1966 Chevrolet Suburban , Fire Department Owned For Years, Stored Since 1979 on 2040-cars
Northwood, New Hampshire, United States
This is a very unique item, a 1966 Chevrolet Suburban that was used by the fire department to haul a D.A. Taggard 1800's fire hand pump in parades. The vehicle was stored since 1979 but two years ago the town put it up for sealed bid and sold it. The person who bought it installed full tune up, new tires, new brakes with master cylinder, sent out gas tank to be sealed, new fuel pump, rebuilt the carb and got it running. The vehicle came to me with a few problems like wouldn't start off the key switch, no fuel to the carb and a few more things. I corrected the problems and she runs, drives and stops. The truck has original 6 cylinder with 4 speed train, it also has a button on the dash that works a siren under the hood....... I have so many projects that I am selling it to someone who appreciates this kind of vehicle. It has all three seats and has had a few repairs to the body over the years but overall is a great resto. project. If you have any more questions call me at 603-942-6118...

GM recalls full-size truck, SUVs and vans over faulty shifter mechanism
Mon, 07 Jan 2013Twelve different General Motors vehicles from the 2013 model year, up to 54,686 units in total, are being recalled over two potential issues with their steering columns. The models in question, all full-size trucks, SUVs or vans, are the: Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Savana, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL.
The affected vehicles were built with a fractured parking lock cable or "a malformed steering column lock actuator gear in the lock module assembly." As a consequence, they could shift out of park without the brake pedal being applied or with the key removed or in the off position.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that the recall should begin on January 17. GM will notify owners, at which time they can take their vehicles to their dealers for repair free of charge. Have a look at the bulletin below for more information.
800k car names trademarked globally, suddenly alphanumerics seem reasonable
Tue, 01 Oct 2013What's in a name? This cliched phrase probably gets tossed out at every marketing meeting that happens when a new car gets its nomenclature. We know the answer, though: everything. The name of a car has all the potential to make or break it with fickle customers that are more conscious than ever about what their purchases say about them.
That's giving headaches to marketing folks across the automotive industry. "It's tough. In 1985 there were about 75,000 names trademarked in the automotive space. Today there are 800,000," Chevrolet's head of marketing, Russ Clark, told Automotive News. Infiniti's president, Johan de Nysschen, echoed Clark's sentiment, saying, "The truth of the matter is, across the world, there is hardly a name or a letter that hasn't already been claimed by one car manufacturer or another. You can go through the alphabet - A, B, C and so forth - and you will quickly see that almost all available letters are taken."
What has that left automakers to do? Get creative. In the case of Infiniti, it made the controversial move to bring all of its cars' names into a new scheme, classifying them as Q#0 for cars and QX#0 for SUVs and crossovers. So the Infiniti G, which was available as the G25 and G37, is now the Q50. The FX37 and FX50 are now the QX70.
