We have for sale stock number CS2154.  A very nice chevrolet Suburban, with only 82900 miles on it. It is the Lt model with leather seats, six disc cd changer, digital dual climate control, steering wheel controls, leather seats, power window, power driver seat, power door locks, air conditioning and cruise control.  This Suburban has a rebuilt from salvage title due to fresh water flood damage.  The vehicle did not go very deep in the water, there was no evidence of it being in the interior at all.  We checked all the gear boxes and did find a small amount of water in the transmission.  The Suburban was not driven with water in the transmission.  We flused the transmission until there was no sign of water at all.  We then topped the transmission off with new synthetic fluid.  There was no evidence at all of water in any other gear box, or the engine.  Prior to starting the Vehicle we removed the air filter housing to check if there was any water in there and there was no sign of it at all.  The vehicle runs and drives like new and all electronics perform flawlessly.  We removed a sill plate and pulled back the carpet and there was no sign of water at all.  There are a couple small door dings on it and a crack on one of the exterior mouldings.  The interior is in very good condition with no rips or tears,  There is a cover missing in the rear that covers the jack and lug wrench access.  There is also a small crack in the dash.  Overall this suburban is in very good condition and is offered for sale at drastically reduced price.  I would not be scared at all to put my family in this vehicle and go on a cross country trip.  Please call 303-622-6137.  All vehicles are sold as is where is.  All vehicles are open to inspection and test drives during the auction.  All sales are final

General Motors shaking up its marketing... again

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

One of the things that dogs the full comeback of General Motors is the instability of its marketing. That part of the automaker got yet another big shakeup today when GM confirmed what I have been tweeting for a few days - strong rumors that the Chevrolet and Cadillac ad accounts are walking to new ad agencies.
Cadillac, GM's luxury brand, is going into review from Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis and the indications are that Campbell-Ewald, Chevy's old ad shop, will end up with most or all of it. C-E just announced that it was moving from its long-time home in Warren, MI to a new downtown Detroit office next to Ford Field, just blocks from GM.
The other shoe to drop shortly will be the shift of GM's most important brand, Chevy, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco to McCann-Erickson of Troy, MI. McCann used to be the agency for Buick and GMC, as well as GM's corporate advertising, and has retained some pieces of business over the last few years. Sources have even told us that it was McCann that did a lot of the creative work on Chevy's new ad platform, Find New Roads. (Not to be confused with a former McCann tagline for Saab, "Find Your Own Road.")

2014 Chevrolet Malibu gets more torque, more room and inspiration from the Impala

Fri, 31 May 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, having stared at the Impala across the showroom floor for a year, gets nips and tucks all over inspired by its larger brother. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder in the base car will get a stop-start system and 23 city miles per gallon, 35 highway, each number representing a one-mpg improvement over the 2013 car. Output is 196 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque.
Opt for the 2.0-liter turbo and, while power holds steady at 259 hp, torque goes up by 14 percent to a striking 295 lb-ft (a figure Chevy calls best in the class). The final details include newly programmed transmission shift points and faster shifts, for better engaging and enjoying the added power.
Looks-wise, the grille's been reshaped to be more in line with the new Chevrolet look, a narrower upper grille hovering over a larger lower grille.

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
