I don't get impressed too easily after spending thirty eight years in the car business. But I must say this car is unbelievable in many ways. It was bought brand new by a lady on June 30, 2000. ( This was when Chrysler was owned by Mercedes - Benz ). She's owned it ever since. She is also a non smoker. The passenger door was side swiped so I bought the car and replaced the door. It matches perfectly. ( She would still own it if it wasn't for the door ). This car has been maintained at the new car dealership with all the scheduled oil changes, tune ups, filters etc. Like all my cars, my wife and I drive them to be sure that there is nothing to be done, unlike trade-ins that usually need a lot of work. Look at the paint. It's nicer in person than in the pictures. The spare has never been used. The rear seat, with access to the trunk has no visible sign of use. The underneath is rust free and clean. The exhaust system and brakes are very recent. These cars: the Chrysler Cirrus, the Dodge Stratus and the Plymouth Breeze all had the 2.4 litre four cylinder and a 2.5 litre six cylinder. I have found that the four cylinder seems to perform better, is better on gas and cheaper to maintain than the six. By the way we only sell cars on this site, so you don't have to search our feedback for someone who bought a car from us. EVERY feedback from a Buyer is for a car like this one. No exceptions. After ten years you will see a negative feedback by an individual by the name of Skip Bell. He bought a nice Stratus from us for $1995.00 and we met him here so he could check the car over. I explained that every so often the driver's window would stick going up but a small nudge and it worked fine. ( If I thought it was a big deal , I would have fixed it in the first place.) Well he drove the car home to New Jersey and upon arrival he left me a nice message saying how he liked the car and how well it drove. I saved the message and would be very happy to play it for anyone. ( perfectly legal ). Two weeks later he called to inform me that his mechanic wanted $258.00 to install a window regulator. ( the one I told him about ). I offered to buy one, they are manually operated and sell on ebay for between $50.00-$75.00. I would also pay his mechanic to install it. He refused. I won't say what he was trying to do, but I think you can draw your own conclusion. Nothing was said about the window in the feedback . Brakes and other safety items sound more serious. In conclusion we work very hard to insure that we sell the very best cars UNDER $5000.00 on ebay. We meet buyers at both airports ( Logan in Boston and Greene in Rhode Island ). Many buyers drive them home long distances. We also store your car at no charge while you take your time getting the best deal on transporting.  Please call me, Dickie if you would like more information or to make arrangements anytime. My number is: 508 994-9206. If you are in this price range, I don't think you will find something  this nice.    Take care,  Dickie.

This forgotten Chrysler was its bid for Humvee contract

Wed, 27 Aug 2014

Today, the Humvee might be as associated with the dead automotive brand from General Motors as it is with the hard-working truck that has long served as one of the backbone vehicles of America's military. But Autoline host John McElroy is showing off a practically unknown part of the model's story by digging out some old photos from his personal archive.
The High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle project, better known today as the Humvee, can be traced back to a US Department of Defense request for bids to build a new military truck. According to McElroy, he was invited to the Chrysler proving grounds in 1981 to check out the bid from the brand's defense division. The company's concept was that it might be able to build an inexpensive, capable vehicle by using off-the-shelf parts.
The angular body panels gave the truck a look almost like a modern, stealth vehicle. However, the flat look was actually just to make the tooling as cheap as possible to produce. Still, this Chrysler looked surprisingly futuristic for the early '80s. It's actually not too far away from the famous Lamborghini LM002, itself intended as a possible military-spec machine.

Fiat shareholders green-light Chrysler merger, end of an Italian era

Fri, 01 Aug 2014

Fiat has just taken a major step away from its Italian heritage, as shareholders officially approved the company's merger with Chrysler. That move will lead to the formation of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV, a Dutch company based in Great Britain and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, according to Automotive News Europe.
The company captured the two-thirds majority at a special shareholders meeting, although there are still a few situations that could defeat the movement. According to ANE, roughly eight percent of shareholders opposed the merger, which is a group large enough to defeat the plan, should they all exercise their exit rights outlined in the merger conditions.
Meanwhile, Fiat Chairman John Elkann (pictured above, right, with CEO Sergio Marchionne and Ferrari Chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo), the great-great-grandson of Fiat founder Giovanni Agnelli, reaffirmed his family's commitment to the company beyond the merger. Exor, the Agnelli family's holding company, still maintains a 30-percent stake in Fiat.

Ford F-150 bumps Camry from top of Cars.com American Made Index

Tue, 25 Jun 2013

With July 4th just around the corner, what better time could there be for Cars.com to announce that the Ford F-150 is the Most American car of 2013? This may be especially true since it was the Toyota Camry, a car produced by a company based in Japan, that had held the top spot from 2009 to 2012.
Cars.com compiles its Most American list by considering the amount of parts each vehicle uses that come from America, where it's final assembly takes place and how many units per year are sold. "While the assembly point and domestic parts content of the F-150 didn't change from 2012-2013, vehicle sales are responsible for bumping the F-150 to the top spot," according to Patrick Olsen, Editor-in-Chief of Cars.com.
As far as automakers go (as opposed to individual models), Toyota retains the top spot it held in 2012, with General Motors, Chrysler, Ford and Honda (in that order) rounding out the list. The motivation behind this list each year, according to Olsen, is "to help car shoppers understand that 'American-Made' extends beyond just the Detroit three" and because "a study we conducted in 2012 indicated that 25 percent of shoppers surveyed preferred to buy American."
