle research project. The goal is to gather information on driving patterns and charging behavior in addition to consumer acceptance.
The Cruze EVs, along with some Daewoo Lacetti Premieres EVs, are the first fleet of full-size electric vehicles and should provide invaluable information for The General. Staying full-size means not sacrificing cargo space, so the battery pack is mounted to the underbody, leaving the trunk area open for plenty recyclable, canvas grocery bags.

Watch how Corvette Racing's new collision-avoidance radar system works

Fri, 22 Mar 2013

When it comes to technology used in racecars, we generally expect it to trickle down to production cars, not the other way around. Well, Pratt & Miller has developed a new rear-facing radar that operates in a similar fashion to what we're used to in modern blind spot detection systems, only it is also capable of tracking cars as they approach and relaying vital information to the driver via a large display screen.
The innovative radar system debuted at last weekend's 12 Hours of Sebring for Corvette Racing, and this system makes perfect sense for endurance races like this since the cars sometimes have to drive through the night and in poor weather conditions.
The radar can detect cars even with poor visibility, and uses easy-to-distinguish symbols for the driver to identify.

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"
