Up for auction is a 1996 Chevrolet 3500 HD Bucket Truck
Exterior
The truck has a 35' altec battery powered lift on it. The lift is not in working order right now. It worked fine until about 3 months ago. It needs a battery separator and then would once again work properly. I'm not sure what this part is nor where its located, but here is a link to the part.
There is rust on the bins as you can see in the pictures. The cab itself is in pretty good shape, once again refer to the pictures. there has been some touch up to the paint on rust spots, looks to be just spray paint.(Pictured) All-in-all it is a pretty solid work truck.
Interior
The interior is in good shape. No rips i the seat and all the gauges work. the ac and heat work, but the blower motor only works on high speed and it is loud when its on. i would suggest a new blower motor ($50) other than that everything works fine.
Engine
Its a solid running 454 engine. i The only issue i am aware of is a problem with the fuel pressure regulator, and it is a very minor problem. here is what it does... When you start it for the first time of the day it starts right, up first turn, but once the engine is warm and you go to start it, it takes about 3 or 4 seconds to start. it is reliable and starts every time but it does have this little kink. I've used the truck for 2 years with it this way and its no big deal.
The exhaust very loud. there are no holes in the piping, its the muffler itself that is rusted. Again nothing major, just annoying, but for my purposes it was not worth fixing.

Chevy to show redesigned Captiva in Geneva, will it come to US rental lots?
Wed, 27 Feb 2013Unless you're renting a car or driving through Orlando, Florida (the rental car capital of the US), you'll probably never see a Chevrolet Captiva - the rebadged, fleet-only version of the old Saturn Vue - on our roads, but this crossover is popular in many other parts of the world. As such, Chevrolet announced that the Captiva will be getting an update for 2013, which will be unveiled next week at the Geneva Motor Show.
Coming off a pretty extensive refresh in 2011, the 2013 model year will bring even more changes to the Captiva like LED taillights, new 18-inch wheels and revised fascias with a new grille and fog lights up front and inset chrome exhaust outlets at the rear. New interior features include heated rear seats, dual-zone climate control as well as available options on some of the upper trim levels such as leather seating and keyless entry and start. We have yet to hear back from Chevrolet as to whether or not the updated Captiva will be making its way to a rental lot near you, as the model is only available in the US to fleet buyers.
Alongside the updated Captiva, Chevy is also showing off its new Trax in Europe, where the subcompact crossover will go on sale this spring. GM's press release for these two Geneva-bound models is posted below.
Helicopter crashes on Top Gear Korea set while chasing Corvette ZR1
Mon, 11 Feb 2013The formula of Top Gear Korea is seemingly about the same as it is everywhere else in the world, including the flagship British original: involve interesting cars in fantastical situations with charismatic hosts. That prescription has proved to be pretty reliable over the years, and has lead to some truly memorable and exciting pieces of television.
Something like that was undoubtedly what the Korean producers were after when they lined up this segment - a drag race between a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and an AH1 Cobra military helicopter. The planners almost certainly did not expect the filming of the segment to go quite as wrong as it actually did, with the helicopter actually crashing into the dirt after the "drag race" had been completed. Thankfully, we're told that no one was seriously injured in the crash, but the footage, in the video below, is pretty damn chilling to watch, nevertheless.
GM looks to combat high theft rates on SUVs with added tech
Tue, 24 Dec 2013The Cadillac Escalade has been at or near the top of most-stolen and insurance-loss lists for more than seven years, until it dropped to number six earlier this year. In 2011 it was fitted with a host of new security features to address its easy-to-override features and that has brought the number of thefts down, but when eight of the ten most stolen rides are large SUVs from General Motors, no one will argue that something else needs to be done.
Thus, GM has fitted this same theft-deterring tech to the 2015 Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon. The Suburban and Tahoe will get the steering lock that the Escalade and Yukon already get, plus bolted-down third-row seats to deter thefts like this, stronger door lock cylinders and shields, and side-cut keys to inhibit picking.
Additional security measures in a Theft Protection Package can be purchased for $395, consisting of sensors on the greenhouse glass and interior, an incline/tilt sensor and added "key control systems" to make it more difficult for the men in black balaclavas to steal what you bought.
