Strong 1988 Chevy Suburban Two Tone Lift-kit 4x4 on 2040-cars

Year:1998 Mileage:850
Location:

San Antonio, Texas, United States

San Antonio, Texas, United States

This is one of the last legends Detroit made. 1988 solid steel with a customized 6" lift kit. This is a great hunting truck or perfect for off-roading. It runs like a charme and sounds strong.
I had the transmission rebuilt in January 2013, rebuilt the engine in June 2013 and put 4 brand new BF Goodrich AF All terraiin 33X12.5 R16.5LT in December 2012. It also has a new heater core. The tires have 1,200 miles on them, The transmisison about 1,000 miles and the engine 850 miles on it. Those expenses total up to $5,000 alone.

Here is what I know is wrong with the truck:
Clearcoat is peeling off in some panels
Dents driver door, rear quarter panel
Fuel gauge is not working. this is due to the engine rebult. Apparently the mechanic forgot to hook up some line/cable.
Gearshift indicator is broken.
Small tear in driver seat cloth
Cracked windshield

It has additional headlights, a gauge for a second fuel tank
The engine, transmission (including 4x4) work great. New battery and it cranks right up. New waterpump, alternator and belts. It does need a bit of love, but most of that is simply cosmetic. I actually like the manly look.. (The truck actually came like that when I bought it in 2004). so I never bothered with the cosmetic aspect of it.  It is an Arizona/Texas truck so no rust, salt damage. It has lots of torque and a tow bar installed. The lift kit is 6" and it has Dee-Zee stepbars. The radio is less than a year old and has AV input and CD player. It also has the desirable 3rd row seats

If you are looking for solid truck that won't break for towing your boat, ATV, etc, go hunting in it or just to use to get some mud on the tires, this is your truck. There are not many of these beasts available for sale.

I am the second owner as far as I know and I had for 10 years as our third vehicle to make runs to Home Depot in it, the occasional hunting trip, but never put more than 4,000 miles on it in a year. The original mileage to the best of my knowledge is 165,000, but the rebuild engine has less than 1,000 miles on it.

I used it for a while in my business to make deliveries, but then we outgrew it and bought an International Truck. I kept it for a while in our warehouse, but now the wife is making me sell it.

I love that truck, but love the wife more.

I'd be happy to answer any questions or send pics of something specific if you like to see that.

It is a beautiful truck that has lots of power, hate to see it go.

C7 Corvette makes inaugural ad appearance in Chevy's first spot with new slogan

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

Chevrolet's "Runs Deep" tagline has finally been run into the ground, replaced with the Bowtie brand's "Find New Roads" slogan that's part of parent General Motors' plan to unify its everyday brand's marketing efforts worldwide. The new Chevrolet campaign was ushered in on prime time last night during the Grammy Awards on CBS, and the first spot, a 90-second full-line ad, also marks the first appearance of the 2014 Corvette Stingray in a commercial.
Being a full-line ad, the commercial is composed of vignettes centered on different vehicles in the brand's lineup. The all-new 2014 Impala also makes its first commercial appearance in dapper fashion, and time is spent on a skateboarding Sonic and a bouquet of brightly colored Spark hatchbacks driven by fashionable women. The ad starts and ends with Chevy's green halo car, the Volt, along with a young girl with her robotic dog (yes, really).
Chevrolet's "Runs Deep" campaign got off to a rocky start in the fall of 2010, but it did last for a couple of years with some tweaks. This new one, "Find New Roads" seems more intent on drawing new customers into the fold than the outgoing tagline, which seemed to play more toward the brand faithful. It admittedly reminds us more than a little the short-lived "Find Your Own Road" Saab motto (which, we note, was conceived while the Swedish brand was under GM's control), but no matter, we still think it's got more long-term potential than "Runs Deep."

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

Pushing Back: GM expanding Chevrolet into Korea, Daewoo out

Chevrolet Camaro goes to South Korea - Click above for high-res image
General Motors decided several years ago to begin heavily promoting Chevrolet as its global mainstream brand even in markets where its existing brands like Opel and Daewoo were a dominant force. Today, at the Busan Motor Show in South Korea, GM Daewoo president Mike Arcamone announced that the Camaro would lead the way in GM's efforts to market Chevrolet in South Korea.
For now at least Chevrolet and Daewoo-branded vehicles will coexist in the Korean market. However, while we were in China last week GM officials told us that the Daewoo brand, which has been somewhat tainted by past quality issues, would eventually be phased out in favor of Chevrolet. When the new Aveo launches next year it will likely be badged as a Chevrolet even though GM Daewoo is in charge of engineering the car.
